7 From Emsland to the world. Alfons Westermann completed a locksmith training and then worked as a journeyman for four years. At the age of 23, he moved to Osnabrück, where he completed a further education as a state-certified mechanical engineering technician. At the age of just 25, he ventured the leap into self-employment - just two months later, in November 1989, he exhibited his motorized radial sweeper at the Tier-und- Technik exhibition in Frankfurt am Main. Here he made initial contacts with customers from the agricultural sector. Initially housed in the parental barn, he moved in the meantime into an old dairy of the village Lengerich. In 1995 a hall of 400 m² was built. Seven years later Alfons Westermann enlarged the hall by another 600 m². More was not possible - at least not on the company property. Since the capacities for the economically successful enterprise were not sufficient in the long run and thus further growth at the location was no longer possible, an alternative had to be found. In 2007 the company decided to relocate to the location in Meppen. The location, traffic connections and the size of the plot were the decisive factors for Meppen. It s not far from the Schützenhof to the city center, says Alfons Westermann. The trans-regional transport connection is optimal. The company is located in close proximity to the B70, a short distance to the A31 and thanks to the upcoming expansion of the E233 Westermann Radialbesen is easily accessible from every direction. An advantage for our customers and our own logistics, as we can deliver our products quickly and without any problems. Furthermore, Westermann s supplier can be reached very well from this location in Meppen. All materials are coming from companies in Germany. Meppen is located relatively central in the Emsland and is thus an ideal control center for us. After purchasing an adjoining hall complex in 2014, the company currently has more than 7,000 m² of hall space and an office complex on a total site area of two hectares. 10 Radial sweeper Our radial sweepers have been friends and helpers for decades in various areas of operation: Whether as a normal sweeper for surface maintenance or resubmissions of feed on farms, our powerful radial sweeper sweeps almost every small piece of material. Thanks to the intelligent brush angle, our machines work perfectly with bumps, corners and edges. The big advantage of the radial sweeper is that even large-volume and long-fiber dirt such as straw is eliminated in just one crossing. The dirt is also sweeped into a clean windrow. The debris can be pushed into a collecting system (Cleanbag). Our customers have the choice between a powerful battery technology or a strong internal combustion engine. 28 Self-driver Thanks to zero-turn steering, the self-drivers of the Cleanmeleon 2 series shine with their maneuverability, but also with their stability and flexibility. No matter if when sliding columns, sweeping out cubicles, sweeping up, feeding tables, sweeping farm and silo facilities, sweeping moss and dirt, pushing snow or pulling a food cart - our machines have been making life easier for more than 10 years. The machine (with gasoline or diesel engine or battery-powered) is hydrostatically driven by the front axle and thus adapts to difficult conditions. It is particularly durable, because its body is made of 5 mm thick and hot-dip galvanized steel. Of course, a quick coupling and uncoupling of implements is possible. So will soon from the spreader a sweeper or from the snow shovel a high-pressure cleaner. As a special feature, the Cleanmeleon 2 has two big brothers to offer - the Cleanmeleon 2 PRO and the Cleanmeleon 2 XL with all-wheel drive! So just a few steps are needed to turn an existing carrying vehicle, such as a farm loader or a tractor, into perfectly functioning cleaning machineswhich make the daily work considerably easier. The attachment sweepers are safely guided over large surfaces by big and stable heavy-duty wheels.
