21 ASView Control System Introduction Designed from the outset specifically for use on Autonomous Surface Vehicles (ASV s) Can be integrated with almost any vessel type. Enables the control of ASV s at autonomy levels 0,1 and 2. Full manual control up to automated mission following. In continuous development since 2008 with around 20 man years of effort and 250,000 lines of code. Another 20 man years of effort programmed and funded for the next two years to accelerate development of level 3 and 4 autonomy which enables autonomous algorithms to control vehicle safety of navigation and adapt missions as required with and without human oversight Developed and supported by a highly skilled team of dedicated software, electrical and robotics engineers with extensive real world experience of using ASV s at sea Used on over 60 ASV s to date comprised of 20 different vessel designs.

27 Research and Development In March 2015, ASV was awarded funding by Innovate UK to undertake in excess of 3million worth of R&D for Maritime Autonomous Systems. The work will be carried out in partnership with nine other commercial and research organisations. The projects will look to address the following key areas of marine autonomy development: Over the horizon communications and COLREGS Combining USVs and UUVs for marine surveys Launch and recovery of an AUV from a USV Operating USVs in rough weather conditions
