2 FRANCISCAN MONASTERY WASHINGTON, DC BUILT 1899 Wagner Roofing performed major snow damage repairs to the slate roof and snow rail system on the 118 year old church. Broken slate was removed and replaced with slate to match the existing in color, size and style. New eave waterproofing was installed. The damaged snow rail system was removed and replaced with three courses of Sieger Model C snow guards.

4 U.S. NAVAL ACADEMY ADMINISTRATION BUILDING ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND BUILT: 1898 ORIGINAL ARCHITECT: ERNEST FLAGG GC: WHITING-TURNER CONTRACTING COMPANY Wagner Roofing removed and replaced the existing slate roofs, copper roofs, built in gutters and refurbished the central hipped skylight during a complete building renovation. The wood deck and outriggers of the built-in gutters were repaired prior to installation of new 20oz copper liners. New slate and standing-seam copper was installed on the mansard and dormers while new flat seam copper panels were installed on the upper main flat roof area. Decorative cornices and architectural side panels on the dormers were replicated to match the original with new pleated 20oz copper. New copper downspouts were shop fabricated and installed. All work was performed with the guidance and approval of the Maryland State Historic Preservation Office.

6 SLATE ROOF REPLACEMENT PRIVATE RESIDENCE WASHINGTON, DC Slate roof replacement in progress. Wagner erected scaffolding to the eaves to remove and replace the existing slate. Pictured are the new bronze snow guards installed at the eave and roof jacks set to provide worker access to all areas of the roof during construction.

8 CHRIST CHURCH WASHINGTON, DC BUILT 1807 ARCHITECT: BENJAMIN LATROBE Christ Church was the first Episcopal Church in Washington Parish, created by the Maryland Vestry Act of Wagner Roofing completed custom shop fabrication and installation of eight new 20 ounce lead coated copper spires to match the profile and size of the previously existing spires. A portion of the project funding was provided by the DC Preservation League. The 1807 Gothic Revival style Capitol Hill Church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1969.

10 BOSTON RESIDENCE ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA DESIGNER: RESTORATION ENGINEERING INC. Dan and April Boston undertook the construction of their origami style modern architectural home over an 18 month period that began in The Boston s saw the challenge as an opportunity to provide a unique and welcoming space in which to display their vast art collection and to raise their young family. Unfortunately, the originally installed steel roof failed and Wagner was engaged to remove and replace it with traditionally detailed 16 ounce copper standing seam on 5,000 square feet of roof surface with 26 differently pitched areas. This project has recently been nominated for an NRCA Gold Circle Award.

12 3 BETHESDA METRO CENTER MANUFACTURERS: MAJOR INDUSTRIES - TRANSLUCENT PANELS / KEMPER SYSTEM - PERIMETER GUTTER WATERPROOFING SYSTEM BETHESDA, MARYLAND Wagner reglazed the 5,500 square foot atrium skylight at this Bethesda office building. The public lobby, 150 feet below the skylight was protected by a suspended debris netting and overhead shedding prior to installation of a custom engineered platform system that was suspended from the building's structural framing. The 200 existing deteriorated insulated fiberglass skylight panels were removed and the existing framing was re-gasketed prior to installation of the new 2.75" translucent panels and rafter caps. A new liquid applied waterproofing system was applied to the perimeter gutters and new custom fabricated aluminum flashings were installed. All work was accessed via a 150 foot tall electric hoist placed at the north side loading dock.

14 U.S. BOTANIC GARDEN CONSERVATORY WASHINGTON, DC BUILT: 1933 ARCHITECT OF THE CAPITOL A weir, which raises water flow and diverts it from the gutters to hydrate the surrounding plants, was installed. The garden, located at 100 Maryland Ave, SW, was established in 1820 and is the oldest botanic garden in the United States.

The new roofing involved the fabrication, field layout and installation of custom sized, custom colored Kynar coated aluminum double lock standing seam roof panels on the new gable addition. New white TPO flat roofs and water tables were installed. And custom fabricated aluminum conductor heads and downspouts were designed and incorporated into the new contemporary addition. 18 GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY S HEALY HALL WASHINGTON, DC BUILT 1789 GC: PATNER CONSTRUCTION Georgetown University is the oldest Catholic University in the United States. The main campus s Healy Hall was built between and is named for Patrick Healy, the first black president of a major American university. The Flemish Romanesque building, was added to the D.C. Inventory of Historic Sites in 1964 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1971 and was named a National Historic Landmark in The office of Georgetown University s current president is located on Healy Hall s second floor. When Healy Hall needed its original slate roof system replaced because of leaks, university officials asked Wagner Roofing to perform the work. Wagner Roofing replaced the existing slate matching the historic gray and red pattern and replaced all lead-coated copper hip and ridge cap, shop fabricated gutter, and flashing.

20 PHOTO BY CHRIS SPIELMANN WASHINGTON NAVY YARD WATCH BOX WASHINGTON, DC BUILT: 1854 ARCHITECT: EYP ARCHITECTURE AND ENGINEERING & ARRIS ARCHITECTURAL GROUP, LLC GC: SUMMIT CONSTRUCTION The watch box was originally part of the sentry post that helped secure the 8th Street, SE entrance of the Washington Navy Yard until It was built in 1854 and in 1906 it was moved to Naval Support Facilities in Indian Head, MD. In 2015, it was moved back to Washington Navy Yard and has been fully restored. Many important people had once passed by the watch box, including the Japanese ambassador in 1860 and two presidents, Franklin Pierce and Abraham Lincoln. It is said that Lincoln even passed by it on the day of his assassination at about 5 p.m. After a rich 100-year history at Indian Head Naval Proving Grounds, the watch box was moved back to Washington Navy Yard with the support of the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Washington in It took nearly five hours by barge traveling up the Potomac River to get the watch box to its original home. It is now located at West Leutze Park. Wagner made repairs and painted the upper tin roof and installed a new lower flat seam lead coated copper roof and built-in gutters.

22 CEDAR SHAKE ROOF REPLACEMENT PRIVATE RESIDENCE OLD TOWN ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA The historic scallop shaped cedar shakes on the mansard roof were removed and replaced over new underlayment with new matching #1 Perfection CCA treated shingles. All sheet metal dormer tops and flashings were replaced with new 16 ounce custom fabricated copper. A lower standing seam metal roof was also replaced with a roll-formed double-locked copper standing seam.

24 CARTER S GROVE CARETAKER S COTTAGE WILLIAMSBURG, VIRGINIA GC: KIRBY PERKINS CONSTRUCTION Carter s Grove Plantation was established on 750 acres on the James River in Williamsburg, VA in The Georgian-style mansion designed by colonial architect and builder, Richard Taliaferro, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in November Wagner removed and replaced the Buckingham slate roof to match the original in length, width and thickness on the caretaker s residence and several other auxiliary buildings on the property. Copper gutters and downspouts were also installed.
