2 Sanitary Manifolds Plumbing manifolds for Point to Point Plumbing The advantages Using manifolds reduces the number of joints by up to 75%. This leads to a significant reduction in potential installation leaks, and post installation call outs. The joints are only at the manifold and the point of use, both easy to access and visible. This all reduces maintenance costs - less time on site and down-time. No additional isolators are needed directly below each point of use, like basin taps. This manifold, when situated in the bathroom complies with WRAS regulation G G11.3, where isolation for each point of use is required. For example, you can reduce from three isolation locations in a bathroom, (some of which may not be visible to the plumber) to one location, with a consequent time saving. The point of use product can be identified, by applying a small blue or red label, with an icon designating the point of use product (labels supplied with product). Reduced installation time of between 30% and 40%, due to the elimination of so many joints. Central and individual control when maintenance is required, rather than isolating a whole system (like the mains supply tap under the kitchen sink) the service engineer can isolate individual circuits. This minimises drain-down time, and reduces system recovery issues on re-commissioning. Hot and cold plumbing application Like a safety switch A secondary function of the manifolds is to provide independent isolation for each outlet. In the unlikely event of a leak, the homeowner has the significant advantage of being able to isolate only the circuit that has the leak, and is then able to continue using all other outlets, until a professional plumber is available to carry out remedial work. Where is the leak? Unlike traditional branch plumbing systems, unless the installation team or the homeowner have damaged the pipe, there are only two places to look: either at the manifold, or at the outlet connection.this significantly reduces the time needed for a professional plumber to find and identify a leak. Once repair has been carried out, re-commissioning is very easy, with only the need to reopen the isolation valve for that one circuit. What pipe to use? The advantages of manifolds are best seen with plastic pipe although they can be used with copper tube. All Emmeti manifolds for use with potable water supplies are WRAS approved and the patented Monoblocco connector system has also been stringently tested to meet WRAS requirements. Whether for polybutylene or polyethylene, barrier or non-barrier, or multilayer composite pipe, there is almost certainly a WRAS approved Monoblocco connector to match your WRAS approved pipe. Where to locate? Current UK construction techniques often do not leave enough space for manifolds. However common practice is to locate: under the bath; the shower tray; in MDF boxed in corner; in a bathroom cabinet (dedicated or otherwise); an adjacent airing cupboard; the bathroom metal stud walls (in a cabinet); or in a duct containing the WC cistern. 2

WRAS approved together with a range of Monoblocco connectors, the system can be used with almost all of the WRAS approved pipes sold in the UK. This makes it the most comprehensive and flexible solution to hot and cold water plumbing either for new or for replacement/ refurbishment of domestic and commercial buildings Where isolation at the manifold is not required, Topway SN allows up to 12-way manifolds without needing to use two or three 4-way manifolds joined together. There are a number of different ways to mount the manifolds shown overleaf which will enable them to be used in a wide variety of locations. There is also a comprehensive range of accessories to ensure that installation is simple and convenient saving time on site.
