3 Manufacturing Introduction to Hi-Tech Gaskets Hi-Tech Gaskets was founded in 2012 as a subsidiary of Hi-Tech Seals. We are guided by the same founding principles of quality, inventory and service. Since our establishment, we have invested substantially into equipment that provides a key service advantage. ISO 9001 Registered QMS At Hi-Tech Gaskets, we are committed to our Quality Management System (QMS). The four main goals of our policy include: Hi-Tech Gaskets shall distribute and/or manufacture a quality product that will meet our customers requirements and expectations Hi-Tech Gaskets shall strive to continually improve the effectiveness of the Quality Management System Hi-Tech Gaskets Quality Policy shall be communicated and understood at all levels of the organization Hi-Tech Gaskets Quality Policy and Quality Objectives will be reviewed for effectiveness and accuracy during the Annual Management Review ISO 9001 REGISTERED QMS 3

4 Manufacturing LaserQC Hi-Tech Gaskets employs a Virtek LaserQC 1200 machine. The LaserQC assists in reverse engineering, quality inspection/control and statistical process control. 2D Reverse Engineering The LaserQC 1200 aids in the reverse engineering of existing parts or templates. This process starts with the scanning of existing parts or templates to capture their complete profile. The data is stored as a CAD data file. From this file our drafting department can manipulate the scanned data to remove flaws and optimize the tolerances for production. Our drafting team can then export the file directly to our flashcutter or waterjet for rapid gasket production. Quality Inspection / Control The LaserQC is also utilized to complete manufacturing inspections. It captures over 500 data points a second, while maintaining a tolerance within ± 0.05mm (0.002 ). The system then compares your production drawing to your final product. The scanned profile is displayed in a color-coded outline, which is used to indicate what, if any, of the profile scanned is out of tolerance. Statistical Process Control Inspection data from the LaserQC 1200 is saved and can be used to generate reports for traceability and statistical analysis meeting quality requirements. This information can also be used internally to make production improvements to ensure quality products and reduced lead times. 4

10 Manufacturing Materials Metal Materials With the use of our waterjet, we are able to cut various types of metal components from 1/64 shims up to 2 thick plate. Metal Identification Hi-Tech Gasket has a Bruker S1 Sorter (XRF spectrometer) capable of instantly identifying the alloy composition of a metal component. The XRF spectrometer device can be utilized for both inspection and identification purposes. Once a metal composition is identified we can recommend a replacement gasket. Identification is key for flange and gasket design, as your gasket material must be composed of a material more willing to deform under load, to prevent damage of your flange. 15 Manufacturing Equipment Flashcutter Hi-Tech Gaskets flashcutter is capable of utilizing CAD renderings to quickly produce gaskets in rubber, plastic and composite materials. The flashcutter s surface area can accommodate material up to 5 x 10 (1550 mm x 3050 mm). Gaskets are cut through a rapid vertical reciprocating motion. The cutting motion produces a cleaner finished part, avoiding compression marks found on die-cut gaskets. The flashcutter s vacuum surface holds the sheet material in place preventing the movement of parts during production. This enables the flashcutter to maintain exceptional tolerances during production. Waterjet The Omax waterjet further expands our manufacturing capabilities. The waterjet cuts the standard composite and rubber materials, but also allows us to manufacture metal gaskets up to 2 thick. The waterjet working surface area is 60 x 135. Gaskets that require a larger work surface area can be produced in a dovetail style. Die Cut Hi-Tech Gaskets utilizes both a clicker press and roller press to produce die cut gaskets. Dies are manufactured locally and stored in house. If you are providing a sample, our team can rapidly plot the dimensions of your gasket on our LaserQC. Our drafting team will adjust the dimensions to remove flaws, then send the CAD file to our production team. From there, we will select the best material from our extensive inventory of sheet stock. Sizes are available for class 150#, 300#, 400#, 600#, 900#, 1500# and 2500#. Once installed the compression force generated by tightening of the gland produces radial pressure. Since braided packing expands radially when compressed, the gland tolerances can be more flexible than when using vee packing. 51 Additional Products Boiler Gaskets Hi-Tech Gasket supplies specialty boiler gaskets in Blue-Max and Black-Max styles. Boiler gaskets are manufactured in oval, obround, rectangular, round, and square shapes. Blue-Max Blue-Max gaskets were developed as a substitute for asbestos gaskets. They are composed of a tacky cloth of glass, synthetic fibres, and brass wire, impregnated with a blue elastomer compound. The product is then coated in a PTFE material. Black-Max The Black-Max gasket is composed of graphite with multiple layers of stainless steel 316 foil inserts. The gasket is fit for service in -240 C to 454 C in oxidizing atmospheres and 650 C in steam service. Pipe Roller Polyurethane is an ideal material for wear and bearing surfaces. Hi-Tech Seals urethane division manufactures custom pipe rollers. PTFE Tape PTFE tape is an ultra-thin material typically used to seal pipe threads. The material provides near universal chemical resistance. 51

52 Additional Products Tank Stripping The neoprene strip material is used to seal between bolted panels on tanks. The strip comes with half inch bolt holes spaced two inches apart from bolt centre. The material is 1-3/4 wide by 75 feet, available in various thicknesses. The most common thickness is 1/8. Chime Lap Gaskets Available in Nitrile and EPDM. Fillet Strip Fillet, also known as Radii gaskets, are sold in strips or cut to length. Gaskets are available in Nitrile and EPDM. 52
