2 CISV USA NATIONAL MINI CAMP 2018 The Site NMC will be held at: College Settlement Camp 600 Witmer Road Horsham, PA The campsite is roughly 50 minutes to an hour drive from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). Please indicate on your registration form whether Every Memorial Day weekend, JB USA hosts the National Mini Camp. This weekend brings together JBers from JB USA to participate in fun, educational activities that celebrate the CISV philosophy and provide an opportunity for youth to learn, grow, have fun, and build friendships. National Mini Camp is open to all JBers, ages This year, the Brandywine Valley Chapter is hosting NMC. Programming and leadership is provided by the National Mini Camp Committee (NMCC) and its chairs, while local and logistical support comes from the Brandywine Valley Chapter. The theme of this year s National Mini Camp is Seven Wonders of the NMC. The committee has worked to come up with creative and new activities to ensure the best experience possible for all participants.

Road Trip Playlist Please do NOT bring Expensive clothes/ gadgets Note: Cell phone use will not be permitted during Chaperones Chaperones are required at this event, with one chaperone for every eight participants under age 18. You must be at least 21 years old to chaperone. Chaperones do not need to pay to attend, but they must register. Chapters are strongly encouraged to cover the cost of their chaperones transit to and from National Mini Camp. Any additional chaperones beyond the required number will be charged the cost of participation. If you are having trouble finding a chaperone for your chapter, please contact the NMCC chairs. They will work to find additional chaperones from different chapters, and set up a chaperone share. Dietary Restrictions, Allergies, and Accommodations Please note when you register if you have any dietary restrictions or other allergies. The campsite can accommodate vegetarians, but if you have other restrictions please contact the chairs. If you need wheelchair accessible accommodations, please contact the NMCC Chair, Bryan, at bryan.boro@cisvusa.org.

4 Cost: $155 (Chaperones don t pay) This year s registration fee will be $155. This fee includes housing, meals (excluding dinner on Friday, May 26 th and lunch on Monday, May 29 th ), and a camp t-shirt. This year, we are also including an optional CISV Seven Wonders of NMC 11 x17 poster for purchase for $10, which can be combined with the cost of the registration fee. All proceeds from the sales of the posters will go towards the creation of a National Mini Camp scholarship fund. Refund Policy: Cancellations need to be made by May 19, 2018, and a refund will be given if the spot can be filled by a participant on the waitlist. All cancellations need to be ed to the NMCC Chair, Bryan, at bryan.boro@cisvusa.org. Merchandise There will be several chapters selling CISV merchandise during designated free times over NMC weekend. If your chapter is interested in bringing merchandise, there needs to be one contact person responsible for the merchandise. If you are interested in purchasing merchandise, please bring cash. Age NMC is a JB USA program open to all ages, from Due to risk management, we will not allow any participants under the age of 11. Furthermore, because of the large age range, we will be working hard to make sure the weekend is ageappropriate for all participants. Travel Due to risk management purposes, participants and chaperones will only be permitted to drive to NMC if their drive will be less than 5 hours. Participants and chaperones who would be driving for longer than 5 hours will be required to travel via bus/train/plane etc. Participants and chaperones who are flying should travel to PHL Philadelphia International Airport.

