(ITS) Externa temperature contros not necessary THE PROBLEM Snow that has buit up on a roof wi start to met as a resut of either exposure to the sun or from heat rising from the buiding beow. As the meted snow runs from the roof into cod gutters and drain pipes, it can re-freeze forming ayers of ice that can continue to buid up unti the fow is bocked. This can resut in damaged drains and gutters. In addition, water can get into the roof and was of the buiding, eading to expensive structura damage such as broken roof ties, damaged paster and facades, etc. THE SOLUTION We have the soution in the form of G-Trace. This sef-reguating heating cabe is avaiabe in two specifications, standard GTe and GT giving increased mechanica resistance for use in more arduous conditions. As for choice pease refer to the seection guide on the back page of this data sheet. The sef-reguating characteristics of the heating tape means that the cabe can adjust it s heat output in accordance with the ambient temperature. In snow and icy water, the heating cabe operates at fu power. As the snow mets and the water drains away, G- Trace sef-reguates to haf power whie it dries. As it gets warmer, so G-Trace graduay reduces it s output. The G-Trace system is safe and reiabe, as sef-reguation prevents overheating, G-Trace can even be instaed in pastic gutters and with the UV resistant outer jacket, the heating cabe is protected from the sun s harmfu rays thus making it totay durabe and reiabe. G-Trace provides a cost effective, preventive maintenance soution to damaged roof tops and gutters and the system consumes no more power than it takes to prevent ice formation. Design and instaation of a G-Trace system is simpe as there are no fixed engths. The heating tape can be cut to ength during instaation. G-Trace is cut off the ree and paced in the gutter. The heating tape is suspended within the downpipe without the need for spacers. The use of re-circuating systems usuay ony maintains the water temperature in the main pipes and doubes the amount of pipework from which heat, and therefore energy, is ost. Hotwat is a parae resistance, sef-reguating heating cabe designed to compensate for heat osses from hot water distribution systems. The heater comprises a semi-conductve sef-reguating heating eement which automaticay reduces its power output as the pipe temperature increases. Thus, the heater cannot overheat or burn out. By appying Hotwat to the pipework (beneath the therma insuation) heat osses are eiminated and the water is maintained at the required temperature. Further savings are achieved by removing the need for recircuating pipework together with pumps, vaves, etc. There are two Hotwat systems avaiabe. HW-R is simpy used to maintain the pipework at approximatey C, whist HW-P is used to maintain C during norma operation with an extra disinfection feature at timed intervas to reduce risks of egionea. The appication of Hotwat to insuated hot water pipework enabes hot water to be avaiabe at each tap and dramaticay improves the system efficiency compared with un-insuated re-circuating pipework systems.
