This places the monitor within easy reach and in a convenient viewing position. Figure 1. U-Bracket Installed on the Right Cab Post Step-by-Step Procedure 1. Assemble the monitor in the u-bracket with the supplied plastic knobs. Position the bracket and monitor on the right cab post so that it is positioned for maximum visibility and within easy reach (see Figure 1.). NOTE: If installing a YM2000, PF3000 or PF3000 Pro monitor, mount the u-bracket in the same position on the post bracket. 2. Using the u-bracket as a template, mark the two mounting holes (three holes can be used if desired). Remove the monitor from the u-bracket. 3. Center punch and drill the mounting holes with the provided 13/64 drill bit. 4. Attach the u-bracket to the cab post with two 1/4 x 3/4-inch screws. 5. Reattach the monitor to the u-bracket. 9-2 December

Combine Installation Installing Cab and Distribution Cables Parts required for this procedure: Cab Cable (large diameter cable with rectangular 25 pin connector matching the connector on the bottom of the monitor) Distribution Cable (the bundle of 12 in. long wires with 7 connectors) 1-3/8 in. hole saw and 1/4 in. drill bit Power drill Square file (from Lower Adjuster Kit) 3/4 in. split rubber grommet Stick-on snap-open/closed cable clips Step-by-Step Procedure 6. From the front right corner area of the cab, measure 3-1/2 in. from the front and 2 in. from the side of the cab and make a mark. Attach the 1/4 in. drill bit to the 1-3/8 in. hole saw and drill through the mat and two layers of metal in the floor of the cab. 7. File around the edges of the hole to remove any burrs and to prevent the cables from being cut. 8. Feed the distribution cable down through the hole in the floor you just cut by feeding the larger connectors through first, then the smaller connectors. 9. Slip the 3/4-in. grommet around the distribution cable inside the cab and push it down into the cab floor hole to make a snug fit. 10. Attach the cab cable to the monitor unit in the mounting bracket. NOTE: The connector is D-shaped and will only fit one way. Also, be careful not to cross-thread the thumbscrews that hold the cable to the monitor. They should turn easily. If you have difficulty getting them started, pull the connector out a little bit and use the thumbscrews to pull the connector back up to the monitor. December

Combine Installation Ag Leader Technology IMPORTANT: Never use force to mate electrical connectors. If the connectors do not push together easily, they are not aligned properly. Force on connectors will only result in connector damage. 11. Open three or four of the snap open/closed adhesive clips, place them over the cab cable and snap them closed. 12. The cable should run down the back edge of the right front cab glass from the monitor. Therefore, clean off this area with alcohol swabs and paper towels, peel the backing off the clips and press them firmly against the glass where the cable should be routed. 13. Loop the cable in the front lower cab and use an adhesive tie-down plate at the top of the loop on the window to tie the loop to the window. Use cable ties to also hold the loop together, as shown in Figure 5. Cab Cable Figure 5. Cab cable connected to Distribution Cable 9-4 December

Combine Installation Installing Ground Speed Cable Parts required for this procedure: Ground speed cable (Identified by tag at the end with two connectors) Cable ties Step-by-Step Procedure NOTE: In all steps, tie the ground speed cable to the combine at in. intervals. Be sure it is tied down well enough to keep it away from moving parts. 1. Locate the connection between the ground speed sensor (just above and behind the cab side final drive axle) and the combine s wiring harness. 2. Disconnect the original connectors and install the end of the ground speed cable having two connectors between the existing wiring harness and the ground speed sensor. (Refer to Figure 6) 3. Route the cable through one of the holes in the support frame that is behind the axle. Find the tab attached to the backside of the axle and tie the cable to it. 4. Route the cable behind the axle to the outside channel cab support. There are holes in the channel iron, which can be used to tie down the cable. 5. At the top of the support bracket, route the cable up and over the cross support. This will secure the cable from moving parts. Run the cable to the distribution cable over the hydraulic lines. Flow Sensor installed on elevator. Installing Moisture Sensor The moisture sensor is installed in the horizontal auger kit provided. The existing horizontal auger housing must be removed to install this. NOTE: The brackets used for the horizontal auger tube shown in Figure 10 may differ from your combine. If you have any questions about installation, please call Ag Leader Technology. Parts required for this procedure: Moisture sensor Moisture sensor clearance gage Horizontal auger kit Three 39 in. stainless steel hose clamps Cable ties Two 5/16 x 1 in. buttonhead screws, lockwashers, and nuts 9-10 December

