2 2 MAGNALOCKS MAGLOCK ( ) MAGNALOCKS The Electromagnetic Lock System That Will Outlast Your Building Model 34R Model 32 Model 62 SAM the Shear Aligning Magnalock 2 Model 82 MAGNALOCK OVERVIEW Magnalocks are designed to secure any type of door or gate that closes against a fixed stop. The product consists of an electromagnet which mounts on the fixed frame and a strike plate which mounts on the moving door or gate. The strike plate is delivered with fasteners that permit it to flex so that when the door closes, it automatically self aligns with the magnet. Magnetic force then takes over, strongly securing the door. Release is achieved by switching off power to the magnet. CHOOSE THE INDUSTRY LEADER Securitron has been making electromagnetic locks since 1971 and has stayed at the forefront thanks to a continuing program of engineering improvements. In security industry trade journals, both installing dealers as well as end users have consistently chosen the Magnalock as the most highly preferred product. We attribute this not only to the product s features but to its proven performance in demanding applications. SELECT FROM A COMPLETE FAMILY Model 34 The Model 32 and 34 series provide 600 pounds traffic control security similar to electric strikes, and are recommended for applications where a physical assault on the door is not expected. Primary advantages of the Model 32 and 34 are lower cost and more compact size. For sliding doors, the Model 34R series offers recessed mounting and results in 600 pounds of esthetically concealed holding power. The Model 62 series offers higher security with 1,200 pounds holding force. Entry cannot be forced without special tools, or before the door or frame gives way. It s recommended not only for high security openings, but for outdoor use on all gate types, too. At 1,800 pounds, the Model 82SC series puts out maximum MagPower! Applications for the Model 82SC include prison facilities, or anywhere an extra margin of strength is required. Model 82SC is also effective on large exterior gates; or with a split strike plate on double doors. The incredible Shear Aligning Magnalock SAM for short permits concealed mounting in aluminum, wood and steel doors for the ultimate in finished appearance. SAM delivers 1,000 pounds holding force, maintains swing through operation on double-acting doors, and even works on motorized bi-parting doors! ELECTROMAGNETIC LOCKS HIGH TECHNOLOGY MEANS PERFORMANCE IN YOUR APPLICATION Creating the world s best electromagnetic lock calls for serious engineering. During its years of continued development, the Magnalock family has incorporated an array of advanced features (both physical and electronic) that have made it what it is today. Along the way, it has earned two separate U.S. patents and an impressive list of certifications. PHYSICAL CONSTRUCTION AND MOUNTING A lock should be tough. The Magnalock comes in a stainless steel case and all ferrous metal surfaces are plated to military specifications. A 10 ft. integral cable makes wiring easy and the Magnalock is at home indoors or out. Mounting is via hardened machine screws into self-collapsing blind nuts (four screws with the Model 62 and 82SC; two with the Model 32 and 34). Mounting screw holes are closed off

3 An ASSA ABLOY Group company with tamper caps. Sheet metal screws which can work free are not used at all. Even the strike sex bolt has a massive 1-1/4" diameter head. While the standard mounting hardware resists casual vandalism and is considerably stronger than the holding force of the Magnalock, Securitron can supply tamper proof hardware as an option for high vandalism areas. Securitron tamper proof fasteners require special tools for installation and removal. We can supply these tools for hand or battery drill operation. Models 34R and SAM shear lock require mortising. ELECTRONIC PERFORMANCE First, Magnalocks are remarkably efficient in power use. The 62 series operates on only 3 watts. (250 ma at 12 VDC or 125 ma at 24VDC.) The 32 series uses 3-1/2 watts. (300 ma at 12 VDC or 150 ma at 24 VDC.) The 34 series, 82 series and SAM draw only 4 watts. This benefit is especially important when large numbers of Magnalocks are operated from a central power supply connected to the fire alarm system. Magnalock efficiency generates large cost savings in wire gauge, power supply and battery backup costs. Second, internal electronics eliminate problems often found in other designs. We reverse out residual magnetism and accelerate field collapse so that inductive kickback and EMI are suppressed so there s no arcing over control switches or interference with nearby electronic devices. Ferrous metal aging which could lead to stickiness over time is blocked. A U.S. patent has been granted on the Magnalock s internal electronics. THE BENEFITS OF SECURING DOORS WITH MAGNETIC FORCE ALONE Electromechanical strikes and locks have been around longer, but magnetic locks are increasingly dominating the industry. Why? We see four answers: Reliability, Security, Safety and Simplicity of Installation. Reliability. Anything mechanical wears out. The Magnalock has MAGNALOCKS no moving parts and therefore possesses an unlimited operating life. Not many products perform for decades with no attention, but you can get this performance when you select the Magnalock. In addition, the Magnalock is unmatched in functional reliability. It releases every time when switched off, as there is nothing to jam. Because of its selfaligning strike, it secures every time the door closes. Problems of stiff latches and misaligned bolts simply don t exist. Security. Electromechanical strikes and locks are positioned between the door and frame. They can be successfully attacked with a saw, or by spreading the door from the frame with a lever. The Magnalock mounts on the other side of the door from an intruder. The intruder must defeat the door itself to get at the lock. And in addition, the holding force of the Magnalock can be selected by choosing the appropriate model to exceed the strength of the door. Mounting position of the Magnalock at the top of the door enhances security by allowing the door to flex during an impact attack. Extremely stiff doors, like those found in prisons, can benefit from the EASB Magnalock accessory which creates a shock absorbing effect (see Magnalock options). Safety. Magnalocks are often employed to secure doors that are also emergency exit paths. In the event of a fire, it is vital for life safety that the doors immediately release to permit evacuation. This is done by routing the lock DC power through auxiliary contacts operated by the building fire alarm system. When the fire alarm activates, power is removed from all the locks. As there is nothing to jam, the Magnalocks release every time. Installation Simplicity. The Magnalock surface mounts using only a drill and allen wrench. There is no routing, mortising or carpentry work needed. It also effortlessly handles all the unusual situations where electromechanical locks and strikes don t work: Narrow stile doors, double doors, roll-up doors, solid glass doors, badly fitting doors, swinging or sliding gates of all types. Bring them on! Smart dual voltage. All Magnalock models except Model 32 automatically determine and adapt to 12 or 24 volt power by drawing the correct amount of current. 