Plug remote hrness connector into engine hrness connector nd secure in plce with hrness clmp. 3. If outord is equipped with power trim, connect lue nd green wires from remote hrness to respective leds in engine hrness (isolte rown/ white nd tn wires s these re used for ccessories). - Wrning Horn Bots equipped with Pnel or Console Mount Remote Control A Quicksilver Ignition Key/Choke Assemly equipped with wrning horn must e used with this engine. This wrning horn is necessry for the engine overhet wrning system. - Engine Hrness Connector - Power Trim Wires c - Hrness Clmp c - Wrning Horn - 8 -

4. Check tht hrness hs enough slck to llow outord to operte throughout its full steering nd tilt rnges. 5. Plce shift cle, ttery cle, nd remote control wire hrness in openings in grommet. Secure grommet in ottom cowl with retiner nd screws. - Opening for Bttery Cle - Opening for Control Hrness c - Opening for shift cle d - Retiner e - Screws Bttery Connections Port Bottom Cowl Grommet CAUTION Filure to oserve correct polrity when connecting ttery cles to ttery will result in dmge to the chrging system. Connect ttery cles from engine to ttery. Connect red ttery cle to positive ttery terminl nd lck ttery cle to negtive ttery terminl. (+) Propeller Selection ( ) Refer to Quicksilver Accessory Guide for complete list of ville propellers. For est ll round performnce from your outord/ ot comintion, select propeller tht llows the engine to operte in the upper hlf of the recommended full throttle RPM rnge with the ot normlly loded (refer to Specifictions in the Opertors Mnul). This RPM rnge llows for etter ccelertion while mintining mximum ot speed. If chnging conditions cuse the RPM to drop elow the recommended rnge (such s wrmer, more humid wether, opertion t higher elevtions, incresed ot lod or dirty ot ottom/ger cse) this my require propeller chnge or clening to mintin performnce nd ensure the outord s durility. Check full-throttle RPM using n ccurte tchometer with the engine trimmed out to lnced steering condition (steering effort equl in oth directions) without cusing the propeller to rek loose. Propeller Instlltion When the propeller shft is rotted nd the engine is in ger, there is the possiility for the engine to crnk over nd strt. To prevent this type of ccidentl engine strting nd possile serious injury cused from eing struck y rotting propeller, lwys set the remote control into neutrl nd remove sprk plug leds when you re servicing the propeller. CAUTION If the propeller moves forwrd-nd-ft on the propeller shft (is loose), retighten the propeller nut. Opertion with loose propeller could cuse dmge to the thrust hu nd ger housing during ccelertion, decelertion or when shifting gers. IMPORTANT: To ssure tht the propeller remins secure on the shft during the seson, periodiclly check propeller locknut for tightness. To prevent the propeller hu from corroding nd seizing to the propeller shft, especilly in slt wter, lwys pply cot of Quicksilver Anti-Corrosion Grese to the entire shft t recommended mintennce intervls nd ech time the propeller is removed. 1. Shift remote control into neutrl position. 2. Remove leds from sprk plugs to prevent engine from strting

