43 CERTIFICATIONS AND AFFILIATIONS Achieving triple chain-of-custody forestry certifications at our facility provides assurance to our customers that our products come from sustainable, non-controversial sources. Forest Stewardship (FSC) Certification FSC is the only forest certification that verifies claims from the forest all the way to the final product through its Chain-of-Custody process. The FSC operates according to strict principles that closely reflect our own. Using 18,200 tons of paper from FSC-certified companies each year, we found it crucial for Nekoosa to become certified as well. Nekoosa s facility is certified to the standards to the FSC, meaning that we can source and track wood and fiber from FSC-certified, well-managed forests. This earned our facility FSC chain-of-custody certification (SGS- COC ). Having passed a rigorous audit, Nekoosa also offers a full line of FSCcertified premium digital coated papers. Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Certification SFI Chain-of-Custody certification extends to the marketplace by tracking fiber content from certified lands through production and manufacturing to the end product. Nekoosa s internal processes and procedures that track FSC-certified raw materials earned our company SFI chain-of-custody certification (SGS-COC ). In addition, Nekoosa is the only company to offer both offset and digital SFI-certified carbonless papers. Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) The PEFC s purpose is to motivate and enable people to sustainability manage their forests and works to provide a market for the products of those forests. Our facility earned PEFC chain-of-custody certification (SGS-COC ), which provides assurance that the wood we use comes from ecologically, socially and economically sustainable forests. ISO 14001:2004 The ISO14001:2004 standard requires organizations to take a hard look at all areas where its activities have an environmental impact. It shows what an organization is doing to minimize harmful effects on the environmental performance. Our paper products are produced in facilities that obtain certification to the internationally recognized ISO14001, a comprehensive environmental management system. Therefore, all of the base stock in our carbonless products is also ISO certified. 42
