1 AVEdge 00 Installation Guide IMPORTANT: Go to for the product specifications. This guide provides instructions for an experienced installer to install and connect the Extron AVEdge 00 Cable Access Enclosure. The AVEdge 00 enclosure can be mounted to the edge of a table for cable access, connections, and AC power. It is designed for semi-permanent environments and applications where tables cannot be modified. Check with Local and State Regulations Before Starting the Installation: Ensure that the planned installation complies with building and electrical codes. Ensure that the planned installation complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act or other accessibility requirements. Check All Parts and Equipment Before Installation: Ensure that all parts are present in each kit. Ensure that necessary tools and equipment are available for the installation. Determine the Best Location for the Enclosure: Ensure that the location where the AVEdge 00 is to be installed is convenient for as many users as possible. Ensure that there is ample space under the table for the AVEdge 00 mounting clamps and for cable management. Ensure that there is enough space for the Retractor assembly under the table or furniture, if using Retractors. See dimensions for the Retractors below. NOTES: To prevent objects from impeding cable retraction, ensure at least inches of clearance from the exposed cable side of the enclosure. See the diagrams below. Excess cabling may cause clearance issues. Use zip ties to secure under-table cabling to prevent accidental contact or entanglement (see Routing and Connecting Cables on page 6). 3 Preparing the AVEdge 00 Step Assemble and install the connectivity modules or Retractor trim. Connectivity modules allow you to populate the AVEdge 00 with a combination of AAPs, cable pass-through plates, or Retractors. Follow the steps below to install the module of your choice or the Retractor trim, if using Retractors. To assemble the AAP module or Cable Pass-Through module, use the included connectivity bracket as shown below. NOTE: The bracket is intended to be used with UL Listed Extron ITE equipment. AAP Module Secure up to two single-space AAPs in the AAP plate. Secure the AAP plate on the connectivity bracket. #4-40 Plate NOTE: The modules can be installed on the left or right side of the enclosure, but the Retractor trim can only be installed on the right. #4-40 Nut with Captive Washer 4 /4" Hex Nut Driver Insert the module into the enclosure from the top. Insert cables through the bottom of the connectivity bracket. Connect cables to the AAPs. Cable Pass-Through Module Secure the cable grommet plate on the connectivity brackets, using two of the provided plate screws. #4-40 Plate Snap the included hole plugs into any unused holes. 5 Attach the module using the included bracket screws. Insert cables through the bottom of the connectivity bracket and into the holes of the grommet plate. #6- Bracket For Show Me Cables: Run the Show Me cables through the enclosure and insert them into the cable grommet plate. Attach the Show Me cable trim plate to the top of the module, using the module screws. 4 Attach the cable grommet plate to the bottom of the module, using the module screws. Insert the module into the enclosure. Attach the module using one bracket screw on the top hole only.

4 AVEdge 00 Installation Guide (Continued) Retractor Trim For Retractors, install the Retractor trim as shown at right. #6 Retractor Secure cure the Retractor trim using ng two of the provided #6 screws. Insert the Retractor trim into the right side of the enclosure. Trim Piece Tri Step (Optional) Install an pptional ZipClip and a ZipClip compatible device. Determine which ZipClip to use (depending on the device) and in which orientation (vertical or horizontal). Plan and ensure that there is ample space for the device and its cables. ZipClip 00 or ZipClip 00 Vertical Mounting ZipClip 00 only NOTE: If using Retractors, the ZipClip cannot be mounted in the horizontal orientation. 5 Mounting the AVEdge 00 Mount the AVEdge 00 on the edge of the table as shown below. Hold the assembled em mbled AVEdge enclosure os sure onto the edge e of o the table. Under the table, table turn both screw clamps and tighten them snugly to secure the enclosure. Ensure that the AVEdge 00 is firmly secured to furniture the furniture. Installing Retractors Install up to three Retractors in the Retractor trim as shown below. For horizontal or angular Retractor mounting, see below, and then install the Retractors. Angular Mounting Remove the orientation screws as shown above, and then follow this step: Insert the pin through the Retractor mounting hole on the side of the AVEdge and through the Retractor assembly. On the other side, secure the clip on the pin. Insert the Retractors into the Retractor trim. For cable pass-through applications, allow at least 6 inches (0.9 m) of cable loop for each cable. Secure cables with zip ties to the rectangular holes at the bottom of the AVEdge. Connect cables to the AV system and connect the AC power cord if using a power module Rev.
