7 (7) PdM Medium Tactical Vehicles PM is planning vehicle upgrades as part of a competitive solicitation for award in FY17. Potential exists for additional production through 2021 Planned upgrades to accommodate increased weight: Suspension/ride quality Drive line/power train New production to address: Safety Obsolescence Data bus interface Electrical/on board power

8 (8) Proposed Upgrades & Operational Impacts 1) Higher Capacity Suspension Commercially Available Item Front axle weight with future protection kits (underbody, RPG, EFP) will exceed current axle rating by 5k lbs. Future suspension upgrades address weight capacity and ride quality concerns Integrates Electronic Stability Control (ESC) into the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) 2) Underbody Protection Kit (Design Modification) Kit designed and tested for current truck Meets current underbody threat requirements 3) Larger Tires / Higher Capacity Wheels Commercially Available Item Larger tires increase contact area, improve mobility Common tire in use on other systems OPERATIONAL IMPACTS Allow units to operate in an IED/mine environment Increases suspension capacity to support protection/survivability enhancements Improved mobility, ride quality, and reliability ESC with the ABS increases safety and stability modern commercial standard
