2 2. SHORT TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION The chemical vehicle is composed of the undercarriage and of the superstructure. The undercarriage: (Chassis): Of T 815 6x6 complies with all the prescriptions concerning the traffic on public communications, has very good off-road qualities, high terrain clearance, equipped by 8-cylinder turbocharged diesel TATRA. The undercarriage is composed of central cylindrical longer on, with swinging half-axles and independent wheel springs, the front half-axles are sprung by torsion bars. The springs are reinforced by hydraulic, telescopic shock absorbers. Rear axles are sprung by longitudinal leaf springs. The body work forms the driver s cabin, containing also the service crew. The cabin is of all-metal construction, foldable, with two doors, set on the frame. The cabin s roof has a rectangular hatch. Driver s and co-driver s seats are adjustable. Between them, there is an auxiliary seat for two persons. In the rear of the cabin there s a fixed bed. In the driver s cabin a radio station may be built in, according to the wish of the customer. There is also an independent heater of the cabin. The control panel in the cabin enables: start and stop of the META-pump start and stop of spraying the road from the front ridge indication of the pressure on the exit of the META-pump indication of the temperature of the mixture in the tank content s indication in the tank On the roof of the cabin is mounted a blue hazard beacon, decontamination probe and a tube for taking samples. In the side wall, inside of the cabin, there are built-in the 24V and 12V DC sockets. The driver s cabin is equipped by the filtering ventilation and the orange beacon on the roof. Inside of the cabin, on the bottom and on the doors, there s a protective layer protecting the crew against the radioactivity from the terrain. Junction of the coachwork (superstructure) The superstructure is joined to the undercarriage by means of the frame according to the requirement of the builder of the superstructure. The electrical installation of the superstructure is connected to the installation of the undercarriage. The hydro generator for driving the hydro motors is connected directly to the servo drive. SUPERSTRUCTURE The superstructure is composed of: complete tank frame of the superstructure hydraulic circuit functional unit of the low-pressure circuit functional unit of the high-pressure circuit and of the steam circuit fuel tank electrical installation control panels heaving ramps for the SANIJET covers outfit of the vehicle

3 Frame of the superstructure The frame of the superstructure is welded from two lingering, cross beams, flanges and bases (foots), for fastening individual aggregates. The front part of the frame houses the pump of the low-pressure circuit and the fuel tank. The central part of the frame houses the complete tank fastened with a foots of the tank In the rear part of the frame two SANIJET aggregates are fastened, salvage winch and the towing hook. The complete tank The complete tank is composed of the proper stainless three-chamber tank with the total volume of chambers 6000 dm3. All three chambers have the same volume of 2000 dm3. The front (I.) and the central (II.) chamber is destined for the decontamination mixture. The rear (III.) chamber is for water. Each of the chambers has in its upper part a hatch and signalization of the fullness. The I. and II. have the mixing tube. All the chambers have impenetrable capillary fuse against the penetration of flame with over- and under- pressure fuse and with a fuse against the loss of liquid in case of an overthrow of the truck. The suction piping is led below the tank to the individual chambers. The delivery piping of the low-pressure circuit is led out from the tank through the bottom. Through the rear bottom is led the tubing of steam supply to the heaters. The tank is not insulated thermally. Hydraulic circuit The hydraulic circuit serves to ensure the drive of the following aggregates of the superstructure: The pumps of the low-pressure circuit The source of the pressure oil is the hydrogenerator, connected to the servodrive of the undercarriage. The regulation of the hydrogenerator is realized by regulating the revolutions of the engine (in the undercarriage) by the accelerator pedal or by the lever of manual regulation of the undercarriage engine revolutions, placed in the housing of the pump META. The drive of the above mentioned aggregates of the superstructure is assured by the hydromotors. Into the hydraulic circuit belong the oil tank, oil cooler with fan and hydraulic elements. Functional unit of the low-pressure circuit The low pressure circuit is formed by centrifugal pump driven by hydromotor, ball cooks, suction filters, exhaust vacuum pump, spraying pipe, and connection pipe. Manual handling of the ball cocks, only the ball cock for switching the spraying pipe is controlled remotely electro pneumatically. From the sides of the vehicle the crew of ACHR-90M may control all the functions except washing-off the road through the spraying pipe. From the cabin of the vehicle it is possible to control the starting or stopping the washing-off the road through the spraying pipe. For eventual raising the suction of the centrifugal pump servers the exhaust vacuum pump controlled electro pneumatically. The suction of the centrifugal pump and pumping into the streamlines is possible from left and right side of the vehicle. The functional unit of the high-pressure and steam circuits The source of the high-pressure and the steam circuit are two aggregates SANIJET C 921 D, placed in the rear of the vehicle so that it were possible to unload these aggregates on the earth by means of lifting ramp and so to prepare it for further possible transport. The aggregate SANIJET is the source of: High-pressure cold water Low-pressure warm water High-pressure hot water Wet and dry steam Electric power