4 4 MAGNALOCKS MAGLOCK ( ) MAGNALOCK OPTIONS SENSTAT: A LOCK THAT MONITORS ITSELF Securitron s patented Senstat option provides a lock status sensing signal which positively indicates that the door is secure. This interfaces with access control or alarm systems and is superior to the commonly used door switch which indicates that the door is closed but not that it is secure. Magnalocks can be optionally furnished in full-length housings to provide the ultimate in security and finished appearance. Housings may be selected in vertical or horizontal configurations with one or two locks. The addition of the second lock is either for enhanced security, or for a double door. The completed installation provides unmatched architectural appearance and vandal resistance and security. Full-length housings provide the ultimate in security and esthetics. The unique mounting design allows the use of new or existing locks. Single and double versions are available. The Z bracket on this inswinging door includes a dress cover for an architecturally attractive appearance. Model 62SCF shown. 5 An ASSA ABLOY Group company MAGNALOCK OPTIONS FACE MOUNT VERSION INSWINGING DOOR MOUNT Magnalock Model 32F Face Mounted version. Standard Magnalocks are suspended from the door frame so that the door swings away from the magnet body, This is the preferred mounting method, but if the door swings into the protected area, security considerations may dictate that the lock is mounted on the inswinging side of the door. The F option provides for face mounting on the header above the door. Mounting holes are drilled through the magnet face and the wire exit is to the rear. The Z-32/34/62 and 82 bracket is normally used with F Magnalocks. DOUBLE MAGNET CONFIGURATION MAGNALOCKS For double doors without a central mullion, the DM-62 supplies two model 62 Magnalocks in a single brushed stainless steel housing for the ultimate in architectural appeal. The 22" wide housing provides adequate lock separation for internal obstructions often found in double doors, and electrically, the two locks are controlled as one. Securitron s Senstat lock status reporting option is also available on the DM-62. The Double 62 5 Magnalock Model 82SCF Face Mounted version. CONDUIT FITTING OPTION Magnalock Model 82SCFG with Universal Conduit Fitting. The G option (available on the 62 and 82 series only) adds a 1/2" female-3/4" male universal conduit fitting to allow conduit wiring for outdoor installations. The G version is also useful for surface wired installations on concrete filled door frames. This avoids the cost of drilling a wire way in the concrete. ENERGY ABSORBING HARDWARE OPTION Energy Absorbing Sex Bolt (EASB) for Model 62 or 82SC Magnalock. The EASB is specifically designed for high security applications on stiff doors (such as prison doors) where the door opens outwards into the protected area. This permits an impact attack (as opposed to pulling the door). When the door is quite rigid, the force of the impact transmits well to the lock. The EASB replaces the standard sex bolt and includes a powerful internal spring which absorbs and dissipates the force of the blow, replicating Magnalock performance on a more flexible door and preserving optimum security. HARDWARE ACCESSORIES Magnalock Model 62G with Universal Conduit Fitting. RECESSED, CONCEALED MOUNTING Magnalock Model 62FG Face Mounted version. For many applications like sliding doors only a totally invisible finished appearance will do. Models 34R and SAM accomplish the job with minimum installation hassle. The SlimLine Model 34R The Stop Filler Plate is used in installations where only part of the magnet body is on the stop. The plate extends the stop to provide a flat mounting surface for the magnet. Stop Filler Plates are 8 (Models 32 and 62) or 12 long (Model 82) with a varying thickness to match the stop thickness. Thicknesses offered are: 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 and 5/8 with a finish suffix of CL for clear anodized aluminum or BK for black anodized aluminum. The Glass Door Bracket permits Magnalock installation on a solid glass door. The bracket is permanently glued to the glass via a special adhesive. The strike plate then screws into the bracket, as glass doors cannot be drilled. The part numbers are: GDB (bracket) and AKG (adhesive kit). 5

6 6 MAGNALOCKS MAGLOCK ( ) The Aluminum Frame Shim Bracket is for use with aluminum frame glass doors. The bracket spaces the magnet body down 1/2 to clear the blade stop and provides alternate mounting hardware for the strike plate as with the magnet body spaced down, the standard sex bolt can interfere with the glass. The part numbers are ASB-32/62/82 with a finish suffix, or BK for black anodized aluminum. The Universal Header Bracket is used to extend a narrow header (often found on aluminum frame glass doors) to permit mounting of the Magnalock. The bracket is positioned either to extend 1 or 1-1/2 and also serves to conceal the hookup cable within its hollow interior. Model UHB works with Model 32, 34 or 62 series Magnalocks and the longer UHB-82 works with the Model 82. Both with a finish suffix of CL for clear anodized aluminum or BK for black anodized aluminum. The Concrete/Wood Frame Bracket is used on concrete filled or wood door frames. On concrete frames, the bracket anchors to the frame via sheet metal screws and the magnet mounts to the bracket via machine screws. The bracket includes a central splice area and avoids the problem of drilling a wireway through the concrete. On wood frames, 4 wood screws are employed to penetrate deeply into the header. Separate part numbers are used for the Model 32, 62, and 82 series Magnalock CWB-32, CWB-62, CWB-82 with a finish suffix of CL for clear anodized aluminum or BK for black anodized aluminum. Finally, the Covers are available in four finishes allowing easy alteration of the Magnalock finish to suit architectural considerations. Double Dress Covers are available in two finishes which will cover a pair of Magnalocks on a double door assuming they are separated by not more than two inches. MAGNALOCKS 7 DDC-32/34/62CL (Clear anodized aluminum). DDC-32/62/34BK (Black anodized aluminum). Offset Strikes are available for the 62 & 82 series only. The offset strike alters by 1/4 the position of the mounting hole which is occasionally necessary for certain narrow aluminum glass doors to avoid the sex bolt hitting the glass. Split strikes allow a single 62 or 82 series Magnalock to secure a double door at traffic control holding force level. Model 62 Magnalock is shown in horizontal mount with an anodized Dress Cover and Universal Header Bracket on an aluminum frame glass door. The Bracket includes a cover which gives the installation an attractive finished appearance. The assembly is available in three finishes. The surface mounted Magnalock family requires only a drill and allen wrenches for mounting. All fasteners are of the socket cap type for greatest strength and professional results. Magnalocks come with a complete fastener set which includes flush finish tamper caps (A) and a tool (B) for collapsing the blind nuts (C). 7

