4 2 Assembly All support legs according to/similar to 284 are cataphoretically electro-dip primed in black as standard. When subsequently painted, the coat thickness on the support tube should not exceed approx. 50μm so as to ensure it can be moved without difficulty. The support legs must be secured in a suitable way following installation in the support bearing, to prevent pulling out inadvertently: Support legs of the old design A1 by means of an M10 hexagon bolt (alternatively internal hexagon socket or hexagon bolt) with lock nut in the hole provided for this purpose at the end of the support tube. The bolt and nut are not supplied. The support legs according to design A2 are secured basically in the same way using an internal hexagon socket screw, clamping sleeve and lock nut which are mounted in the sliding piece. 5 3 Operation The support legs are used for securely supporting a swap body which has been separated from the chassis. According to the standard, support legs are secured twice in their transport position (spring bolt in the support bearing and second safety device on the outside frame). For moving the support legs to their working position: Swivel the second safety device to the side. Unlock the spring bolt by pulling the actuation handle. Swivel the support leg outside the outside frame of the swap body by 90 downwards. SL-005 SL-003 Grab the support leg from below with both hands and carefully pull off the bearing. 6 3 Operation SL-006 Hang the strut onto the outer bearing. Re-secure the support leg by folding over the actuation handle of the spring bolt. To make it easier for the spring bolt pin to engage, push the support leg back and forth in the carrier bearing a little. The support leg is only securely locked when the strut is hooked in and the spring bolt pin has engaged. Follow the same procedure on all four support legs. Proceed in the opposite direction to move the support legs back to their transport position. It is essential to make sure that the support legs are also locked correctly in the transport position by the spring bolt and are additionally secured by the activated second safety device. ADVICE! Risk of accidents due to incorrect locking and securing of the support legs. Support legs that are not locked or secured or are insufficiently locked or secured can slip out of their bearings and cause fatal injuries to other road users. If a body is parked without its support legs secured or with a cross-strut not engaged, it is possible for it to dip or fall over when a chassis is driven underneath it or when it is being loaded. Before each journey, check that all support legs have been correctly locked and that the second safety device is functioning correctly. Each time after the body has been put down, check that all support legs have been locked correctly and that the cross struts have been hooked in correctly. 6 MUB M01 (REV--) 11/2016 Support legs

7 3 Operation ATTTION! The strut can disconnect from its bearings (catch, bore hole) while the support leg is being operated. When the support legs are actuated, make sure that your hands also grab the strut as well, as a result. The feet should always be located outside the swivelling range of the supports. Never let the support leg and strut drop. It is recommended that suitable protective gloves should be worn. Support legs MUB M01 (REV--) 11/2016 7

8 4 Servicing and testing Support legs acc. to 284 generally do not require any particular maintenance. To ensure that the support leg can be moved easily in the support bearing, the support tube can be greased if required. The support tube on the support bearing should be lubricated at least every three months (grease nipple). Support legs as well as their attachment and mounting on the swap body should be regularly checked for correct function, damage and wear. The intervals must be defined according to the frequency of changes, e.g. at least every 14 days if there are several changes every day, or at least every 3 months if the change intervals are longer. WARNING! Damaged components, i.e. components that are permanently deformed, broken or cracked (support legs and struts, as well as their supporting and bearings) must always be renewed. Repair, e.g. straightening or the like, is only permitted in special exceptional circumstances so as to ensure operational readiness short notice. Any danger of accidents resulting from this must be excluded. In any event, the damaged component must be exchanged. ADVICE! Special features In order to avoid damage to the support legs and in particular their bearings, we recommend that the internal locking components of the vehicles twist locks should always be lowered during the swapping procedure. Using guiding assistance appropriate to the function makes it easier to move the chassis under the body, and significantly minimises the risk of damaging the support legs. Support legs with safety strut The safety strut is only pre-installed. As a result, the tightening torque (~40-50 Nm) of the screw connection on the brake must be checked. The strut brake is intended to prevent the strut from falling down. The optimum setting has been reached when the strut moves down slowly under its own weight. If the force required is too great or the braking effect is too low, it will be possible to compensate by changing the tightening torque. It is recommended for the braking effect to be checked at the aforementioned intervals and corrected if necessary. Support legs with telescope 8 MUB M01 (REV--) 11/2016 Support legs
