3 Self Priming Systems Compressor Prime Involves passing a jet of compressed air through a venturi-type nozzle to evacuate the pump casing and suction line. It makes sure priming is fast, positive and continuous - even under snore conditions. The priming system has no moving parts. This greatly reduces maintenance requirements. System Features and Benefits Impeller Stainless steel 316 for optimum corrosion resistance. Two per cent chromium and CD4MCu available as options. Impellers are open to improve solids handling, and have back vanes and holes for pressure balancing. Venturi prime Simple design, easy to clean. Modular for easy parts replacement. The Venturi system requires very little maintenance, and so is easily serviced in the field. Volute Spheroidal graphite cast iron for superior strength compared to ductile and grey iron. This also helps prevent cracking in the metal. Wear plates 316 stainless steel replacement front and rear wear plates. Chromium steel abrasion resistant and CD4MCU corrosion and abrasion resistant steel are available options. Replaceable wear plate adjustment facility lowers operation and substitution costs. Discharge Flapper style check valve for deck discharge, or ball type for top discharge available. Compressor Water cooled compressors for lower running costs. This means a longer life and less maintenance of the compressor and Venturi priming system. Seal Oil bath mechanical seals allow dry running for extended periods. The oil bath dissipates the heat and lubricates the seal. Silicone carbide and tungsten carbide for the most effective head and friction coefficient. Seal technology allows for higher pressures, which improves performance in flooded suction and series pumping. Seal elastomers include Buna N and Viton. Shaft 431 stainless steel to help prevent rust or pitting on the shaft and make seal changes faster and simpler. Vacuum Prime Features a vacuum priming chamber which dramatically reduces carry-over due to the stainless steel baffle deflector plates and pancake float. 4 Contractors Range Incorporating the new MH300i Designed to deliver market-leading fluid handling efficiencies while being sensitive to the environment. Contractors pumps are fully auto-priming and can run dry for extended periods without damage. This is made possible by a clever oil bath mechanical seal assembly which allows priming with long suction hoses and suction lifts of up to 9 metres (28 feet). As fluid levels fluctuate, the pump will snore until sufficient liquid is available for the pump to fully reprime itself automatically. Xtra pumps come with increased shaft stiffness ratios so that they can withstand particularly high pressures and loads without any threat of compromise to the seal integrity through shaft flexing. 7 QS Range A whisper quiet range of pumps designed for urban and other project sites where noise can be a problem. Priming QS pumps are available with either Compressor Prime or VACUMAX Vacuum Prime systems. Both systems are fully automatic and interchangeable and the canopy design is unaffected by the choice of priming system. Noise. QS pumps have been designed to comply with noise output regulations governing worksites and urban areas. Available as either basic QS or super sound-proofed SQS variants, maximum noise output is 62 dba at seven metres when operating at full load. Maintenance Large lockable access doors have been designed with fast routine maintenance in mind. External drain plugs are fitted for fuel, oil and water. The skid base fuel tank can be easily drained and flushed out if necessary, and the entire canopy can be quickly removed for major maintenance. Options QS pumps are available with either Vacumax or Compressor Prime systems, and with a range of diesel power options. Skid Based QS pump sets can be fixed to a common skid base which incorporates a 24 hour (minimum) fuel tank and bunded area. Mobile QS pumps can be bolted onto a twin axle galvanised trailer. If appropriate, the trailer system can be fitted with hose racks to store 10 lengths of suction hose, and 100 metres of layflat discharge hose. 8 Yakka Range Widely considered to be the world s most versatile pump. Designed to suit the requirements of almost any three, four or six inch pump application. Ideal for mining, construction, sewer bypass and rental. As well as being versatile, the Yakka pump is also very quiet. 10 Dragflow Pumps Also available exclusively throughout Australia and New Zealand from AllightSykes, the Dragflow agitator slurry pump is designed to move dense slurries. Unlike most competitive pumps, it is able to pick up solids from rest, mix them into a high density slurry and then pump them all in one operation. The clever design of the pump s agitator holds the key to its ability to pick up material from rest. It also enables the pump to handle fast settling, high specific gravity solids and viscous thixotropic mud. It works by creating a down pressure which stirs up material below the pump s suction. The mixed and homogenized slurry is then drawn back into the suction as a highly concentrated, uniform slurry. Material too large to enter the pump s suction (screen) is repelled so that it cannot plug the suction screen. The pressure differential (suction of pump versus down pressure of agitator) which is created mixes and homogenizes the stirred up material. 10 ALLIGHTSYKES WATER

Sykes hoses and fittings are made to conform to the rigorous standards set by our world class Engineering Department. They are available from our network of branches and worldwide distributors. Hose Couplings (Bauer type) Strong and reliable Strainers Split intake and general purpose strainers ensure no large solids are drawn in to the pump, and so limit the likelihood of damage. Lightweight and easy to use, the strainers are fitted onto flanged or bauer hose tails. Reinforced PVC Heavy Duty Layflat Hose Reinforced with an embedded nylon web. Can be coiled for easy storage and transportation. Wire Armoured Suction Hose A tough, durable hose which will stand up to the most harsh site conditions. Suitable for both suction and discharge lines. Galvanised Steel Pipe Made from high quality, spiral welded, hot dipped galvanized steel and fitted with quick release couplings.