Door Control 10 OVERVIEW Securitron s revolutionary Shear Aligning Magnalock (SAM) permits concealed mounting in aluminum, wood and steel doors for the ultimate in finished appearance. Both the magnet and the strike plate assembly take up only 1-1/2" (38 mm) width in the door and the door frame which permits use on nearly all commercial doors. The SAM also maintains swing through operation on double acting doors and may even be employed on motorized bi-parting doors with a breakaway escape feature. 12 12 UNLATCH UNLATCH MAGLOCK ( ) ELECTRONIC STRIKE A Revolutionary Breakthrough In Access Control Technology 12 OVERVIEW Securitron s patented UnLatch is a completely new type of electric door releasing device which sweeps away the limitations inherent in traditional electric strike designs. The UnLatch screws into the existing door frame in seconds. There is no need for routing a special cut-out. This not only saves on installation labor, but maintains the original strength and integrity of the door frame and yields a fully concealed installation for maximum esthetic appeal. The UnLatch truly merits being called revolutionary. HOW IT WORKS Basic operation of the UnLatch is the same as electric strikes. An access device (such as a card reader or digital keypad) activates the UnLatch for controlled entry. Egress is accomplished by simply turning the lock set lever or knob from the inside. Conventional electric strikes include a plate called the keeper or gate which is electrically released to swing out and thereby allows the latch to move through the space the keeper has vacated. This keeper movement is the reason why a special cut needs to be made in the door frame. The cutout provides a space for the keeper to swing in to. The UnLatch however uses a motor driven plunger to push the latch back in to the door. There is no keeper and no reason to route out the door frame. For dead latches, a second plunger separately controls the dead latch pin which is normally maintained in the retracted state for optimum security. The dead latch plunger then releases the dead latch pin just before the first plunger pushes in the spring latch to release the door. When the door is reclosed, the UnLatch automatically re-secures it including reestablishing full dead latch security. There is no need to determine the specific brand of latching hardware, the UnLatch accepts all of them. Similarly, the same UnLatch model can be installed on all door types: steel, aluminum or wood. Problems of ending up with the wrong electric strike model for the door or latch type are virtually eliminated. With the Model UFP, UnLatch Filler Plate, the UnLatch may generally be used to replace a previously installed conventional electric strike. MECHANICAL INSTALLATION IN SECONDS Nearly all North American commercial door frames employ an ANSI 4-7/8 strike plate. The UnLatch is constructed around this standard plate, so mechanical installation generally consists of unscrewing the existing strike, and screwing the UnLatch into its place! Conventional electric strikes require a side cut into the door frame to accommodate the keeper. This not only requires considerable skilled labor time but weakens the door frame and degrades its appearance. The UnLatch can also be installed on frames with residential type ANSI 2-3/4 strikes. While this requires more work, it remains mechanically much simpler than the installation of a conventional electric strike, particularly on wood doors which are handled by simple chiseling. FULLY CONCEALED APPEARANCE The prominent door frame side cut in a conventional electric strike installation not only degrades the appearance of the door and frame, but it s immediately obvious to an intruder that the door is secured with an electric strike. In contrast, an UnLatch installation is physically indistinguishable from a standard mechanical lock set. This allows putting the door under electronic control without altering the architectural presentation in any way. This unprecedented benefit of the UnLatch also enhances security as intruders can t determine how the door is secured. FULL DEADLATCH SUPPORT Conventional electric strikes work poorly and inconsistently with dead latches. Locksmiths will often remove the dead latching function from door hardware so as to avoid operational problems with the electric strike. This seriously degrades security as the latch can be released from the outside through use of a flexible card for instance. In contrast, the UnLatch makes precise and active use of the dead latch pin and therefore maintains the dead latch function at all times. The security level in an UnLatch installation is therefore the highest of which the door hardware is capable. Adding electronic control to a door shouldn't reduce security and with the UnLatch, it doesn't. OPENS UNDER PRESSURE; PERFORMS UNDER PRESSURE The UnLatch reliably releases the door even when the person entering is already pulling on it. Standard electric strikes can t do this and it makes their use more awkward compared to the UnLatch, as the UNLATCH person entering has to "try" the door multiple times. Another powerful advantage of the UnLatch is its resistance to abuse. Conventional electric strikes need frequent replacement in abusive door environments as the pivoting keeper receives the abuse and fails, but the rugged design and construction of the UnLatch makes it highly resistant to abusecaused failure as the door latch, when rattled, impacts a solid element within the UnLatch. You can expect many years of trouble free operation when you select the UnLatch. LATCH STATUS AS A STANDARD Using an internal sensor, the UnLatch knows when the door latch is in the secure condition (the latch is seated within the UnLatch). This vital security information is reported out on SPDT dry contacts (three wire output). These contacts can be wired to the local alarm or access control system to significantly enhance building security. Any time a door fails to close and resecure, the alarm/access system is aware of it and a guard can be dispatched to check the door and correct the problem. 16 16 TOUCH SENSE EXIT DEVICES TSB/TSH SERIES Meets "No Tools or Knowledge" Code Requirements INTEGRATION WITH ACCESS CONTROL Many applications call for controlled entry from the outside of the door and free egress from the inside. Use of the Touch Bar or Touch Handle as the egress device makes this simple, safe and reliable. The units each have a double pole relay output. The NC contacts are wired to directly break power to the magnetic lock when the unit is touched. The NO contacts connect to the REX (request to exit) terminals in the access system controller so that no alarm event is created during free egress. Extra safety is achieved because in the event of a failure in the access control system, the Touch Bar or Touch Handle will still directly release the lock. 18 18 18 EXIT CONTROL/PUSH BUTTONS MODEL PB Model PB Back View Model PB "Top of the Line" The model PB features an industrial grade 1-1/ 2 mushroom button with 7 Amp DPST (NO/NC) contacts. It is waterproof (NEMA4) and includes VDC bi-color illumination. The button itself illuminates green from a multi-chip LED and there is also a super-bright red LED. Momentary or alternate (Model PBA) contacts may be chosen and the switch is UL Listed. The model PB is available on single gang plates only and is delivered with an indoor backbox. MODEL PB3 Smallest Size and the Most Options The PB3 is a compact (1 x 1-3/4 ) push button which is also short in length so it can be supplied on a narrow stile plate (Model PB3N) and installed directly on aluminum glass door narrow stile frames. The PB3 switch has 3 Amp, DPST, UL listed contacts and it can be converted to DPDT in the field. A