2 Masport have been manufacturing and developing lawnmowers since the 1930 s, the first mower manufactured was a 14 push cylinder mower, towards the end of the 1930 s and into to the 1940 s a petrol cylinder mower was developed and hit the market with much success. In 1955 the first rotary mower was produced, the Rotacut, it was available in two sizes 18 and 21 cut. In 1963 Prince Phillip visited the Masport factory clearly indicating that the company was regarded as one of New Zealand s leading manufacturing companies by the Government. In 1968 the Masport brand was successfully introduced to the UK market, the majority of sales were credited to the Rotarola, which was new to the market and ideally suited to British lawns. One of the original rear roller lawnmowers in the UK, the Masport Rotarola has developed a solid, proven track record and over the decades has grown from strength to strength as one of the market leaders in the industry. 9 ROTAROLA - REAR ROLLER ALLOY MOWERS The Rotarola combines the excellent striped finish of a roller mower with the efficiency of a rotary mower. A six model range including push and self propelled models, 54cm/22 self propelled models, and a instart model, fitted with Briggs & Stratton ready start engines or Honda GCV.