3. Apply Quicksilver Anti-Corrosion Grese to entire shft. 4. Instll thrust wsher (), propeller (), propeller nut retiner (c), nd propeller nut (d) onto the shft. 5. Plce lock of wood etween ger cse nd propeller nd torque propeller locknut to 55 l. ft. (75 N m), ligning ts of wsher with flt grooves of propeller hu. 6. Secure propeller nut y ending three of the ts into the thrust hu grooves. - Thrust Wsher - Propeller c - Propeller Nut Retiner d - Propeller Nut Power Trim System Generl Informtion The power trim system is filled t the mnufcturer nd is redy for use. Trim outord through entire trim nd tilt rnge severl times to remove ny ir from the system. The trim system is pressurized nd is not externlly vented. Power Trim Opertion With most ots, operting round the middle of the trim rnge will give stisfctory results. However, to tke full dvntge of the trimming cpility there my e times when you choose to trim your outord ll the wy in or out. Along with n improvement in some performnce spects comes greter responsiility for the opertor, nd this is eing wre of some potentil control hzrds. The most significnt control hzrd is pull or torque tht cn e felt on the steering wheel or tiller hndle. This steering torque results from the outord eing trimmed so tht the propeller shft is not prllel to the wter surfce. c d IMPORTANT: Avoid possile serious injury or deth. When the outord is trimmed in or out eyond neutrl steering condition, pull on the steering wheel or tiller hndle in either direction my result. Filure to keep continuous firm grip on the steering wheel or tiller hndle when this condition exists cn result in loss of ot control s the outord cn turn freely. The ot cn now spin out or go into very tight mximum turn which, if unexpected, cn result in occupnts eing thrown within the ot or out of the ot. Consider the following lists crefully. TRIMMING IN OR DOWN CAN: 1. Lower the ow. 2. Result in quicker plning off, especilly with hevy lod or stern hevy ot. 3. Generlly improve the ride in choppy wter. 4. Increse steering torque or pull to the right (with the norml right hnd rottion propeller). 5. In excess, lower the ow of some ots to point where they egin to plow with their ow in the wter while on plne. This cn result in n unexpected turn in either direction clled ow steering or over steering if ny turn is ttempted or if significnt wve is encountered. Avoid possile serious injury or deth. Adjust outord to n intermedite trim position s soon s ot is on plne to void possile ejection due to ot spin-out. Do not ttempt to turn ot when on plne if outord is trimmed extremely in or down nd there is pull on the steering wheel or tiller hndle. TRIMMING OUT OR UP CAN: 1. Lift the ow higher out of the wter. 2. Generlly increse top speed. 3. Increse clernce over sumerged ojects or shllow ottom. 4. Increse steering torque or pull to the left t norml instlltion height (with the norml right hnd rottion propeller). 5. In excess, cuse ot porpoising (ouncing) or propeller ventiltion. 6. Cuse engine overheting if ny wter intke holes re ove the wter line

Trim In Angle Adjustment (Models With Power Trim) Some outord ots, prticulrly some ss ots, re uilt with greter thn norml trnsom ngle which will llow the outord to e trimmed further in or under. This greter trim under cpility is desirle to improve ccelertion, reduce the ngle nd time spend in ow high ot ttitude during plning off, nd in some cses, my e necessry to plne off ot with ft live wells, given the vriety of ville propellers nd height rnge of engine instlltions. However, once on plne, the engine should e trimmed to more intermedite position to void ow-down plning condition clled plowing. Plowing cn cuse ow steering or over steering nd inefficiently consumes horsepower. In this condition, if ttempting turn or encountering digonl, moderte wke, more rupt turn thn intended my result. In rre circumstnces, the owner my decide to limit the trim under. This cn e ccomplished y purchsing stinless steel tilt pin (P/N A1) nd inserting it through whtever pin hole is desired. The non-stinless steel shipping olt should not e used in this ppliction other thn on temporry sis. IMPORTANT: Avoid possile serious injury or deth. Adjust outord to n intermedite trim position s soon s ot is on plne to void possile ejection due to ot spin-out. Do not ttempt to turn ot when on plne if outord is trimmed extremely in or down nd there is pull on the steering wheel or tiller hndle. Checking Power Trim Fluid Level 1. Tilt outord to the full up position nd engge the tilt support lever. 2. Remove fill cp nd check fluid level. The fluid level should e even with the ottom of the fill hole. If necessry, dd Quicksilver Power Trim & Steering Fluid or utomotive trnsmission fluid (ATF) Type F, FA or Dexron II. - Fill Cp Tilt Pin Adjustment (Models Without Power Trim) DO NOT operte ot without the tilt pin instlled. Filure to instll tilt pin could result in outord kicking up when operted in reverse cusing serious injury, deth, or property dmge. Plce tilt pin in desired hole in the trnsom rcket so the outord will run perpendiculr to the wter when the ot is running t full speed. This llows the ot to e driven prllel to the wter. - Stinless Steel Tilt Pin (P/N A1) - Tilt Pin Consider the following lists crefully when djusting the tilt pin

