2 Optimising the Jet Air s system The Jet Air is in house since Since then it lost most of the efficiency on its air blast system. Because of the low efficiency it wasn't in the manager s snow removing plan anymore. In 2011 we decided to modify the nozzle system. 2

7 Upgrade of the runway and apron fleet Since 1988,here is the inventory of ploughs and sweepers that were dedicated to runways and apron snow clearing 8 X 1988 International trucks equipped with 16 feet wide reversible ploughs and old technology 8 X 14 feet wide sweepers SMI X Ploughs with tow behind sweepers at a 12 feet sweeping pattern at a 30 degrees angle + 1 over lap the cleaned surface would be 88 7

9 Upgrade of the runway and apron fleet (next) Upgrading the fleet means 8 X Oshkosh truck equipped with 24 wide ploughs 8 X MB brooms sweepers 22 wide 8 X ploughs and brooms sweepers at a 18 feet sweeping pattern with a 30 degrees angle + 1 foot overlap, the cleaned surface is 136 feet wide compared to 88 feet with the old equipments 9

21 Apron snow blower modification The snow blower cab as been raised 12 from the original version. The main purpose modifying the apron snow blowers was to improve visibility during loading operation A lot more comfortable for the operator during the 12 hours sitting in the equipment. Improve safety with a higher visibility during an event 21

22 Optimising the use of John Deer tractor Next slide shows 4 of our 5 tractors equipped with 26 feet wide lawn mowers working in conga line cutting the 200 feet each side of the runways These tractors were used only in the summer 22

24 Optimising the use of John Deer tractor (next) To optimise the use of those tractors we decided in 2005 to buy 16 feet wide snow blades for all of them. The result was significant, they are mainly assigned for gate cleaning, around the aircrafts and in the handlers areas. 5 times 16 wide snow equipment, it is a lot of snow moving in an hour. 24

26 Optimising the use of our front end loader (next) In 2002 we decided to optimise the use of our 4 front end loaders in buying 4 snow 25 wide Deslamco Blades. It is the best acquisition we ve made in the last 10 years. They are: Versatile Solid Efficient Low cost maintenance Reliable Easy to operate 26

The trucks have been replaced by trucks equipped with roll off system. The same truck could work in spreading deicing products, hauling dirt or even use a fifth wheel. These trucks now work all year long 29

32 2001 Hybrid Sander developed in house with supplier (next) Hybrid sander allows us to: 30 wide liquid spraying Mostly use on taxiways and guide lines of the apron Pre-wet the surface before a freezing rain On dry ice, spraying liquid on top of the solid de-icer will raise the humidity on the grains and make it stick to the ice and in the mean time make it react faster Gives us more flexibility 32

35 New controllers installed in all spreaders (next) The new controllers install in the sprayer are linked to the chemical ops system and gives us a complete report by event They are very user friendly Less time spent on training The supplier gave us a simulator for training Standardising the controllers makes it easier to manage training for operators 35

39 Optimising the use of a 11 Toro lawn mower The Toro 11 lawn mower was use in the summer mostly to cut grass. In 2003 with the new configuration of the terminal we end up with a tight configuration of the guide lines so we had to adjust our guide lines snow removal procedure and clean them as often as we can otherwise we had to deal with complaints from the pilots and safety issues We added to the snow removal fleet 4 little lawn mower with 6 feet wide brooms. 39

Optimisation of the fleet give's us more flexibility and more production Down time on runways passed from 40 minutes to 20 minutes at the same safe working speed Better service for our partners (handlers and Airlines) Employees are proud Keep up with upgrade process 45
