1 Digital Positioner Characteristics Easy configuration - Excellent process control performance - Self calibration - Configuration via local adjustment or via software - Usual characterization curves or defined by user Easy installation - Same product for mounting on single and double acting actuator, rotary and linear valve - By selecting from the magnet it is possible the mounting on rotary and linear actuators - Mounting support for several valve manufacturers Local interface - Rotary display facilitates reading in any position. - Local adjustment without opening the equipment Valve diagnostics - Diagnostics for control valve maintenance The digital positioner PFLEX-PD through the digital communication by using HART protocol receives an input signal and it controls the supply pressure to the actuator of the control valve providing an accurate positioning of the valve shaft proportional to the input signal. The digital positioner PD provides easy access to important information concerning the valve assembly. The diagnostic function assists in the reviewing of the valve performance by comparing the valve signature (benchtop adjustment, seat load, friction, etc.). 2 Operation The PFLEX PD is a digital positioner powered by the 4-20 ma based on a microprocessor control. The setting can be either by the local configuration or by a configuration software for the PC connected to the current loop or to the positioner. The microcontroller controls the valve position, in addition to constantly measures the input signal, the valve position, the ambient temperature and the control signal for self-diagnostics of failures. The microcontroller algorithm compares the input signal and the reading of the signal from the position sensor. Based on information from the input signal and the position sensor, the microcontroller calculates the new current required to the coil. The change in coil current modifies the signal pressure to the diaphragm, where the spool is also bustling, providing air to the positioner output that it is connected to the actuator input. The actuator movement, after receiving the air supply of the spool, is transmitted back to the positioner by the movement of the magnet and change of the sign of the Hall effect sensor. The actuator shaft continues its movement until the position sensor indicates the desired position, thus reducing the air flow to the actuator until there is no more air flow to the actuator. A change in the input signal will initiate again, the actions described above, causing another movement of the actuator shaft.
