1 Fitting Instructions - NX Pajero (09/2014+) Estimated Fitting time: 3 hrs. This SmartBar is also compatible with earlier Pajero models (01/2007+) with headlight washers FI-162 Revision: A Model No: SA162AA162 Congratulations on your purchase of a SmartBar. WARNING: Do not attach VFPS to the vehicle using anchorages not intended for this purpose (e.g. engine mounting bolts). Do not use this product for any vehicle make or model, other than those specifi ed by the VFPS manufacturer. Do not remove the plaque or label from the VFPS (SmartBar). Do not modify the structure of the VFPS in any way. NOTE: Left and right hand sides of the vehicle and SmartBar throughout this instruction are from the view of being in the driver s seat looking forward. Please take the time to read the instructions thoroughly before proceeding with fi tting the SmartBar. Ensure all components, as listed in the bill of materials on the back page, are received prior to commencing the fi tment. Please retain all hardware until fi t-up is complete. All wiring should be completed by a qualifi ed auto electrician. SmartBar bears no responsibility for any electrical failure caused by the incorrect fi tment of the lamps. Ensure these fi tting instructions are passed onto the vehicle owner and/or operator.! AUSTRALIAN OWNED PEDESTRIAN FRIENDLY CAUTION A torque specification of 28Nm is required for the M10 bolts into the SmartBar brass nutserts. THESE MUST NOT BE OVER TIGHTENED! 2 Step 1 Marking out the bumper for trimming. 1.1 Measure down 110mm from the flare/bumper/body junction point and mark with a piece of tape and marker. Place at least 5 strips(to protect the bumper during trimming) of 2 masking tape horizontally over the mark so that it is midway across the tapes width and covers from the fl are to the corner of the headlight. Note: if 2 tape is not available use several strips of thinner tape to build up the width. 1.2 Use scissors to cut the tape following the contour of the fl are where it meets the bumper, being sure not to mark the bumper. Press the tape back down onto the bumper and remark the 110mm mark. 1.3 Using a measuring tape, ruler or piece of timber, measure the distance of the mark from the ground and make marks every few cm s(using the ground as a guide) so that a horizontal line can be drawn from the wheel arch to the light for initial trimming. The bumper will be trimmed later Flare / Bumper / Body Junction 50MM Masking Tape 110MM Mark trim line parallel to ground. Step 2 Removing the Grille and Bumper. 2.1 Lift the bonnet and remove the 7 push plugs in the top of the grille Note: the plugs remove more easily with the button lifted about 5mm rather than further out. 2.2 Lift the grille vertically to unclip the bottom plugs and remove the grille Note: if the plugs dislodge from the bottom of the grill remove them from the mounts and place them back in the holes on the grille. 2.3 Remove the 6 plugs from the top of the bumper skin. 2.4 Remove the front mounting bolts(12mm head) from the skid pan and loosen the rear two bolts. Slide the pan forward and off. 2.5 Remove the 2 bolts(10mm head) and 2 push clips from the lower bumper.(previously hidden by the pan.) 2.6 Remove the number plate and the 2 plugs behind that retain the centre of the bumper moulding Grille Push Plugs Push Plugs Skid pan Bumper skin Pan Mount Bolts 2.7 Remove the 3 plastic screw plugs and 1 hex screw (10mm head) from the wheel arch and remove the plugs from the wheel arch liner in the area infront of the wheel. Repeat on the other side. 2.8 Remove the 2 mudfl aps by removing the 2xM6 bolts (10mm head) per side. 2.9 Gently pull the fl ares away from the bumper until the 3 bumper plugs and 1 body plug are dislodged.(note: if the plugs stay in the body or bumper, gently remove them with pliers and place them back into the fl are clip mounts) 2.10 Remove the hex screws(phillips head) joining each of the bumper wing tips to the body With the fl ares clear of the bumper push out from the inside of the bumper wing tip to unclip the wings and then slide the bumper forward and off of the vehicle. Be sure to disconnect the light wiring at the plug. Disconnect the hose work from the back of the bumper so it remains connected to the vehicle.

3 Step Remove the centre metal bumper support by removing the 2xM6(10MM head) bolts from each headlight mount and the 2xM6 bolts from the centre of the support. Unclip the horn and zip tie the wiring to the chassis. Metal bumper support Headlight mount 3.2 Remove the metal mud fl ap mounts by removing the 2xM6 screws(10mm head) per side. Mark a line down 20mm from a line joining the centres of the top plug holes. Cut the mud fl ap and round the corners with a fi le. Coat the cut edge with anti-rust paint. Re-fi t the mud fl ap mount. Centreline Cut line Metal mud flap mount 20MM 3.3 Mark a line using a marker 5mm down from the top of the chassis fl ange.(note: the position of the Chassis Can fl ange may vary as this is welded to the chassis fl ange) MM Chassis flange Chassis rail Mark line Crash Can 3.4 Unplug the connectors in the wheel arches on the side of the chassis rail by gently levering the tag (on the side nearest the front of the vehicle) away from the body of the plug while pulling the body towards the rear of the vehicle. 3.4 Lever here Plug mount 3.5 On the right hand side of the chassis bend the wiring tab up as shown. This is to create clearance for the bracket bolt in the next step. Reattach the wiring once bent. 3.5 RHS Side only Page 3 of 8

