2 Unpacking the Rack Mount Kit The following items are included in your Raidtec Rack Mount Kit. Check this list before installation to ensure that you have received each item. If you are missing any item, please contact your Plasmon reseller. 3 Warning Read instructions carefully before attempting to mount a system. Elevated Operating mbient Temperature - If equipment is installed in a closed or multi-unit rack assembly, the operating ambient temperature of the rack environment may be greater than room ambient. Therefore, consideration should be given to installing the equipment in an environment compatible with the maximum ambient temperature (Tma) - 40 C. Reduced ir Flow - Installation of the equipment in a rack should be such that the amount of air flow required for safe operation of the equipment is not compromised, i.e. do not block enclosure vents or mount the system in a built-in installation unless proper ventilation is provided. Mechanical Overloading - Mounting of the equipment in the rack should be such that a hazardous condition is not achieved due to uneven mechanical loading. Circuit Overloading - Consideration should be given to the connection of the equipment to the supply circuit and the effect that overloading of the circuits might have on overcurrent protection and supply wiring. ppropriate consideration of equipment nameplate ratings should be used when addressing this concern. Reliable Earthing - Reliable earthing of rack-mounted equipment should be maintained. Particular attention should be given to supply connections other than direct connections to the branch circuit (e.g. use of power strips). 2 or more people are required to mount the system into the rack do not attempt this with 1 person. Do not insert disks into your system until it is fully mounted to do this may cause damage or injury. This Rack Mount Kit is designed for use with Raidtec X3000, CS3102, FS3102, SNZ S4, SNZ S8, SNZ S12 and SNZ 8 systems. Plasmon accept no responsibility if you attempt to mount other systems with this kit. Note The large screws (J) are not used in this mounting procedure and may be discarded. 4 Rack Mounting Procedure 1 Separate the fixed rail () from the sliding rail () a) Slide towards the flanged end of until you hear a click. b) Push in the recess catch button and continue to slide until and are fully separated. c) Repeat for the other rail. Catch button 2 ttach the sliding rail () to the system to be mounted a) Offer up to the system to be mounted with the notch at the end of inserted into the retaining notch on the system enclosure. b) The 3 screw holes to the rear of the enclosure should now line up with 3 screw holes on. Secure to the enclosure with 3 (may be 2 or 4, depending on the system) of the small screws (H). Tighten the screws fully. Warning: Do not use screws other than H (8mm); to do so may damage internal components. Retaining notch ttach screws here Rear of enclosure c) Repeat on the other side of the system enclosure. H 4

5 3 ttach the L brackets (C or D) to the fixed rail () a) You must decide whether you need to use the long L bracket (C) or the short L bracket (D) and whether you need to have them rear facing or forward facing. This is determined by the depth of the cabinet into which you are mounting the system. b) Try the short L bracket (D) first by attaching it (forward facing) to the fixed rail () following procedure 3-c below. Then offer up to the cabinet rack. Go through the 4 possible configurations until you find the one that fits your cabinet rack depth. Forward facing D G + I Rear facing c) Secure the L bracket (C or D) to the fixed rail () using 4 of the medium screws (I) and 4 of the hex nuts (G). Do not tighten fully at this stage allow the L bracket to slide for adjustment. Use these 4 screw holes d) Repeat for the second rail. 4 ttach the mounting brackets (E and F) to the cabinet rack a) Place the 4mm threaded bracket (E) on the interior of the cabinet rack and the 5mm threaded bracket (F) on the exterior. Making sure that you allow for enough space between system enclosures. b) ttach E and F to the rack using 3 medium screws (I). Do not tighten the screws fully allow a gap for the rail brackets. c) Repeat for the front and rear and on both sides until you have 4 mounting points on your cabinet racking. 6 5 ttach the fixed rail () to the cabinet rack a) Insert the fixed rail bracket into the gap left between the mount brackets at the front of the cabinet rack. Place rail bracket into this gap b) Insert the L bracket (C or D) - that you attached to previously - into the same gap at the rear of the cabinet rack. c) Tighten the screws (I) on the mounting brackets fully, front and back, left and right. d) Tighten the L bracket screws (G and I) at the rear of the cabinet on both sides. e) The rack is now mounted and is ready to receive the system enclosure. 6 Insert the system enclosure into the cabinet a) lign the sliding rails () with the fixed rails () on both sides of the cabinet and slide the enclosure forward until it stops. Two people are required for this task. b) Push in the recess catch button on both sides and slide the enclosure forward until it stops again. c) Push in the catch button spring on both sides and slide the enclosure fully into the cabinet. Push in catch button and spring Congratulations you have successfully mounted your Raidtec system. 6