Combine Installation Hacksaw Electric drill and 11/32 inch drill bit Step-by-Step Procedure 1. Remove the existing horizontal auger housing (but not the auger itself). Keep the two nuts and washers removed from the studs attached to the elevator housing for later use. 2. Install the new horizontal auger tube with the slot for the moisture sensor facing down. Make sure that the end of the tube with two slots cut in it is facing the elevator housing. Secure to the elevator housing by placing the tube over the housing with the studs in the slots of the tube. 3. Hand-compress the other end of the tube and use a marking pen to mark the auger flighting through the moisture sensor opening at both ends of the opening. Remove the auger tube and mark 3/8-in. axially outside of the marks you just made. These new marks are where you need to cut out the flighting. NOTE: It may be necessary, before cutting, to weld the flighting to the shaft near the cuts to be made. This is to further secure the auger to the shaft. 4. Use a hacksaw to cut the flighting all the way down to the auger shaft, removing about 6-1/2 in. of flighting. 5. Reinstall the horizontal auger tube and attach the nuts and washers to the studs in the elevator housing through the slots in the tube. Use a hose clamp to compress the tube at the elevator housing end, and use another clamp at the opposite (exit) end to compress the tube there until the tube has the same diameter throughout its length. 6. Use the clearance gage to check for proper clearance at the moisture sensor hole. 7. Adjust the tube up and down to make sure that an acceptable clearance (1/2- in.) exists between the flighting and bottom of the tube. Then, clamp the tube to the existing housing support and drill an 11/32-in. hole through the support into the tube on each side. Fasten with 5/16 x 1-in. buttonhead screws, lockwashers, and nuts. NOTE: Throughout this process of adjusting the tube, make sure that the auger will not rub against the tube at any time. 8. Secure the tube together at the exit end by installing the small bolt and nut provided through the pre-drilled holes at the end of the tube. December

Combine Installation Ag Leader Technology 9. Mount the moisture sensor in the opening and secure to the tube by using a hose clamp provided. 10. Secure the moisture sensor ground strap to the tube by drilling a hole in the tube with the drill bit provided about 90 degrees from the sensor opening. Use the self-tapping screw to secure the ground strap. Hose Clamps Ground Strap Moisture Sensor Figure 10. Moisture Sensor installed on auger. Installing Elevator Speed, Flow Sensor, Moisture Sensor and Power Cables The elevator, flow sensor, and moisture sensor cables are routed together along the side and front edges of the grain tank, down through the grate behind the cab, and then under the cab to the distribution cable. The power cable is routed with these cables from the batteries/pre-cleaner area to the distribution cable. Parts required for this procedure: Elevator speed cable (identified by tag at the end with two connectors) Flow sensor cable (identified by tag at the end: has identical connectors) Moisture sensor cable Cable ties Electric drill and 1/4 inch drill bit 9-12 December

Combine Installation Metal cable clamp (provided) Tin-snips Step-by-Step Procedure 1. Locate and disconnect the elevator speed sensor connectors at the top of the elevator in the grain tank. Connect the elevator speed sensor cable provided between the existing wiring harness and the low shaft speed sensor. 2. Loop the cable attached to the flow sensor through the flow sensor handle. Connect this cable to the flow sensor cable. Using the provided metal cable clamp, clamp the flow sensor cable to the elevator chain shield on the lower shield stud. 3. Using an electric drill and the 1/4 in. drill bit, drill holes in the lower lip of the grain tank edge, starting at a location near the elevator and spacing approximately in. along the edge to a location about 12 in. away from the unloading auger. These will be used for cable ties. 4. Join the three cables together at the hole near the elevator and tie them together with a cable tie so that the cables will stay inside the lip of the grain tank edge. 5. Route the cables along the grain tank edge inside the lip and tie them with cable ties. 6. At a point near the back-right corner of the pre-cleaner grate, route the cables over the top edge of the grain tank, as shown in Figure 11. Figure 11. Cables exiting grain tank into pre-cleaner grate December

Combine Installation Ag Leader Technology 7. Using Tin-snips, cut a small section of the grate out so that the cables can be routed through it. 8. Route the cable into the pre-cleaner area and tie them to the top of the grate. Route the cables to the channel that supports the end of the rotary screen. NOTE: Make sure that the cables do not come into contact with moving parts. 9. Route the cables down the pre-cleaner support and tie with cable ties, as shown in Figure 12. Figure 12. Cables tied to pre-cleaner support December

Combine Installation 10. Connect the power cable to the front battery by placing the red wire with the inline fuse to the positive terminal, and connecting the black wire to the negative terminal. 11. Route all four cables along the cab support and over the cross support bracket at the middle of the cab. Route the cables over the hydraulic lines and connect with their corresponding connections on the distribution cable. 12. Tie any cables with excess length together with cable ties and secure away from moving parts. Installing Lower Adjuster IMPORTANT: A slide adjuster must be installed at the lower end of the clean grain elevator, so the top shaft of the elevator can remain in a fixed position. If you don t install this lower slide adjuster, every time you adjust the top shaft to tighten the chain your grain weight calibration will change. IMPORTANT: If your elevator chain and top drive sprocket have several years of use, it is a good idea to install new parts. If these parts are changed at a later date, it will affect the calibration of the monitor. Parts required for this procedure: Lower elevator adjuster assembly 1 in. bearing Large hole spacer Small hole spacer Metal drill template 13/32 in. drill bit, 13/32 in. punch, and 5/16 in. square file 2-1/2 in. hole saw Electric drill and hand grinder December

