2 Ulverston Auction Mart Tuesday 10 th June 2014 Prime Lambs & Hoggs A pleasurable increase in buyers of up to 14 in attendance ringside ensured an optimistic trade was had throughout for the superb increase in lamb numbers forward achieving a very pleasing overall average of per head. Well graded quality lambs in the 40kg to 45kg weight range were competitively sought after peaking at ppkg for a tremendous pen of 40kg Texels exhibited by I Sweeting, Beckside being purchased by GP & JM Jones, Wrexham. Top pounds per head were purchased by A Dawson, Sedbergh realising 116 for an exceptional pen of Suffolks shown by J Woodburn, Mansriggs Hall showing a marvellous run of lambs. Hoggs are few and far between as most buyers have swapped onto lambs now. Top prices reached 80 for well finished Suffolks shown by J Hayton & Sons, Sandscale. Moor Green being purchased by Mr Towers, Aldingham. An increase in entries forward are pleasing the increased number of buyers in attendance although more could be sold. The increase in buyers are showing definite competitiveness which will only happen in the live ring. As from the 1 st April 2014 the old AML1 Licence forms are no longer acceptable. A new ARAMS 1 form will replace them. If you require them the market office has a supply of the new forms together with guidance notes. Hopefully most of you will now have received the explanatory booklet from DEFRA, which should help you clarify any problems you might have.