PLACING TILT PIN IN LOWER HOLES CAN: 1. PLACING TILT PIN IN UPPER HOLES CAN: 1. Lift the ow out of the wter. MODELS WITHOUT POWER TRIM Operte your ot t norml cruising speed trimmed to desired position y instlling the tilt pin in the desired tilt pin hole. Turn your ot left nd right nd note the direction the ot turns more esily. If djustment is necessry, loosen trim t olt nd mke smll djustments t time. If the ot turns more esily to the left, move the triling edge of trim t to the left. If the ot turns more esily to the right move the triling edge of trim t to the right. Retighten olt nd retest. MODELS WITH POWER TRIM Operte your ot t norml cruising speed, trimmed to desired position. Trim T Adjustment Propeller steering torque will cuse your ot to pull in one direction. This steering torque is norml thing tht results from your outord not eing trimmed so the propeller shft is prllel to the wter surfce. The trim t cn help to compenste for this steering torque in mny cses nd cn e djusted within limits to reduce ny unequl steering effort. NOTE: Trim t djustment will hve little effect reducing steering torque if the outord is instlled with the nti-ventiltion plte pproximtely 2 inches (50mm) or more ove the ot ottom

Bot Performnce Test Instructions IMPORTANT: A tight grip on the steering wheel/ tiller hndle is lwys dvisle when ccelerting, decelerting, or when trimming the ot. On models with Power Trim, upon reching cruising speed, the outord should e trimmed to otin lnced steering condition. While trimming, steering lods will vry nd will pull in one direction until lnced steering condition is otined. If the outord is trimmed pst the lnced steering condition, the steering wheel/ tiller hndle then will hve tendency to pull in the opposite direction. Excessive trimming pst the lnced steering position will result in incresed steering lods, nd, in most ot pplictions, decrese in performnce. CAUTION When trimming ot with dul outords, oth outords should e t pproximtely the sme tilt ngle nd e tilted out (up) simultneously (to prevent ot from pitching side-to-side) until desired ot ttitude is chieved. Outords cn then e trimmed individully to precisely djust ot trim ngle nd pitch. 1. With ot in wter, trim the outord(s) (trim utton in remote control hndle) so tht the decl on the side cowl is horizontl. This is typicl setting tht should give resonle ccelertion nd top speed. 2. Go for short fmiliriztion ride t vrious throttle nd trim settings BEFORE strting testing. 3. When mking either top speed or ccelertion runs, est ccurcy will e otined y running with or ginst ny wind. Side winds require driving in constnt turn to keep the ot running stright-hed. If winds re 10 MPH (16 km/hr) or greter, it is suggested tht ll ccelertion runs e mde down wind. 4. The top speed WOT (wide open throttle) test should e done with the ot normlly loded (to duplicte ctul running conditions). Operte ot in ger t WOT nd check RPM. Engine RPM must e within the recommended full throttle RPM rnge (listed in Opertion nd Mintennce Mnul). NOTE: When performing n ccelertion test, it is recommended tht stop wtch e used to improve testing ccurcy. A wrist wtch with second hnd my e sustituted. 5. An ccelertion test cn lso e performed if desired. Strt the test with ot motionless in the wter nd outord in neutrl. A stop wtch should e strted s the throttle is quickly pushed to WOT (wide open throttle). Stop the wtch s the speedometer needle sweeps pst 20 MPH (32 km/hr). Severl runs should e mde to ssure good verge. 6. Prop rek loose (sudden high RPM), if not excessive, in some cses cn e eneficil during ccelertion. If undesirle rek loose occurs, it cn e decresed y trimming the outord further under. If it remins excessive with ll similr propellers, the outord must e lowered. 7. It is suggested tht ll pplicle dt e recorded on chrt nd retined for future reference. 8. After severl propellers of different pitch nd/or design hve een tried, select one tht est services the generl purpose of the ot. The selected propeller should enle the engine to operte within its recommended full throttle RPM rnge, without excessive propeller rek loose during ccelertion or turns. A second propeller, which would mke oth suitle spre or specil purpose lternte, might lso e desirle. NOTE: A higher pitch often gives etter top speed, ut the next lower pitch gives dequte top speed with much etter ccelertion