Combine Installation Ag Leader Technology Step-by-Step Procedure 1. On the left side of the combine, find the lower auger pulley next to the unloading auger and disconnect the belts that drives it, so that the lower auger can be turned easily. NOTE: It is not necessary to disconnect the sieves arm attached to the pulley. 2. Find the connecting link in the elevator chain and split it so that the elevator and lower auger can be turned easily. 3. Remove the existing bearing housing and bearing from the shaft of the lower auger on the right side of the combine. 4. Mount the drill template on the existing studs and drill 13/32-in. holes at the four corner holes with the 13/32 in drill bit and drill, as shown in Figure 13. Figure 13. Drilling Adjuster mounting holes in elevator. 5. Use the square file to file the holes out to match the square holes in the drill template. 6. Install the 2-1/2 in. hole saw in a low speed 1/2 in. drill and cut through the elevator plate with the saw guided in the center hole of the template. 7. Remove the drill template and grind off the existing studs so that they are flush with the elevator side plate December

Combine Installation 8. Remove the carriage bolts from the elevator adjuster assembly and place them through the square holes facing out. 9. Place the large hole spacer, then the small hole spacer over the bolts. Then place the elevator adjuster over the same carriage bolts. NOTE: You must install all of these parts. The small hole spacer is to prevent grain from exiting the elevator. 10. Place the bearing with integral locking collar on the shaft. Check for full up/down travel without the sprocket or auger hitting. 11. Put the master link back on the elevator chain. NOTE: It may be necessary to take out more links from the chain to allow the lower adjuster to work properly. If this is needed, take out one link and replace it with the included half link. If you have any problems with this, call Ag Leader Technology. 12. With the lower auger suspended on the elevator chain, tighten all the bolts on the lower elevator adjuster. Center paddles left-to-right inside the elevator and tighten the setscrews in the bearing. 13. Put all the belts from the drive of the lower auger back on and tighten to previous tensions. Figure 14. Lower Adjuster installed on elevator. December

Combine Installation Ag Leader Technology Final Inspection Installation is now complete. Do a walk around of the combine and complete the following: All cable connections have been made. Excess cable has been tied out of the way, so there is no interference. All tools have been removed from the combine. All cap screws and carriage bolts are tight. Operational Checkout for PF Series Monitor Step-by-Step Procedure Refer to the Display Items section in the Operation Section for instructions on how to display different items on the screen. 1. Start engine. 2. Turn the monitor power switch ON and verify that the monitor turns on properly. A field and load should be displayed at the top. 3. Display Elevator Speed on the screen. 3a. Verify that elevator RPM stays at zero with the separator and header OFF. 3b. Engage the separator and verify the monitor measures elevator RPM. It should be between RPM at full engine speed. NOTE: On some combine models, the header must be engaged to get an elevator speed signal. If you do not get an elevator RPM reading, engage the header drive December

Combine Installation 4. Display Ground Speed on the screen. Move the combine slowly to verify the monitor measures MPH at low speeds (below 1 mph). NOTE: MPH will NOT be accurate, because the monitor has not yet been calibrated to your combine. 5. Start the separator with the combine at rest and verify that the monitor reads 0.0 MPH. 6. Display Head Height on the screen. 7. Lift the head and verify the head height number increases. Lower the head and verify the head height number decreases. 8. Display Temp on screen and verify that there is a temperature reading. The temperature may be off slightly because it has not been calibrated. Refer to the Setup Section of the Operator s Manual to adjust the monitor to your combine. Operational Checkout for YM 2000 Step-by-Step Procedure Refer to General Description in the Setup Section of the Operator s manual for a description of the key. 1. Start Engine. 2. Flip the monitor power switch ON and verify that the monitor turns on properly. (a) The top display should show F1 L1 (b) The lower-left display should show SOYBEANS. 24 Combine Installation NOTE: On some combine models, the header must be engaged to get an elevator speed signal. If you do not get an elevator RPM reading, engage the header drive. 4. Move the combine slowly to verify that the monitor measures MPH at low speeds (below 1mph). NOTE: MPH will not agree with the combine s monitor, because the yield monitor has not been calibrated to your combine. 5. Start the separator with the combine at rest and verify that the monitor reads0.0 MPH. 6. Place the feeder house at about mid-height. 7. Place the AREA COUNT switch in the UP position. 8. Select STOP HEIGHT on the top display. 9. If the red AREA COUNT light is ON, increase the stop height displayed on the top line (using the UP ARROW key for the top display) until the light goes out. 10. If the AREA COUNT light is OFF, decrease the stop height displayed until the light comes on. 11. Verify that the AREA COUNT light goes out as the head is dropped slightly below the original position and comes on as the head is slightly above the original position. NOTE: Use small up and down head movements for this check. If you use large motions, it may appear that the head moves too far before the light changes, because there can be up to a 1 second delay before the monitor gets to the point in its program cycle where it checks header height December

Combine Installation 12. Check for proper connection of the moisture sensor as follows: (a) Ensure the Yield Monitor 2000 is powered up. (b) Set MOIST = AUTO under the MOIST key.
