Original- operation manual (06/10) -en page 4 of 10 2. Function The dosing unit Duftdos Vario- W- Compact- UNI is developed to inject fragrances into the steam pipe of a steam room.

4 Original- operation manual (06/10) -en page 4 of Function The dosing unit Duftdos Vario- W- Compact- UNI is developed to inject fragrances into the steam pipe of a steam room. The interval- and dosing times are adjustable at the front plate of the controller of the unit. The Duftdos Vario- W- Compact- UNI is available for 2 4 fragrances/ fragrance pumps for each aroma. The fragrance can be choosen by a selector switch at the front plate. 2.1 Operation internal If the controller is set on operation internal the chosen pump works continuously according to the settings of dosing- and pause time after the voltage has been connected. The unit has to be interlocked with the steam generator, to ensure that fragrance is only dosed if steam will be produced by the steam generator. 2.2 Operation push-button The controller incl. inputs for push-buttons. By these inputs the unit can be started for a cycle time of 10, 15 or 20 minutes. During this cycle time the unit works again according to the settings of dosing- and pause time. For further details concerning the wiring of the push-buttons please see the enclosed wiring diagramme. 2.3 Front plate

5 Original- operation manual (06/10) -en page 5 of 10 Settings: Dosing: This rotary knob is to set the dosing time from 0,5 5 seconds. The position T-P is the test position for the motor of the pump. If this position is chosen the pump is supplied with permanent voltage. This function is helpful for the deairation of the pump. Pause: This rotary knob is to set the pause time in between the single fragrance injections from 1 20 minutes. Indications: Operation: Pump: Steam generator: Button: Waiting for push-button input: The green LED always shines if the controller will be supplied with voltage. This yellow LED indicates that the according dosing pump is controlled. This yellow LED indicates that the steam generator is controlled. This yellow LED indicates the push-button operation (if connected). This yellow LED indicates that a cycle time (pushbutton operation) is lapsed and that the controller is waiting for a new input signal of the push-button.

6 Original- operation manual (06/10) -en page 6 of Technical description The Duftdos Vario- W- Compact- UNI consits of: - Controller with selector switch peristaltic dosing pump with special hose for fragrances dosing valves 3/8 4x1 stainless steal - 1 console with controller, pumps and 2-4 fragrance bottles 1,5 l - 4 x 3m dosing tube PTFE 4x1 3.2 Dosing performance The dosing performance is according to the setting of the dosing- and pause time (see point 2.3). The max. dosing performance of one pump is app. 3l/h in endurance operation. 3.3 Fragrance dosing A peristaltic pump is used to dose the fragrance. The pump is ideal for achieving low dose rates and is self priming (i.e. no air bubbles). Rotating rolls press the dosing hose against the pump tube housing, whereby the liquid within the hose is pressed out in front of the rolls and at the same time drawn in behind them. The pump is extremely reliable and very simple to handle. Fragrance concentrates are very aggressive. The dosing hose used is resistant against most concentrates that are in common use in the industry but we still recommend to check with your equipment supplier prior to use. 3.4 Dosing valve A back pressure of steam into the fragrance tube is prevented safely by a spring loaded non-return valve. 7 Original- operation manual (06/10) -en page 7 of Console for fragrance bottles The unit is delivered with a console for mounting it on the wall. The conole is designed to take 2-4 fragrance bottles à 1,5 litres. 4. Installation / Taking the unit into operation The unit has to be mounted in an easily accessable place on the wall. For shipping and stock-keeping there are no hoses inserted in the pumps to prevent a deformation of the hose. If the unit is installed the hose has to be inserted carefully by turning the roller to the right. The dosing valves have to be screwed into the steam pipe. Therefore a 3/8 female thread connection is necessary in the steam pipe. Connect the 4x1 PTFE dosing tube to the pressure side of the pumps and at the dosing valve. Install the dosing tube in a protection tube/ empty conduit. Attention! Do not split the dosing tube when fitting! Prevent that fragrance can flow back into the steam generator!!! Fill the fragrance bottles with fragrance and push the suction tube of the pumps into the according bottles. Afterwards choose one of the pumps 1 4 by the selector switch. Now put the rotary knob Dosing on T-P to test the pump. Now the pump is supplied with permanent voltage to deairate the tubing. Proceed accordingly for every pump. Afterwards choose the demanded setting of dosing- and pause time. The dosing of fragrance has to be interlocked with the function of the steam generator to ensure that the dosing will be only activated if steam is produced/ the generator is in operation. As an interlock you can connect the power socket for the unit with the steam generator. If the steam generator does not have an according electronic output you can alternatively use a temperature sensor at the steam tube to release the dosing only when the steam tube is hot.

8 Original- operation manual (06/10) -en page 8 of Maintenance The DUFTDOS pumps are practically maintenance-free and give long life if the following points are considered: - unsuitable fragrances are not used - check the pump head every time you change the canister - change the hose twice anually, if required monthly. If the unit is taken out of service remove the dosing hose from the pump to prevent long term deformation of the hose. The pump head should be checked frequently to assess condition of the peristaltic hose and the roller springs (i.e. no corrosion/wear), if so change peristaltic hose and if necessary roller too. At least once a year the peristaltic hose should be replaced. If not checked, leakage could occur and damage the pump. For exchange cut off suction and injection tube at tube connector, fit the new ends to the connectors of the new peristaltic hose and fit it as described above. Changing the hose set Remove the transparent pump cover and the yellow roller cover. To change the hose set the suction and pressure connections have to be pulled forward. Turn the roller to the right and pull out the pump hose over the cut out at the roller. On reassembly reverse this process.