4 Step 4 Bracket Fittment 4.1 Sit the side brackets 115-SL & SR in position over the crash cans and fi t beam 115-BM and hardware shown fi nger tight only. Adjust the fi t until the top of the side bracket fl anges(115- SL & SR) line up with the marked line on the chassis can fl ange. 4.1 Slide the top fasteners to the top of the slot and tighten with a spanner just enough to support the chassis bracket in position. Repeat on the bottom fasteners but this time sliding to the bottom of the slots. Fully tighten the M10 hardware to 44Nm when happy with the fi t. 115-BM M10 nut M10x30 bolt 115-S4 M10x30 bolt M10 plain washer M10 nut 115-SL M10 spring washer 4.2 Attach pinch weld to the top of the 162-M1 mesh from the kit. Fit the mesh to the back of the bar, align as shown x1 Gold Screws x8 Align edge of mesh with edge of the cut out in the bar Pinch weld on top 162-M1 NOTE: If the day time running light (DRL) has been purchased remove the light infi lls and attach them at this point, following the DRL kit instruction. Align base of mesh with underside of the bar ledge 4.3 Attach the head light washer nozzle from the head light washer kit to the 162-FSL & 1162-FSR as shown. Connect the HLW hose work from the kit to the vehicle hose work as per the instructions in the washer kit. 5 Step 5 SmartBar Fittment 5.1 Lift the SmartBar into position onto the mounting brackets and mark the top of the bar (with a tape and marker) in line with the off-centre grille plug. Fit the 115-G1 bracket as shown so that the top face of the bar is fl ush with the top face of the bracket and the centre of the slot is in line with the marked line on the bar. The indicators (and driving lights if optioned) should be connected at this stage by a qualifi ed auto electrician. Note: SmartBar bear no responsibility for any electrical failure caused by the incorrect fi ttment of these lights. Upon completion of wiring, lamps should be focused to suit the owners requirements and mounting bolts tightened. 5.2 Lift the SmartBar into position onto the mounting brackets feed the head light washer hosework through the holes in the top of the bar. Finger tighten the hardware as shown. Fit the 115-S5 bracket between the bar and the front mounting holes of the skid pan using the hardware as shown. Re-fi t the skid pan with the original hardware and tighten. Adjust the bar until happy with the fi t and then fully tighten the M10 hardware to 28Nm. Note: measure the distance of the wing tips from the body to ensure the bar is centralised. 5.3 Cut through the bumper about 50mm at the position of the notch near the marked line. Make sure the cut is vertical and perpendicular to the backline of the bumper. A hacksaw will be required as there is an integrated metal support. Cut through the bumper at the dotted line using a hacksaw. This is an initial trim to allow the trimmed part to be fi tted and a fi nal trim line marked. Note: If the trimmed part will not fi t gradually trim material from the bottom where it is fouling until it fi ts into place. SmartBar Fitting Instructions - NX Pajero Mark plug centre Feed washer hosework up thorugh hole in the SmartBar, each side METAL SUPPORT BUMPER NOTCH M10 square washer M10x30 bolt METAL SUPPORT 115-G1 Stitching screws 115-S5 M10x25 bolt 5.4 Fit the fl are to the vehicle and mark a line on the trimmed bumper piece 10mm above the top face of the smartbar. Mark the end of the 10mm line onto the fl are and remove the trimmed bumper piece. Push the fl are against the wing of the smartbar and mark a line 10mm above the top of the smartbar using a ruler and marker. Trim the fl ares using a hacksaw blade. Trim the bumper piece to the marked 10mm line and refi t to the vehicle. Attach the fl are and mark on the bumper piece the bottom 10mm of the fl are rubber gasket using a marker. 5.4 Mark bottom of flare gasket 10MM Page 5 of 8

6 5.5 Remove the bumper piece and mark a notch with the dimensions illustrated. Cut out using the hacksaw blade Fit the pinchweld to the bottom of the trimmed bumper piece leaving about 30mm overhang on the inner end. Feed the other end through the cut slot to allow the pinchweld to follow the bottom of the fl are. 5MM Mark notch 5.7 Fit the bumper section to the vehicle and push the fl are into the pinchweld as the plug is pushed into the bumper piece. Use a fl at bladed screw driver to fi nalise the location of the pinchweld onto the fl are, trim the end of the pinchweld fl ush with the end of the fl are if necessary MM Bumper section 3MM 5.8 Refi t the screw that was removed from the top of the bumper wing earlier.(in step 2.10) 30MM Pinchweld Re-fit screw 5.9 If lights are to be fi tted, mount the light to the spotlight brackets 115-CB1 and adjust fi t. Tighten the bottom light nut and fi t the spotlight bracket using the hardware as shown. The lights should be wired by a qualifi ed auto electrician. 5.9 M10x25 bolt 115-CB1 Note: SmartBar bear no responsibility for any electrical failure caused by the incorrect fi ttment of lights. Upon completion of wiring, lamps should be focused to suit the owners requirements and mounting bolts tightened Fit the number plate to the smartbar with the 12x1 screws supplied. Screw the wheel arch liner to the SmartBar wheel arch using the button head screws supplied. Re-fi t the plugs into the bottom of the metal mud fl ap support Connect the end of the head light washer hose work (that is through the hole SmartBar) to the nozzle in the fi llers using the instruction in the kit. Attach the 162-FSL & FSR to the bar using the black screws in the kit.