backbox is supplied on single gang versions and VDC bi-color illumination is standard. An alternate action version (Model PB3A) is available, as well as a non-illuminated version (Model PB3E). A surface mount version is available (PB3ER), which is perfect for mounting under a desk. MODEL PB2 Large and Tough The model PB2 features a large (2 Diagonal) flush button, which is illuminated by a 25,000 hr. 12/24 VDC incandescent bulb. It includes a super-bright red LED and is available with momentary operation on a single gang plate only. It has SPDT 10 Amp contacts and is delivered with a backbox. More economical is the PB2E, which is a non-illuminated version (backbox not furnished). Passive Infrared Request-To-Exit Functionality For Magnetic Locks 19 XMS MOTION DETECTOR EEB3N EEB2 OVERVIEW Securitron s XM1 and XM1N are complete, UL listed, dual voltage integrated electronic egress packages designed to operate on a magnetically secured door while fully complying with US building codes (BNBC, SBC, UBC, NFPA) under the rules for Access Controlled Egress Doors. The XM-1 consists of Securitron s model XMS egress motion detector and the EEB2 integrated push button/timer. The EEB2 mounts in a single gang cut-out. The XM1N also includes the XMS motion detector but substitutes the EEB3N integrated push button/timer which mounts directly on a 1 3/4 narrow stile door frame. OPERATION The door is secured with a magnetic lock such as Securitron s Magnalock series or SAM shear lock. Typically, controlled entry from the outside is made possible via a device such as a card reader or digital entry keypad such as Securitron s DK-26. However, when the door in question is part of the building egress path, safe and approved free exit must be provided for individuals without requiring special tools or knowledge. With the XM1 package, the primary means of egress is the XMS egress motion detector. A person approaching the door is seen by the detector just before he reaches the door. The XMS automatically cuts power to the magnetic lock, allowing the individual to freely exit without even realizing that the door is secured! For additional safety (as required by codes) in case of any possible malfunction with the detector, an integrated push button timer is mounted next to the door. Momentarily pressing the button will release the door from a different circuit for 30 seconds (allowing individuals following to use the door as well). The EEB2 or EEB3N units are retriggerable. Each time the button is pressed, the door stays released for 30 seconds regardless of where it was in the release cycle at the time the button was pressed. THE XMS: DESIGNED FOR THE PURPOSE The XMS is unique among curtain type motion detectors because it has been specifically configured to reliably release magnetic locks as opposed to detecting an intrusion. A number of XMS product features deliver this benefit. Operation is fail safe. Should the detector lose power, the lock will automatically release. 19

20 20 MOTION DETECTOR EXIT PKG MAGLOCK ( ) Lock control switching is done by a heavy duty field effect transistor rather than by lower capacity relay contacts. The lock released state is maintained for a trailing four seconds after detection. This avoids the risk of relocking if the individual intending to exit pauses for a moment. A REX signaling relay is included which can be connected to the access control system to annunciate that someone is exiting and therefore suppress an alarm event. The detection pattern can be precisely adjusted to suit the door environment so that detection of persons going past the door can be avoided and security against unauthorized entry can be optimized. The unit will operate on any DC voltage between 12 and 28 v. One of the most important criteria in selecting a keyswitch is compatibility with the keying system used on mechanical cylinders throughout the facility. The MK series is normally delivered without cylinder but will accept any U.S. brand 1-1/4 or 1-1/8 mortise cylinder with any cam. The cylinder is simply screwed into the MK on site and may be keyed as necessary. The MK also offers an impressive choice of configurations which furnish unmatched power and flexibility. The basic unit is delivered on a brushed stainless steel single gang or narrow stile face plate. Both standard and tamper screws are furnished. It includes a spring-loaded momentary or push on/push off alternate 5 Amp SPDT switch (DPDT Optional). A red/green bicolor LED which operations on 12 or 24 VDC is also standard. DUAL SWITCH CAPABILITY With the standard unit, the switch is activated by turning the key in one direction and then turning it back for removal. The MK series, however, includes the capability of adding a second switch which actives when the key is turned in the opposite direction. You can achieve dual momentary, dual alternate or a momentary-alternate keyswitch. This permits many powerful applications. For instance, the same keyswitch could momentarily release a door for authorized use and activate an alarm point for the night. The switches are individually mounted so the unit can be easily changed or upgraded in the field. The all-steel construction of the switch elements means that long operating life is gained along with the MK s outstanding flexibility. 24 24 24 DIGITAL ENTRY SYSTEMS DK-26SS KEYPAD SHOWN AT ACTUAL SIZE DK-26: HIGHER SECURITY, NARROW DESIGN AND OUTDOOR USE The DK-26 features a fully waterproof design that can mount directly on a narrow stile door frame. For higher security, the DK-26 is delivered in two parts. The keypad surface mounts via hidden screws and the CPU board mounts with steel enclosure inside the protected area (16 ft. cable furnished). No matter what a vandal may do to the keypad itself (including severing the cable), the door will not open. The keypad is designed for long life under demanding use. It is constructed from cast stainless steel with the switch elements protected under tough EPDM rubber. The DK-26 operates a 5 Amp DPDT relay to switch any type of fail-safe or fail-secure electric lock (or strike). Release time is programmable from 1-99 seconds. A beeper and three LED s provide feedback during operation and programming. Power for the DK-26 is 12 to 24 volts, AC or DC. Typically the same power source is used to operate the lock which makes planning the installation simplicity itself. You can even employ an inexpensive AC transformer to operate a DC lock, as the DK-26 will convert AC to DC and supply it to the lock. ADVANCED MULTIPLE CODE STRUCTURE The DK-26 supports a 5-7 digit Program code which is set initially from a button on the CPU board. Subsequent entry of this code allows programming up to 59 user codes (2-7 digits). With multiple user codes, individuals or groups can be given their own code. When it s necessary to change a code because an individual leaves, the other employees do not have to learn a new code. Codes may be individually deleted and replaced. Finally, a hard code can be set from the CPU board only. The hard code is employed for lower security single code operation or for special uses such as a masterkey management code, a duress MAGLOCK ( ) code or a day/night changeable code. All codes are stored in nonvolatile memory so they are retained in a power failure. FEATURES TO SUIT YOUR NEEDS When you order the DK-26, your only choice is finish: Satin Stainless or Black. Everything else is