1 Installation of Chaff Deck for Case 30/40 Series

3 Please be aware that the following steps require moving heavy components. Lift with knees bent and back straight!

6 Pre-Installation Steps

7 Move spreader right back out of the way. (service position)

8 Remove plastic tailboard. Bolts are to be reused. Remove two pins from hitch. Pins are to be reused. Using the template, cut out THIS hole.

12 Using the supplied rear door extension panel, mounted centrally as a guide, mark out and drill 3 x 8.5mm holes through the panel shown. Warning: Extension panel rests against spreader board. Ensure spreader blades don t contact the extension panel during operation. Manually rotate to check.

13 After fitting door extension panel, fit spreaders into new working position, letting the door rest on the spinners. Mark where the pin would rest and weld a small piece of pipe for the pin to locate into. Move the pin to the new location. Pin to move to new location Above: Small pipe locator after installation

14 Grind off lump in centre of spreader deflector. Fit spreader cover panel. Adjust bottom spread deflector fully open which will stay open during operation.

15 Fit side teardrop panels to each side using existing holes in harvester. Existing bolt holes

16 Fit deflector panel which will sit in spreader cover panel when spreader is returned to working position

17 NOTE: Optional feed roller shown in picture replaces the standard deflector tube if required. Bolt deflector tube onto front of support bracket. Mark out and drill 2 x 8.5mm holes each side and bolt on support bracket at front of deflector panel.

18 Markout and drill 6 x 7mm holes each side and bolt on side flashing.

19 Markout and drill 2 x 8.5mm holes on spreader divider and bolt on supplied knife.

20 Installing the Frame Assembly

21 Slide chaff deck support frame in. Refit the two hitch pins. Bolt up cross-bracing and tighten cross-bracing bolt. Ensure chaff deck support frame is square with rear axle.

22 Installing the remaining panels

23 Fit rear chaff chute to existing frame. Reuse original bolts.

24 Fit left and right plastic side panels

25 Side panels Fit the new spreader side panels. On each side, replace 4 x M8 cuphead bolts with the longer bolts supplied. Fit large washers on each bolt reusing the Nyloc nuts. New panel

28 Hydraulic Installation

30 BEFORE Fit flow controller using supplied bracket. Drill one hole and slide the bracket over the 10mm bolt that is in place. Move hydraulic hose to the flow controller s IN fitting as shown. Move existing hose from HERE to THERE. Note: The setup shown is on a 30 series machine. 40 series machine requires extension hose as shown below.

31 AFTER Fit the new 3/4 hose H6 to the steel return line and loop it around to fit to tee on position EF on the flow controller.

33 Drain tank, then insert tee between this hose and existing tee. Attach case drain hose H7 to bottom of new tee. ` Note: Extra case drain hose (shown) is for optional roller kit. BEFORE AFTER

34 Installing the Top Hat and Rubber Curtains

35 Fit the Top Hat

36 Bolt the rubber curtain onto the bottom of the spreader cover panel with cuphead bolts supplied.

37 Fit the curtain spring tensioner. Cut the chain to adjust tension as needed. The spring should have slight tension on it to create a good seal between the top hat and rubber curtain. Warning: Before moving the chopper back to gain access to the inside of the machine the chain carabiner will need to be unhooked to avoid overtensioning the spring. Remember to reattach after putting back into working position.

38 Adjusting the Decks

40 Tension the belts on both decks. The belt tracking is controlled by the V-guide but the adjustment bolts should be tightened evenly on both sides to prevent excessive wear or friction on the belt. Ensure there is sufficient tension on the belt to ensure slippage doesn t occur but not so tight that there is excessive load on the hydraulic motors. Start the machine and engage the separator, check that the belts are turning the right way.

41 Fit rear hoops with curtains and plastic hood on as shown. Note that the plastic hood fits on the inside of the hoop. NOTE: You may be required to trim the height of the rear rubber curtain to suit your requirements.

45 Note: Idler roller adjuster bolts (shown) are no longer required on V-guided models Fit the speed sensors to the top idler shafts (if not supplied fitted). Fit the two extension harnesses to the speed sensors. Wrap the hydraulic hoses and the wiring harness in the spiral wrap. Then feed the hoses up to the flow control valve and filter housing, and attach to the hydraulic fitting. NOTE! When fitting the wiring harness to the hydraulic hose with the spiral wrap make sure there is slack in the wiring harness, so that you don't pull the wire out of the sensor. Keep all LHS deck hoses & cables together and all RHS deck hoses & cables together so that it is easy to remove either deck to get into the back of the combine.

47 Fit the Farmscan Jackal monitor into the cab of the machine. Run the wiring harness down out of the cab, and across to the left hand side of the machine, then back down to the where the new hydraulic quick release couplings have been installed. Then plug the speed sensors into the harness. Connect the monitor up as per the Farmscan Monitor Manual supplied and program the 2 x Tacho Shaft Speeds. Minimum speed for the alarm should be set at 400rpm and maximum speed 1000rpm. Ideal deck roller speed is between rpm.
