Figure 1: New seat and ladder locations (left-rear view) STEP - 1 Reposition left side seat and ladder (a) Bolt ALMACO provided mount to the center of the platform frame as shown in figure-1. Transfer punch and drill 13/32 diameter holes into frame. (b) Move left seat to ALMACO provided mount. (c) Move the ladder to the left mount as shown in Figure 1. INSTALLATION Page 3 of 16

5 (a) (b) (e) Vertical pipe Figure 2: Existing gate valve (left view) STEP - 2 Disconnect existing gate valves (a) Disconnect pneumatic hoses (DO NOT cut hoses - ALMACO splitters will use same quick connections). (b) Disconnect flexible seed drop tubes (DO NOT cut tubes). (c) Dismount or disconnect any other components attached to gate valves or in the way of rotating gate valves 90 toward ends of planter. STEP - 3 Rotate and safety-pin gate valves (a) Loosen gate valve pipe clamps from vertical pipe. Lower and rotate gate valves 90 from original positions, towards the ends of the planter. Retighten pipe clamps. (b) Drill 9/32 diameter hole through pipe and insert 1/4 -bolt with locknut as a safety-pin. This will keep gate valve from accidentally sliding off vertical pipe. Vertical mounting pipe is roughly 7-1/2 in front of main pipe hanger. Cut off excess horizontal pipe if needed. (b) Use ALMACO provide mounting bracket to remount Big John above Main control box. 10 Relocated seed packet holders ALMACO provided 18 -pipes (centered on planter) Figure 7: Relocated seed packet holders (rear view) STEP - 7 Relocate seed packet holders Use existing pipe clamps to relocate and remount both left and right seed packet holders to ALMACO provided 18 -pipes (see step-6). L-shaped pipes should be located 44 apart and centered on planter (see figure 9 on next page). (b) Center and attach pipe clamp to 4-way Splitter mount. (c) Slide pipe clamp for 4-way Splitter Mount up onto vertical section of L-shaped pipe and tighten clamp to pipe. (d) Set pipe clamp as high as possible and will still allow T-handle to turn. This is necessary for good seed flow through seed drop tubes. (e) Insert ALMACO provided safety-pins into bottom of L-shaped pipe after mounting pipe clamp, as shown in figure 8. (Safety-pins will keep 4-way Splitters from completely falling off L-shaped pipes if a pipe clamp should happen to come loose.) Page 10 of 16 INSTALLATION

L-shaped pipes and 4-way splitters are 44 apart (center-to-center). Both components are centered on planter. INSTALLATION Page 11 of 16

(b) Connect green hose into connector marked GREEN. (c) Route hoses appropriately. Page 12 of 16 INSTALLATION

14 Clear flexible tube connector Clear flexible tube connector End of tubes with beveled inside diameter Figure 11: ALMACO PVC seed drop tubes (rear view) STEP - 11 Attach ALMACO PVC seed drop tubes to ALMACO 4-way Splitters (a) Cut PVC tubes to desired length (determined by tube location) as shown in figure 11 (planter is in lowered or planting position). DO NOT CUT OFF PVC TUBE END WITH BEVELED INSIDE DIAMETER! Lower end of tube should reach opening in platform. (b) Connect PVC seed drop tubes to 4-way Splitter drop tubes with clear flexible tube connectors (provided by ALMACO). Make sure the end of the tube with the beveled inside diameter is connected here (or used as the upper end of the tube). INSTALLATION Page 13 of 16

15 Flexible tubing should telescope in and out of metering unit funnel. ALMACO PVC seed drop tubes Slide excess flexible tubing over PVC tubes. Use ALMACO provided plastic pads between clamp and flexible tubing. (a) - minimum of 2-1/2 when planter is in raised position Clamp flexible tubing to lower end of PVC tube. STEP - 12 Connect flexible seed drop tubes to ALMACO PVC seed drop tubes (a) Insert flexible tubing into metering unit funnel. When planter is in raised position and row unit is in its lowest position, metering unit funnel should still overlap flexible tubing by a minimum of 2-1/2. (b) Slide excess flexible tubing over PVC tubes and clamp flexible tubing to bottom of PVC tubes. Use two ALMACO provided plastic pads between clamp and flexible tubing. Leave enough flexible tubing below PVC tube to keep it engaged with metering unit funnel when planter is in raised and lowered positions. NOTE: Too much flexible tubing between PVC tube and metering unit funnel can hinder seed flow or cause seed hang-up. Page 14 of 16 INSTALLATION