standard, so there s no need to puzzle out the exact version to suit each application. When you need a particular function, it s already there. You can connect any normally open switch to the CPU board s REX input to trigger the timed relay for either an exit switch or remote release button. You can convert the timed relay to alternate action (toggle mode) so that when the code is entered, the relay energizes and deenergizes only when a valid code is entered a second time. For superior security, the DK-26 incorporates an internal alarm function. When 16 wrong digits are pressed, the beeper sounds for 30 seconds and the keypad is locked out. The DK-26 also includes an SPDT programmable relay whose function is set by inputting a special two digit command. It is factory set as an actual doorbell. (When the Bell key is pressed, it will energize.) Alternate uses include: Sending a duress signal when the Hard code instead of a User code is entered; an alarm signal when 16 wrong digits are pressed; a door prop alarm signal if the door doesn t reclose within a set time; or a nightlight function where the relay operates a lamp (not furnished) when any key is touched. Input terminals allow you to selectively disable the Hard code or all User codes to support different day/night access when an external timer is added. You can purchase a second pad and operate two pads with one CPU board for single-door digital entry and exit. Finally, an optional spy shield helps prevent someone viewing the code being entered. Then the DK series expansion board may be the ideal upgrade to your system. The optional expansion board provides another 60 user codes (for a total of 119 user codes plus the programming code and a hard code); serial printer output for a report for a report on who did what and when, an additional programmable relay to increase the versatility of the system, plus an on-board real time clock and calendar. For multiple door installations, the addition of a buffer box allows multiple expansion boards to report to a single printer. While primarily intended for indoor operation, an optional rain cover allows reliable use for exterior areas not exposed to direct rain. The pad itself is a U.S. made, high-volume unit with engraved, paint-filled keys. POWER AND FLEXIBILITY The DK-11 accepts a program code and 4 user codes from 2 to 7 digits so that different user groups can have their own code. Changing any user code is easily done by entering the program code (5 to 7 digits) first. Lock release time is also programmed from the keypad from 1-99 seconds. Selectable toggle mode energizes the relay when a valid code is entered and deenergizes it when a code is entered again. The DK-11 also has a REX (request to exit) input. This allows an external remote switch to trigger the unit just as if a code was entered. All codes are stored in non-volatile memory so that they are retained in a power failure. 27 An ASSA ABLOY Group company POWER TRANSFER DEVICES POWER TRANSFER DEVICES 27 TSB-C Armored Door Cord McKinney Electric Hinge OVERVIEW ELECTRIC HINGES EPTL by Abloy OVERVIEW The installation of electric mortise locks which mount in the door or electrified exit devices (including Securitron s model TSB Touch Sense Bar) require a method for electrical power to be routed from the door into the door frame. To reliably accomplish this, Securitron offers three different product families with varying advantages and with different versions within each family for individual requirements. The electric hinge transfers power with the highest level of concealment. This aids security as a vandal won t easily be able to access the wires and also produces the most esthetically pleasing installation. Securitron offers two different electric hinge configurations which suit most North American hollow metal or wood doors: 4.5 x 4 inches (model EH-40) and 4.5 x 4.5 inches (model EH-45). These units are manufactured by McKinney Hinge, Securitron s sister company, entirely in the US and to the highest possible quality standards. The material is stainless steel with a brushed finish. Each hinge carries five color coded conductors with 28 gauge wire which emerge from each side of the hinge in flying lead fashion. The thinness of the wires is mandated by the limited physical space within the hinges and this does create a limit of 500 ma in current carrying capability. This current level is sufficient for signaling applications to alarm systems and can comfortably operate any of Securitron s Magnalocks (in an application where a switched exit device is releasing the Magnalock from the inside) but will not operate For State of the Art Smart Door Control! EPT by Abloy many electric locks made by others. Be sure you check the amount of current that your circuit will draw before selecting an electric hinge. Choosing between the two models is a matter of determining which hinge size is already present in the door (by measuring). It is not practical to try to install an electric hinge in a space occupied by a different size hinge. Note also that aluminum (storefront) type doors do not employ conventional butt hinges at all, but open on pivots. Securitron s other power transfer devices are appropriate for such doors. ELECTRIC POWER TRANSFER This unique, patented device is manufactured by Abloy, Securitron s sister company. It installs in the door and frame edges, so that its presence is concealed when the door is closed, thus maintaining good security and esthetic appeal. Two models are available: the EPT and EPTL. The EPT is suitable for most doors; the EPTL is required when the gap between the door and frame edges is large (see drawings at right). When compared to the electric hinge, the EPT series is more economical to purchase, but does require more labor for installation (a long slot must be routed in the door edge). A particular advantage of the EPT is that it accepts a thick cable and protects it within a flexible steel shield. The interior diameter of the shield is a generous 5/16 (8 mm) which will support interior wire cables up to.25 (6 mm) thick. This means that the EPT is suitable for 27

The EPT is also a near universal device as it will work on any sort of door hung with butt hinges, continuous hinge or pivots. It will not function on a center pivot door as the gap between the door and frame edges becomes too great when the door opens. DOOR CORD The simplest and most economical solution for power transfer is Securitron s surface mounted door cord. This unit is furnished with Securitron s Touch Sense Bar but may also be purchased separately (part #TSB-C). The cord consists of an 18 (46 cm) length of armored stainless steel cable together with plastic end pieces. 