1 CB11002 Campaign Bulletin TO: CC: Service Managers, Service Advisors, Warranty Administrators, Technicians, Sales Dealer Principles DATE: 03 February 2011 FROM: Gavin Young RE: (CM F/L) Rain Sensing Auto Wiper Wiring Repair Hello Team, On some Santa Fe 3.5 V6 (CM F/L) with rain-sensing windshield wipers, the speed of the wipers may not automatically switch to the high speed setting even though a considerable amount of rain water is detected by the rain sensor with the wiper switch set on AUTO mode. The reason for this is due to a missing signal wire in the engine wiring loom from the Rain Sensor wiper relay (U/H-U) to the wiper motor. Applicable Vehicles Model: Santa Fe (CM F/L) with rain sensor Production Date Range: From 1 st September 2009 to 31 st March 2010 Area: New Zealand Parts Information: Part Wiper Motor Wire Repair Kit Part Number BAA1QQH

- 5-1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF position. 2.

NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the air intake

6 Remove the junction box (E1). Remove the nuts (E2) from the terminal studs. Remove the bolts holding the junction box to the lower cover. Tightening Torque: N-m E2 E1 7. Remove the junction box lower cover (F1). Locate the U/H-U connector (F2). F1 F2 F2

Prepare the extension wire included in the Repair kit.

7 Remove the electrical tape and the back cover (G) from the U/H-U connector. G 9. Pick the retainer (H) out of the U/H-U connector. H 10. Prepare the extension wire included in the Repair kit. CAUTION - One end of the pink wire with the pre-crimped terminal (I) must be inserted into the U/H-U connector. NOTE - The length of J : is 80 mm. J I

8 Insert the pink wire with the pre-crimped terminal to terminal hole #23 (K) in the U/H- U connector. CAUTION - Push the retainer into place after inserting the pink wire to the terminal hole #23. K 12. Pull out the retainer again, remove the white wire from terminal hole #8 (L) and then join it to the blue wire of the extension wire according to the below steps. L 12.1 Strip part of the white wire insulation at 50 mm (M) from the end of the white wire and then join the exposed wires using the joint terminal. M

- 9-12-2 Slide the heat shrink tube (N) over the joint

CAUTION - Push the retainer into place after inserting

9 Slide the heat shrink tube (N) over the joint terminal and apply heat to them. N 13. Re-insert the white wire to the cavity #8 (O) In the U/H-U connector. CAUTION - Push the retainer into place after inserting the white wire to terminal hole #8. O 14. Install the back cover (P) of the U/H-U connector and wrap electrical tape. P

10 Route the extension wire (Q) through the space under the PCM (Power-train Control Module) bracket (R). R Q 16. Secure the extension wire (S) to the main wiring harness using the cable ties (T). NOTE - For the location of the cable ties, refer to the layout of the extension wire (page 3). S T 17. Remove the protector (V) from the grommet and the wiring harness. Remove the nuts (W) from the protector. W V

Release the locking tabs (Y) and then remove the protector.

11 Cut off part of the locking tabs (X) to make it easier to remove the protector from the grommet. NOTE - Refer to the below photo for details. X Release the locking tabs (Y) and then remove the protector. Y NOTE: Cut off part of the locking tab indicated by the red dotted rectangle and then remove the protector. NOTE: Z: Extension wire routing A: Grommet A Z

12 Wrap electrical tape around the ends of the extension wire to push it through the grommet. 19. Push the extension wire (B) through the gap in the grommet. B 20. Push the extension wire into the interior through the hole behind the grommet. B

13 Pull down the extension wire toward the front floor as much as possible. 22. Remove the front passenger door scuff trim (C). C 23. Remove the cowl side trim (D). D

14 Disconnect the MC241 (white) connector (E) from the multi-box. E E Front 25. Unsnap the connector retainer (G), insert the blue wire of the extension wire into the cavity #14 (H) in the MC241 connector and then snap the retainer in place. H G

16 Unsnap the retainer and then remove the pink wire from the cavity #7 (J). J 28. Strip part of the pink wire insulation at 50 mm (K) from the end of the pink wire and then join it to the pink wire of the extension wire using the joint terminal. K 29. Wrap electrical tape around the spliced and exposed wires, insert the pink wire into the cavity #7 and then snap the retainer.
