1 Fanatec Universal Hub conversion guide January 2018 This guide will show you how to fit our Fanatec conversion kit to the Universal Hub. The hub we are using was purchased in November Older versions have some differences which we will try and describe as we go through the conversion steps. Our Universal hub also has our snap action shifter add on which is why the shiffters look different. Step 1 Open up the Hub by removing the 4 bolts shown

2 Step 2 Remove all of the button and shifter connectors so that the inside PCB is clear of wires Also remove the little display

3 Step 3 Remove the PCB Start by removing the 4 screws holding the PCB in place Now slide the PCB down towards the USB plug. Newer versions of the Universal hub will allow you to just lift out the PCB together with the top button PCB, leaving the rubber buttons in place. Older versions have the rubber buttons attached to the PCB and so you have to gently ease it out including the buttons. Pushing the buttons in from the top as they move helps just take your time. Be very careful not to break the LED and long stick button.

4 The PCB will come out of the caseing and just be held on by the QR cable. Most versions have glue holding the QR cable plug in place. This can either be softened with a hair dryer or I prefer to just pull it off. However you remove it be very careful and gentle do not pull too hard otherwise the hole socket will come off the PCB. I tend to use my fingernail or a set of blunt plyers and make small twisting motions to pemove the glue in small piees. You can now remove the Fanatec QR by undoing the 6 bolts and pulling the cable and plug through the centre hole. You should now have everything disconnected and are ready to start installing the conversion kit.

6 Step 4 Take the conversion kit as shown the SRM logo is at the top. Pass the cables through the centre hole in the Universal Hub casing. NOTE: If using the AccuForce QR it must be fitted to the conversion kit before fitting the kit to the Hub. Use the 3 supplied bolts to fit the conversion kit to the Universal Hub. We recommend using a little threadlock to prevent them working loose over time.

7 There are 2 sets of wires from the kit. One has a round connector on it. This is a grounding wire which although not normally needed, helps prevent any EMI issues. Take one of the short bolts you removed from the Fanatec QR and use that to fit the ground wire to the top hole. This hole is slightly off as it s designed for 50mm QR s on the other side so it will take a bit more effort to get it to tighten this is good though because it ensures the good grounding connection. Next we need to connect the plug from the kit into the Universal Hub PCB. I supply two different methods for this. Sometimes the kit will have a 13pin plug on it s end, in this case you simply slot that directly into the PCB socket. If you have an 8 pin plug then you should have ordered the Universal Hub cable. This converts the 8 pin to the 13 pin used by the Universal Hub. The other Fanatec CSW wheels us the 8 pin plug. The plug should have the raised part at the top and just slides easily into the socket. You can apply some hot glue if you wish to hold it in place more firmly, but it should not move without. The kit is now applied to the Universal hub.

8 Step 5 Now just reverse the steps for removing the PCB and reassemble the Hub. Take care not to get the kit wires caught under the PCB screws as they will be crushed and damaged when you tighten the screws. If using the older version of the Hub remember to very gently get the top, rubber buttons back into place and again take great care not to damage the long button and LED. Should should now be ready to go. Fit your QR to the kit Plug in the USB cable The buttons will be seen by windows and do not need any software. To use the display you can use the free Fanaleds software.