3/8 (9.5 mm) holes are drilled in the face of the door and frame to admit the cord and the end pieces are screwed down over the holes to create a neat, finished appearance. The door cord comes furnished with end piece sets in two colors: light gray and black. This allows selection of end piece color so as to blend into the door/frame color as much as possible. The ample 18 cord length allows use on any type of door, including center pivot doors and doors that open well past The TSB-C cable has an interior diameter of.25 (6 mm) which will support interior wire cables up to.2 (5 mm) thick. This permits employing thick enough wiring for most high current applications. Compared to the Electric Hinge and Electric Power Transfer, however, the door cord is more vulnerable to vandalism and is visible on the door. Plus, in the event of a DC short, the supply s regulator will go into thermal cut-off, switching off the output. The power supply enclosure is sized large enough to include at least two optional four amphour batteries and the unit can charge up to a 20 AH pack (batteries mounted externally). BPS SERIES WITH CCS CONTROL MODULE For larger applications and installations where multiple devices are being powered, Securitron offers the higher-amperage BPS Power Supply Series with integral CCS-4 or CCS-8 Power Control Module. The CCS board provides a fused line voltage input and four or eight DC outputs on separate UL Class 2 Listed current limited automatic circuit breakers. Each circuit can be individually turned on and off via a slide switch and the powered status of each is shown by an LED. There is no need for extra AC wiring of additional dedicated supplies in a multiple zone device installation and in the event of a DC short, the problem is confined to the zone in difficulty. The BPS continues to power all other stations, uninterrupted by the faulty component. An LED indicator light on the front cover illuminates when the power supply module is in operation and the unit will charge up to 20 AH battery packs (for larger packs, consult the factory). ADDING ADDITIONAL CLASS 2 OUTPUTS AND FIRE ALARM INTERFACE While BPS series supplies are delivered with four or eight outputs depending on the model, the CCB-8 slave board may be optionally ordered to add eight additional Class 2 outputs. The more boards you add, the more outputs become available. Also, for added safety, the CCS-8 module has emergency release terminals. These can be broken by an external switch opening such as a relay controlled by the fire alarm system. This will automatically release all the devices being driven by the supply. BPS SERIES SPECIFICATIONS THE POWER SUPPLY MONITOR For critical applications, Securitron offers the remarkable Power Supply Monitor as an accessory for its larger DC supplies. Available in 12 or 24 volt versions, the PSM can operate with all BPS series supplies with capacities of 2 Amps or more. The Power Supply Monitor functions as an alarm system for the supply as it monitors all key functions and reports any trouble. The output voltage is continuously read to insure that it remains within tight limits which are necessary for proper float charging of the battery pack. A high or low variance is separately signaled by audio/visual latching alarms at the PSM enclosure and simultaneous dry contact switching for remote notification. The PSM also checks the battery pack by taking it off charge three times a day and subjecting it to an extended load test. This provides vital warning that the load will continue to operate for only the standby duration of the pack. The batteries will switch in not only from an obvious facility power failure, but from a local AC breaker trip or a failure of the DC output of the supply. The PSM report always keeps your system working supplies 10 Amps of 24 VAC power. The BACS series employs the same multiple zone control concept as the BPS series as it includes nearly identical control boards (part number CCS-8A), which provide eight automatically breakered outputs with individual control switches and LED s. As with the BPS series, additional slave boards may be ordered to add eight extra zones (part number CCB-8A). TIMEMATE MODEL TM9 The TimeMate, Model TM9 is an ultra-miniature timer that functions to extend momentary switch closures (N/O) up to 36 seconds. It is commonly used in outlet boxes with keyswitches or push button controls solving the problem of where to put the timer. The TimeMate either fits in the box or can be mounted on the exterior with supplied double stick tape. When the switch is operated, the TimeMate s 3 Amp SPDT relay energizes for 2 to 36 seconds after which it resets. The time setting is precisely selected by a bank of dipswitches rather than by a pot. Common applications include releasing electric locks and shunting alarm points. The TimeMate operates on 12 VDC, 24 VDC or 24 VAC power. Actual size: 3/4" x 1" x 2" EXIT DELAY TIMERS XDT-12 & XDT-24 This microprocessor timer allows full compliance with NFPA 101, UBC, BOCA, SBC and Canadian building codes for delayed exit. In general, delayed exit function is as follows: When an initiate switch in an exit bar or push button closes, an optional nuisance delay up to 3 seconds operates, during which the board signals the alarm. If the initiate switch is released before the nuisance delay expires, nothing further happens. If not, the board goes into irrevocable release delay. The fail safe lock releases at the end of a 15 or 30 second release delay period. It then must be relocked from an external NC switch. The XDT also has powerful selectable modes which allow it to meet specific and detailed differences in each code. It also integrates with access control by providing non-alarmed entry delay, lock status monitoring and the ability to set door operation into any of four different modes from an external switch or time clock. In certain high security installations, testing each switch is a procedural mandate. With Securitron s remote test option, this is done electronically from a central point rather than by opening each door. The MSS uses a unique two step test on a three-wire circuit. Voltage is sent first to input #1 of all switches. If all switches go into alarm, the test is passed. Next, power is sent to input #2 and again, all switches must go into alarm. If a switch fails to alarm on both tests, it is completely non-functional probably due to tampering. A subtler defect is if a switch fails to go into alarm on one of the two tests. They install easily, are concealed behind existing hardware, and require no jamb or strikeplate modification. Three models in two sizes accept all North American latches or bolts. The innovative patented design automatically copes with variations between different brands of latching hardware without requiring installer adjustments. The LMS-1 includes a single SPDT switch and fits any standard 2 3/4" ANSI cut-out. The LML-1 also has a single SPDT switch and fits any standard 4 7/8" ANSI cut-out. Securitron's Latch Monitor series eliminates this weakness with a simple, reliable and universal design. Retail stores provide a particularly pertinent example of the latch monitor's value. Larger shops will have numerous aluminum frame glass (storefront) doors leading outside. At closing time it's all too easy for a clerk to forget to lock down one of these doors prior to arming the alarm system and leaving. This condition invites quick entry and theft, or a false alarm event when wind pushes the door partially open. Use of the LMD-1 insures that all doors are locked, or the system will not arm. A secondary use of the latch monitor is to initiate delayed exit when an interior latch is withdrawn on a door equipped with a Magnalock and Securitron's model XDT logic timer. FIGHT FALSE ALARMS! False alarms are not only embarassing to a system owner, but are also costly when police departments levy false alarm fines aimed at reducing the waste of law enforcement resources. An important cause of false alarm occurs when an armed system reports a nearly closed but unlatched or unbolted door as secure. The door subsequently swings open from the wind or is moved by an individual without criminal intent, and police are erroneously dispatched. Using a Latch Monitor completely eliminates this kind of problem. And for many installations, Latch Monitors are inexpensive enough to be employed in all the doors or alternately they can be selected for those critical openings most subject to this type of false alarm event. 39

