A Pair of VirtualKeys These ingenious proximity keys that are attached to your car keys communicate through the airwaves with the engine immobilization system even before you insert your car key into the ignition switch. These keys are truly virtual since they are completely user-transparent. There is nothing you need to do in order to either arm or disarm your VirtualKey AutoImmobilizer. 280,000,000,000,000 Digital Codes Each VirtualKey utilizes a truly unique digital code selected from a code universe of more than 280,000,000,000,000 digital codes. No two VirtualKeys will ever have the same code. Even if a thief had the ability to rapidly create codes, it would still take millions of years of constant work! User-Transparent Arming and Disarming There are no remote controls, no personal codes to remember, no receptors to touch, no trouble whatsoever. The driver of the vehicle does absolutely nothing in order to arm or disarm the VirtualKey AutoImmobilizer. It s all automatic and user-transparent. Incredibly Rugged These little keyfobs have no battery to run down nor mechanical parts to wear out. VirtualKeys are weather-proof, water-proof and virtually indestructible. MultiPoint Immobilization with On-Board Relays Three on-board circuits electronically interrupt the ignition system, starter motor and the electric fuel pump or other device to make it virtually impossible for a thief to start your vehicle. Attempted Theft Alert For maximum theft alert, the system will sound an alarm by triggering the car horn or optional siren if the door is opened and the ignition key that has the VirtualKey attached has not been inserted into the ignition switch. The horn/siren will sound for up to five siren duration cycles of 30 seconds each. 1

3 Standard Features (cont.) MultiKey Recognition The VirtualKey AutoImmobilizer accepts up to 30 different VirtualKeys. MultiCar Protection If you have more than one car, you can use any of the VirtualKeys to control any or all of your other vehicles, even if each vehicle has an entirely different ignition key. AutoArming The system arms itself automatically (passively) sixty seconds after you remove your key from the ignition switch. There is nothing that you need to do or remember to make sure your valuable vehicle is protected. This may qualify you for an insurance discount that can pay for the system. Instant Code Learning You can easily add new VirtualKeys in seconds, yet it s totally secure. Instant Code Deletion If one of the VirtualKeys is ever lost or stolen, a simple procedure will clear all the VirtualKey codes from the system s non-volatile memory so that the remaining VirtualKeys may be reprogrammed into the system. Dual Grounds To thwart tampering and assure unfailing operation. Non-Volatile Memory The VirtualKey AutoImmobilizer remembers all the VirtualKey codes associated with your system even if the power is disconnected. Fault-Proof Driving Safety Clifford s unique electronic circuitry assures that the VirtualKey AutoImmobilizer cannot inadvertently shut down the car s engine while the owner is driving. Sabotage-Proof Electronics Since no thief can outsmart the VirtualKey AutoImmobilizer, what about brute force? That won t do it either. Even if the thief found the system control unit and ripped it out of the car, the engine still won t start! High-Luminescence LED Status Indicator Indicates system status and provides visual deterrence. 2

4 Operation of your VirtualKey AutoImmobilizer Proper Attachment of the VirtualKey to the Ignition Key The VirtualKey MUST BE ATTACHED DIRECTLY to the vehicle s ignition key and NOT to a keychain. The reason is that the VirtualKey code must be electronically read through the airwaves by the AutoImmobilizer s antenna, which is located near your vehicle s ignition switch. Since the range is, by design, only a few inches, the closer the VirtualKey is to the antenna, the better is the likelihood of trouble-free operation. To drive your vehicle When the system is active, the dashboard or console-mounted LED will be flashing. When you open your car door, you must immediately insert your car key into the ignition switch (otherwise the horn or optional siren will sound). When you insert your car key, the Virtual Key comes into close proximity to the VirtualKey detector mounted near the ignition switch. The system instantly reads and verifies the secret code of the VirtualKey and, if it matches, releases its electronic immobilization of your vehicle s starter motor, ignition system and electronic fuel pump. The LED turns off to confirm this. AutoArming There s nothing you need to do to set the VirtualKey AutoImmobilizer. Sixty seconds after you remove your key from the ignition switch, the system automatically engages its electronic immobilization of your vehicle s starter motor, ignition system and electronic fuel pump. When it does so, the LED status indicator will flash repeatedly. Even if a thief has an exact duplicate of your car key, he still won t be able to start the engine. In fact, if he tries to start it without your VirtualKey in place, the system will sound the horn or optional siren and continue its triple lockout of the starter, ignition and fuel pump. 3

5 Adding New VirtualKeys Your VirtualKey AutoImmobilizer will accept as many as 30 different VirtualKeys. To add additional VirtualKeys to your system, do the following: 1. Remove the VirtualKey from your ignition key. 2. Open a door and leave it open. 3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. 4. Immediately bring the VirtualKey you removed within an inch of the ignition switch. The LED will turn off (system is disarmed). As soon as the LED turns off, move the VirtualKey away. Repeat this for a total of 5 times. When you bring the VirtualKey into range the 5th time, the LED will light and remain lit to indicate the system is in program mode. 5. Within 60 seconds, bring each new VirtualKey to within an inch of the ignition switch. When you do so, you will note that the LED will blink off once to indicate that that VirtualKey has been registered and the system will now accept it. Repeat this step for any other VirtualKeys you wish to add. 6. Turn the ignition off to end program mode. How to Delete the Code(s) of Lost or Stolen VirtualKeys(s) You can erase the codes of lost or stolen VirtualKeys so that they can never be used disarm your VirtualKey AutoImmobilizer. When you have completed steps 1-5 of this section, you MUST follow the procedure above to add all remaining VirtualKeys to the system, otherwise the system will respond to ANY unprogrammed VirtualKey. 1. Remove the VirtualKey from your ignition key. 2. Open a door and leave it open. 3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. 4. Immediately bring the VirtualKey you removed within an inch of the ignition switch to disarm (LED will turn off), then move it away. Repeat this for a total of 5 times, then, on the 5th time hold it within an inch of the ignition switch for 30 seconds. When you do so, the LED will light and stay lit to indicate program mode. After 30 seconds of holding it in place, the LED will turn off to indicate all codes have been erased from memory. 5. Turn the ignition off to end programming mode. 6. IMPORTANT: At this stage, your system will disarm when ANY VirtualKey is used, so immediately use the Adding New VirtualKeys procedure above to add all your remaining VirtualKeys. 4
