3 ATTACHMENT 2 Approvals Cartridge type fuseholders presently CSA Certified under class and / or Class and complying with the electrical spacings of Annex C, Table C1 for Power Distribution Equipment (i.e. formerly Table 1 of C22.2 No. 39) will remain certified in class and / or , as applicable. Cartridge type fuseholders presently Certified under class and / or Class and complying with the electrical spacings of Annex C, Table C1 for Industrial Control Equipment (i.e. formerly Table 2 of C22.2 No. 39) will remain certified in class and / or , as applicable. Cartridge type fuseholders complying with the electrical spacing requirements of their intended end use application and products not evaluated for compliance with electrical spacings, as permitted by clause 7.7 of C22.2 No / UL shall be Component Accepted and listed under class and / or as applicable. 5 ATTACHMENT 4 Background and Rationale A committee comprised of representatives of Canada, the Untied States of America and Mexico developed this tri-national standard at the request of industry Short Circuit Rating Terminal Wire Type Terminal Torque Polymeric Materials Creep-ages & Clearances IP Ratings (optional) Temperature Test Marking Class of Fuse Holder of Class CC (Line / Load) Background & Rationale Fuse and fuseholder short-circuit ratings need to match in order to prevent fuseholders with lower withstand ratings from being misapplied. The use of copper wire is assumed in Canada (i.e. CEC, Part I). The additional CU Only marking is needed for US and Mexico, since CU wire is not assumed by their national installation codes. The addition of the marking does not detract from existing Canadian practice, and prevents the need for a deviation in the standard. In Canada (CEC, Part I), this is presently in Tables D6 and D7 of C22.1. This marking is not presently required, unless the torque differs from these tables. This change is being proposed for the sake of harmonization. The addition of torque markings is needed for U.S. and Mexico, since torque requirements are not provided in the NEC or NOM-001. The addition of the marking does not detract from existing Canadian practice, and prevents the need for a deviation in the standard. The mold stress relief test is not presently required in Canada. It is being added here for the sake of harmonization. This test helps to identify materials not suitable for the application. The use of a V-2 and HB rated material is being added based on the requirements in the above table, which requires higher performance characteristics as the flammability rating decreases. Further, it is anticipated that these fuseholders are used in an overall enclosure, that are either metal or meets the requirements for polymeric enclosures. must comply with creepage and clearance distances that are suitable for the end use application. Eliminating minimum requirements for cartridge type fuseholders allows manufacturers to custom design fuseholders suitable for their intended markets. For use where specified in the end-use product standard for which the fuseholder is intended to be used. To harmonize temperature test methods. To prevent miss-application of fuseholders.