5 Traveling By Plane/Train 1) From the Airport (Thursday/Friday) to Horsham (the Hatboro Train Station): There are four stations for SEPTA Regional Rail at the Airport. One at Terminal A, one at Terminal B, one shared by Terminals C & D, and one shared by Terminals E & F. Each station s center platform is accessed by stairs and/or elevator from each skybridge that crosses from the Terminal to its corresponding Baggage Claim Area; or, if you have to claim checked luggage you can access the north platform of the SEPTA Regional Rail stations from the South doors in the Baggage Claim area for your terminal. In both cases, look for the SEPTA Regional Rail signs that identify the exits that lead to the platforms. There is only one rail system that serves the airport so there should not be any conflicting rail transport information at the airport. Any airport employee can assist you with directions and SEPTA has employees at the stations identifiable by their yellow vests (except late at night). Trains depart the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) every 30 minutes on the :10 and :40 minute marks. The same train serves all four stations. Starting with a departure from E & F at :07 and :37, the train stops for a minute at C & D, then a minute at B, and finally for a minute at A. You can board the train from the center platform (accessed from the skybridges) or from the Baggage Claim platforms, since the doors on each side of the train open at each of the Airport s stations. (There is a second (southern) set of tracks at each station but these are rarely used, only when construction is underway on the northern set of rails.) You can purchase a ticket at the kiosk on the platform that will take you to Hatboro for $9.25. Better yet, you can pay the conductor on the train $9.00 cash for a ticket that will take you to Hatboro and this ticket will act as a transfer that can be used to get on the WARMINSTER train (at 30 th Street Station) that completes the trip to Hatboro. Very Important Note: If you can, catch the train that departs PHL on the :40 minute mark. You will not have to transfer to the WARMINSTER line at 30 th Street Station as this train becomes the WARMINSTER line train once it stops at 30 th Street Station to drop off airport passengers and picks up passengers heading due north. However, if you take a :10 minute mark train (departure from PHL), you will need to do two things: 1) check the WARMINSTER line schedule, as you will arrive at 30 th Street Station in time for a departure on the half hour and not all of those trains go as far as Hatboro (you may have to wait for an on the hour train). 2) physically transfer to a WARMINSTER line train once you reach 30 th Street Station. Don t worry the AIRPORT line and WARMINSTER line tracks sit across from one another in the SEPTA Regional Rail section of 30 th Street Station. You will come in on Track 6 and depart on Track 5 per the current SEPTA schedule. (30 th Street Station is very busy as it is the rail hub for all of the commuter train lines in South East Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) as well as the Philadelphia train station for AMTRAK commuter trains that operate in the Northeast U.S. Corridor and travel West to Chicago.) For those traveling by AMTRAK to get to the National Mini Camp: You want to depart your train at 30 th Street Station so that you can catch the WARMINSTER Regional Rail line (SEPTA). This train leaves 30 th Street Station every 30 minutes on the hour (:00) and half hour (:30) on Thursdays and Fridays (a little earlier during rush hour). Go to the SEPTA Regional Rail section of 30 th Street Station to board the Track 5 train. Try to purchase your ticket at a kiosk before boarding the WARMINSTER train for Hatboro Train Station, for which you will pay $5.25. If you wait and purchase the ticket from the conductor it will cost $7.00!! Hatboro Train Station: The Brandywine Valley Chapter will be running shuttles from the Hatboro Train Station to the NMC site. In order to minimize the wait for a ride we will be coordinating demand for rides with NMC delegates by asking you to provide some general information about your group s arrival times and travel mode. You can expect this form in a future pre-camp. From your Philadelphia International Airport gate to the NMC site you can expect a travel time of 2 to 2½ hours. From arrival at 30 th Street Station to arrival at NMC you can expect a travel time of 1½ to 1¾ hours.

6 Traveling By Plane/Train 1) By plane: You will land at (PHL) Philadelphia International Airport. Plan to take the SEPTA Regional Rail Airport train to 30 th Street Station. They leave every 30 minutes and a ticket that will take you all the way to Hatboro Station (near the NMC site) is $9. Cash is the best MOP as it saves on fees. Signs for the trains can be found in the skywalks that take you to Baggage Claim or in the Baggage Claim Area itself. 2) By train (and some buses): Arrive by AMTRAK or bus at 30 th Street Station and catch the WARMINSTER line of SEPTA s Regional Rail system to arrive at the Hatboro Station (near the NMC site). Trains of this line leave on the hour and half hour, but some of the on the half hour trains do not go all the way to Hatboro so be sure to check that schedule. The tickets for this train are cheaper if prepurchased (rather than pay the conductor on the train) so buy those tickets early at the kiosks. 3) Shuttles from Hatboro Train Station: The Brandywine Valley Chapter will be running shuttles from Hatboro to the NMC site. Share your arrival plans and we will schedule enough shuttle vehicles to minimize the wait. Plan for a commute time of 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours after arriving in Philadelphia. Traveling By Car For those traveling to NMC by car/van: The NMC site is surrounded by major highways that require substantial toll payments. All of the toll roads in the region take E-Z Pass and offer express lanes at the toll booths, most at no additional cost, so if you have a transponder bring it with you and install it on your windshield to speed your travel.

Payment by mail Payment must be sent to the CISV USA National Office ( ) by check. Checks can be made out to CISV USA. Please write NMC [Participant Name] on the memo line of the check. Send check to: CISV USA

If you are purchasing a baseball cap, please indicate that in the Notes section, as well. 4. Payments must be postmarked before April 21st or submitted electronically before midnight on April 23rd. 5. This year s NMC will be capped at 130 participants, plus chaperones. The NMCC Chair reserves the right to close registration early if registration reaches this number. Therefore, register early in order to ensure your spot at NMC. Your spot cannot be held until payment is received. 6. Although they do not have to pay, chaperones MUST register for NMC. 7. Each participant must also fill out the Health Form, YLIF 2010 (USA), or ALIF form (USA). They can be found at These forms do not need to be notarized and the Heath Form does NOT need to be signed by a physician. 8. The original copies of all forms should be brought with the participant to NMC and a copy should be left with the home chapter. They will be required for check-in and registration. Failure to bring the correct forms will result in the participant not being able to participate in the National Mini Camp. a.
