Alternative fuels and alternative powertrain concepts are a strategic issue for road transportation industry. IVECO has to be ready for a gradual introduction of alternatives according to the market demand. 9

19 WASTE LOGISTICS IN MADRID: FCC FCC is a holding of companies whose main activity is construction. It is situated within the most prestigious Spanish construction groups, with significant interests in other fields, so much so the level of diversification is more than 53%. In 2004 FCC s turnover reached 6,280 million euro, and they have a construction and services portfolio of nearly 19,000 million euro. 34% of their activity is in the services area; waste collection, city maintenance, street cleaning etc. 19

20 FCC Activity in waste collection FCC serves 44 million people in Spain, UK, France, Portugal, Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia, Chile, Puerto Rico, Brazil and Egypt. FCC has a fleet of 3,000 vehicles, it buys nearly 180 units per annum on the Spanish market and in the last 5 years it has bought 1,000 vehicles from IVECO. In the last year FCC has signed a contract with the EDF group to buy A.S.A., a leading company in waste collection in Central and East Europe, with business in Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Poland, in total it serves 2.5 million people. 20

21 IVECO FCC cooperation (I) FCC has a 25 year long history of cooperation with Iveco (including the previous Pegaso years) to jointly develop the best and most dedicated trucks to optimize the garbage collection service Iveco has always given full technical support to FCC to build a competitive technological and ecological advantage of the service offered to municipalities The technological advantage is to do the same job with less vehicles The ecological advantage is to be much cleaner than anybody else 21

24 FCC SITUATION Continuous need for new, performing and very competitive products to improve their offers FCC chose the CNG strategy (for example 340 CNG trucks in Madrid, 450 in Spain) New product requirements: a 2.3m wide, 26 t GVW CNG, 3 axle truck, for use in the urban centre. With the same capacity and performances of the standard 2,5 m. 24