4 Suction for the aggregate SANIJET is enabled either from the rear chamber of the tank or from an outer source of water. The steam produced by the equipment SANIJET is being used for heating individual chambers of the tank. Through the steam distribution the steam is being led to the individual chambers. SANIJET and the whole highpressure and the steam circuit are being controlled from the rear side of the vehicle. THE FUEL TANKS The motor truck carries 460 litres of motor petroleum (420 litres in the tank and 40 litres in petrol can) for the engine of the vehicle and for the engine of the aggregate SANIJET. As an accessory there is a petrol can with 40 litres of gas for the combustion engine of the portable swimming pump. The petroleum tank is placed on the frame of superstructure, the petrol cans in the box of the superstructure. Electro installation Electro installation secures the operation of electro aggregates built in the vehicle for filling the functions of the superstructure, controlling panels and lighting of the space of the superstructure boxes. CONTROL PANELS The central control panel concentrates all the control elements and instruments indicating values decisive for undisturbed function of all aggregates. This central panel is placed on the side of vehicle, in a box of the superstructure. In the driver s cabin is placed a panel with controlling elements of functions and with instruments indicating quantities being possible during the movement of the vehicle and doubles the control of these functions. These are the following functions: Starting and stopping of the pump META Washing-off the road through the spraying pipe Indication of the fullness of tanks The aggregates SANIJET have their proper built-in control panels, accessible from the rear part of the vehicle, after opening the doors of the superstructure. Lifting ramp of the SANIJET-aggregate The ramp is placed in the rear part of the superstructure of the aggregates SANIJET and assures their lowering to the earth, for possible further transport. BODY Fully covered, maximum protection of all parts of the superstructure against dirt and against unwanted. The whole construction made with respect to simple and easy proper decontamination of the vehicle. The compartments of the functional units of the low-pressure, high-pressure and steam circuits are heated in winter time by two hot -air petroleum heaters with appropriate distributors of warm air toward the aggregates. The outfit of the vehicle The outfit according is placed in boxes and cases and on the platform of the superstructure and in the cabin of the chassis.

BASIC DECONTAMINATION TECHNOLOGY Efficiency of optimum decontamination technology depends on many factors as are, e.g. kind and feature of contaminant which may be either radioactive or chemical as well as biological agents, efficacy of used decontamination mixture, character of contaminated surface, external climatic condition, etc. Quality of surface protection is also significant as well as shape complexity and accessibility of surfaces. The technical equipment and various accessories enable the ACHR- 90M vehicle to bring about almost all basic decontamination technologies, e.g. the treatment of surfaces by scrubbing with flow-brushes, spraying decontamination mixtures being in form of a solution or a dispersion (i.e. suspension, emulsion and foam, resp.) with density of 0.2 to 3 dm³, flushing by means of high-pressure up to 9 MPa and application of steam stream. Due to technical concept of the ACHR-90M vehicle including its assigned equipment the wide possibilities of its variable utilisation, depending on combat situation is given. Moreover, it also takes into account requirements to compatibility and co-operation with decontamination equipment. Basic variants and ways of application of the ACHR-90M are illustrated on included photos and following schemes: Variant No 1 Vehicle decontamination by two-stages process. In the first stage the decontaminated vehicles are sprayed with decontamination mixture using lances with spraying nozzles. The mixture is pumped into lances from tank using the META (M) pump. Using foam-forming nozzle the mixture is sprayed as foam. In the second stage the vehicles are rinsed by water stream generated by the SANIJET (S) aggregates at pressure of 9 MPa. Final rinsing is enabled by nozzle with fan-like shaped stream of high efficiency or nozzle rotating stream with rinsing intensity. The FROGGY (V) floating pump provides water transport into the vehicle tank up to distance of 200 m.

10 Variant No 2 Is established to operate in six work-sites using hose distribution net and lances with flow-brushes. Each of vehicle to be treated is situated on work-site at which is decontaminated with assistance of its crew. For application of non-freezing decontamination mixture the brushes could be replaced by spraying nozzles and decontamination is performed without water rinsing. The mixture is pumped into lances from vehicle tank using the META pump or the FLUX electrical pump from collapsible reservoir (CRT). When one vehicle only or smaller number of them is decontaminated the mixture could be prepared in a portable barrel with volume of 50 dm³. Besides this one basic work-site with lances two other ones could be established with the SANIJET aggregates, collapsible tanks and floating water pumps. Variant No 3 Equipment of the vehicle is selected and situated on three work-sites. On the first site there the SANIJET aggregate with collapsible tank and the FROGGY floating water pump operate decontaminating vehicles. The second SANIJET aggregate is used as a heating and pumping source for showers in order to provide personnel decontamination.