The relatively long arm provides ample margin for error in mounting position. EASY INSTALLATION For Wooden Door Frames: Simply remove the strikeplate chisel for increased depth if necessary make electrical connections, insert unit and replace the strikeplate. 41 An ASSA ABLOY Group company LOCK CONTROL PANELS UL Listed Central Control and Monitoring for Any Electric Lock LOCK CONTROL PANELS 41 FLUSH MOUNT WALL MOUNT RACK MOUNT DESK MOUNT OVERVIEW The LCP Series panel is designed to operate any DC electric lock or strike that operates on 12 or 24 volts (fail safe or fail secure.) Other electric locks can be accommodated by adding relays. The panel is constructed of control zones supplied in multiples of four. A single multi-color monitoring LED per zone displays four possible conditions of the lock: Green shows that the zone is secure and this condition may be driven from a door switch, lock status switch or the power status of the lock. "Off" shows that the lock has been legally released from either the panel control switch or from a remote switch at the door. In this condition, the toggle switch itself illuminates yellow. Red is the alarm condition showing that a lock which should be secure is not reporting secure. This condition is latching and is reset from a momentary switch once the zone has been resecured. A Sonalert accompanies the red violation condition. Orange shows that the zone has been resecured and is ready for alarm reset. After reset, the indicator turns green again. PANEL CONFIGURATIONS The LCP is delivered standard in a slope front desk mount console. A maximum of 24 zones can be installed on the largest console. If more zones are needed, multiple consoles are supplied. Optionally, the panel can be supplied in a NEMA 1 hinged wall mount enclosure with key lock, in a flush plate with knockout equipped back box, or in a 19 rack mount face plate. The size of the enclosure or plate depends on the number of zones ordered. EASY INSTALLATION Three to six wires run from the panel to each door depending on the complexity of the equipment used at the door. All wires terminate to identified screw terminals in the panel. A comprehensive manual is supplied with the product which shows hookup drawings for the full range of possible door control functions. No guesswork or circuit design is required from the installer. DOOR MONITORING The LCP also finds use as a door monitoring panel when electric locks are not installed. The control switch in this use arms or disarms the monitored zone. With the switch on (armed), the indicator will show green when the door is closed and will show a latching red condition accompanied by the Sonalert when the door is opened. With the switch off (disarmed), the indicator will be off regardless of door position. On a custom basis, the LCP panel can be supplied with indicator lights only (no control switches.) 41

The LED illuminates from an external closure or voltage input and at the same time, a pulsing Sonalert sounds. The most common use for this option is to annunciate the start of exit delay for a fail safe lock in the NFPA 101 delayed exit installation. Other conditions, depending on the specific job, can also use this capability. SWITCH BYPASS KEYSWITCH* (OPTION KB1 OR KB2 ) The bypass keyswitch, when turned off, secures all zones and shunts out the control switches and emergency release button (if one has been supplied) so that the panel may be left unattended for a time. This option yields a Mortise cylinder type keyswitch with cylinder supplied. The suffix 1 is wired for fail safe locks. The suffix 2 is wired for fail secure locks. MOMENTARY CONTROL SWITCHES (OPTION MOM ) This option changes the lock control toggle switches from alternate (standard) to spring loaded momentary. It is used if the installation permits only momentary release of a lock from the panel. (Momentary switches are not illuminated.) Without exit delay protection, a thief can move stolen goods through a nearby exit door, escaping undetected before countermeasures are taken. But exit delay forces a thief to wait by the door, enduring a 15 or 30 second alarm blast, sufficient time for his apprehension. Hospitals and nursing homes responsible for patient safety employ exit delay in denying egress to individuals under their supervision. Attempts at unauthorized exit by those suffering Alzheimer s, psychosis or disorientation are easily checked by an exit delay period, canceling significant liability threat from patient endangerment. 44 44 EXIT DELAY SYSTEMS THE INITIATION DEVICE: KEY TO SYSTEM ACTIVATION Securitron offers a range of devices to initiate exit delay. To select one that s appropriate, first determine if your system will include electronic access control. MXD: INNOVATIVE DOOR MOVEMENT EXIT DELAY MAGLOCK ( ) SB-MXD: COMPACT DOOR MOVEMENT EXIT DELAY For applications where threat of tampering is a minor concern, we suggest the SB-MXD, combining our unique spring-loaded sex bolt with a separately mounted, concealed door position switch for system initiation. The inconspicuous SB- MXD also consumes less door frame space. LM SERIES LATCH MONITOR SB-MXD s door position switch & spring-loaded sex bolt Fully installed MXD (Closer not included) When access control is not required, we recommend our patented MXD door movement exit delay package. The MXD s attractive stainless steel housing conceals proximity sensing switches together with any standard Magnalock (sold separately). Initiation occurs when the door is pushed roughly an inch permitted by MXD s exclusive spring-loaded sex bolt but the door still remains locked. MXD installation requires no alteration or replacement of existing fire rated or non-fire rated latching hardware. Best of all, false triggering is eliminated by the ample 1 inch door movement. And fully sealed construction makes the MXD virtually tamper proof! LMD series latch monitor MXD s rugged stainless steel construction is completely weatherproof Where mortise hardware is present, wiring to the strike is accessible and tampering is a minor concern, we offer the LM series latch monitor for initiation. The latch monitor mounts behind the strike in the jamb and initiates delay by detecting latch withdrawal during an exit attempt. THE AMAZING TOUCH SENSE BAR Model TSB-3 series 44 MXD s tamper proof housing & concealed proximity switching MXD s unique spring-loaded sex bolt allows 1 movement When an application includes electronic access control on any magnetically locked, non-fire rated door where latching is not required by code, we recommend Securitron s Touch Sense Bar, model TSB-3. The TSB-3 operates electronically by detecting touch even through gloves and includes a redundant, manual backup button switch for added safety. The TSB-3 features a sleek, clear or black aluminum finish, and the reliability of no moving parts. For fire rated doors, we employ switch equipped panic bars with appropriate entry trim. Mortise, vertical rod or rim latching is available, as are a variety of finishes.

45 An ASSA ABLOY Group company EXIT DELAY LOGIC TIMERS XDT-12, XDT-24 and FA-XDT Model XDT series showing BA enclosure The brains of Securitron exit delay systems are dependable XDT logic timers, available in 12 or 24 volt versions. These microprocessorbased timers have selectable operating modes to comply with any exit delay building code rules mandated by NFPA, UBC, BOCA, SBC or the National Building Code of Canada. Exit delay operation is defined as an attempt to open a door by pushing the exit hardware, triggering a local alarm and nuisance delay of 0, 1, 2, or 3 seconds. If the exit attempt is terminated before the nuisance delay expires, the alarm stops and event concludes. If the attempt persists beyond the nuisance delay period, an irrevocable release delay period of 15 or 30 seconds will begin, after which the door will release, and remain released until reset by an external switch. If the fire alarm activates, all doors release immediately. Code stipulations vary, but XDT logic timers meet all requirements, including the BOCA 30 second relock function. Nuisance delay and release times are digitally set on XDT models via precise dip switches, far superior to analog pots. XDT boards are supplied alone or enclosure mounted with Sonalerts. The BA-XDT is a surface mount box. The FA-XDT is a flush mount plate, and the FAK-XDT adds a keyswitch on the plate. TWELVE DURABLE BPS POWER SUPPLY MODELS Power exit delay systems with solid BPS series power supplies, renowned for lasting performance. All facility doors should operate from a single power supply located near the fire alarm system, to meet the code requirement that power is cut to all doors during a fire alarm event. Model BPS series BPS power supplies are available in 12 or 24 volts DC, with capacities QUALITY RESET KEYSWITCHES EXIT DELAY SYSTEMS of 1 15 amps at 12 volts, or 1 10 amps at 24 volts. All models are compatible with battery backup packs for seamless, automatic operation during power interruption, where codes allow. Model MK Series Most codes require a reset or relock keyswitch at the door. Securitron s sturdy MK keyswitch provides smooth quickswitching action, and is compatible with existing facility keying. Furnished without a cylinder, the MK will accept any 1-1/4" or 1-1/ 8" mortise cylinder. Optionally, the MK can include a second switch to perform authorized, nonalarmed exit by a simple key turn in the opposite direction, which releases the door for 5 seconds. The MK is supplied on a single gang or narrow stile plate and includes a bi-color LED. At the user s option, a normally closed door switch can be used for reset. The use of a door switch can meet a specific code requirement or achieve automatic relocking when the door is used. LOCK CONTROL PANELS FOR REMOTE MONITORING Model LCP Series Securitron LCP lock control panels provide optimum central door control and monitoring of our exit delay systems, are UL listed as system components, and can be ordered with any number of zones configured in multiples of 4. Choose from an executive desk panel with walnut sides; or functional wall, flush or rack mounted enclosures. If an application doesn t require a lock control panel, remote exit delay monitoring can still be accomplished by conventional alarm panels through XDT logic timer signaling via dry contacts. Because Lock Control Panels are specially ordered and custom manufactured, MagnaCare coverage cannot apply. But LCPs are covered by a standard 2 year warranty on electronics. ALARM & BYPASS FUNCTIONS Exit delay systems provide comprehensive monitoring of door conditions. Two separate SPDT relays on the XDT board indicate system status at all times. A local alarm relay pulses during the nuisance delay, and then operates continually through the release delay. When a door releases at the end of the release delay period, this relay resets automatically. A remote alarm relay operates from nuisance delay termination 45 45

46 46 EXIT DELAY SYSTEMS MAGLOCK ( ) until the door is relocked. This second relay also features power sensing to detect a failed XDT board, or reduction of input voltage below 70% of nominal. A Senstat Magnalock can report to the XDT logic timer s lock status input and operate the remote alarm relay whenever the Magnalock is not registering secure. A 5 second delay starts prior to signaling, so a door authorized for release is allowed to swing shut. The lock status input can also connect to an independent door switch. Integration with access control is simplified by the XDT s bypass input capability. When an external keyswitch, digital keypad or card reader closes on this input, the door is released 5 seconds for authorized entry or exit without alarm. MULTI-MODE OPERATION Many applications require that an exit delay is functional only during specific parts of the day, or week. The XDT logic timer provides connections for a time clock or manual switch to alter the exit control operation of a door. Alternative control functions from standard exit delay are: Door fully released Door secured from the exterior but immediate, non-alarmed egress available from the interior Door locked down no entry or exit Magnalock won t release at the end of the release delay period, but remains energized until the exit device is pressed for immediate exit a variation providing enhanced exterior security, while meeting egress safety code requirements. 52 MagnaCare tm Limited Lifetime Warranty SECURITRON MAGNALOCK CORPORATION warrants that it will replace at customer s request, at any time for any reason, products manufactured and branded by SECURITRON. SECURITRON will use its best efforts to ship a replacement product by next day air freight at no cost to the customer within 24 hours of SECURITRON s receipt of the product from customer. If the customer has an account with SECURITRON or a valid credit card, the customer may order an advance replacement product, whereby SECURITRON will charge the customer s account for the price of the product plus next day air freight, and will credit back to the customer the full amount of the charge, including outbound freight, upon SECURITRON s receipt of the original product from the customer.securitron s sole and exclusive liability, and customer s sole remedy, is limited to the replacement of the SECURITRON product when delivered to SECURITRON s facility (freight and insurance charges prepaid by customer). The replacement, at SECURITRON s sole option, may be the identical item or a newer unit which serves as a functional replacement.
