2 STEP.1 Get familiar with the D. F. E. Observe these parts and positioning of the Ausbinder V-3 Handle should sit in the upright stowing position as shown. Swivel end grab hook in back hooking position. Ratchet release plate fitted with double latch can be operated from both sides of the handle. D. Handle has built in safety lock mechanism to lock in the ratcheting pawl while handle is sitting in stow position. E. Adjustable chain end and grab hook with finger ring pull stop. F. When binder has top hook connected to binding chain ensure the adjustable chain has no twist before connection with grab hook. Warning; Make sure the handle sits in the stow position at all times even when not in use this will ensure the springs sit in decompressed state this action will increase the life of the springs. 3 STEP.2 Neutral position D. Neutral positioning of the Once top hook is connected pull back the ratcheting plate. Pull down handle all the way to the stop. This action will move the pawls back so that the chain wheel sits in neutral position. D. The chain can run freely ready for connection and adjustment. Ausbinder S2 Instruction Page 3 8/31/2010

4 STEP.3 Final connection. Connection of the Once top hook is connected to binding chain Ensure binder has the adjustable chain fully extended. Ensure no twist is in the chain before hooking the grab hook. D. Connect the bottom hook in a back hooking fashion as shown. Tip Back hooking of grab hooks of a binder is a recommended way to connect to load chains as this keeps the binder closer to the operator while ratcheting the devise. D. 5 STEP.4 Tension slack Tension the slack Once both hooks are connected to binding chain. Hold the back stop ring with finger to pull up tension of the binder chain. Hold the handle with other hand and release the ratcheting latch and move handle upward. Ausbinder S2 Instruction Page 5 8/31/2010

6 STEP.5 Ratcheting Ratcheting the Binder Move the handle all the way up with one hand. Keep tension on the back stop ring with other hand. Ensure the ratcheting pawl is functioning properly during this procedure. Ausbinder S2 Instruction Page 6 8/31/2010

7 STEP.6 Tensioning B Tensioning the Binder Move the handle upward until it has reached the ratchet gear and chain s slack has been taken up you can procede with ratcheting stage. Stand on firm ground and with both hands ratchet the handle downwards and upwards until desired tension is reached. To reach pretension of 800kg to 900kg on the chain the handle force is around 40kg to 50 kg. D. When ratcheting is finished ensure the handle is stowed in upright position ready for transportation. D. Tip Before driving check all your restraint system is adequately tensioned also safe and recheck your cargo tension during transportation operation. Ausbinder S2 Instruction Page 7 8/31/2010

9 STEP.8 Release & Stowing Release & Stow the Binder Stand firm with both feet on flat ground and with both hands on handle push the handle all the way downward until tension has been released out of the chain. Pull down adjustable chain to dislodge grab hooks Stow handle upright position when finished using the Ausbinder. Ausbinder S2 Instruction Page 9 8/31/2010

10 STEP.9 Maintenance Instructions The Ausbinder is a mechanical devise that tensions load binding chain generally for use of loads on trucks. Therefore the unit has a number of mechanical parts that shall be maintained before use there are a few steps to consider to perform maintenance to ensure proper and safe operation of the Ausbinder S-3. Maintenance Procedure 1. Ensure the unit is clean and free from dirt, grit or any other foreign matter, use hose at high pressure to flush out dirt from unit leave to dry and reapply lubricate to Ausbinder. 2. Check all moving parts for any, cracks, wear, distortion or corrosion or any other signs of damage. 3. Inspect chains and fittings on unit for wear, stretch, distortion, kinks, nicks or other signs of damage. 4. Lubricate all moving parts regularly we recommend to use spray lithium grease. 5. Check tension and release function is working satisfactory before use. Inspect ratcheting gears for wear or damage. Check release plate for signs of wear and functioning properly. Lubricate between ratchet gears,main shaft pin,ratchet pawls and springs. with spray lithium grease Check springs are free from corrosion,damage and functioning properly. Check main shaft pin for wear and roll pin for damage. Check ratchet pawls for wear or any signs of damage. Inspect chain and fittings for wear,stretch,gouges,twist or bent links.ensure grab hook clevis pin and split pins are in sound condition. Ausbinder S2 Instruction Page 10 8/31/2010

11 STEP.9 Parts & Warning WARNING! NEVER EXCEED THE LASHING CAPACITY OF AUSBINDER AND ENSURE CORRECT LASHING S ARE CONSISTANT TO THE CARGO LOAD. NEVER USE AUSBINDER FOR LIFTING PURPOSES OR ANY OTHER UNAUTHORIZED OPPERATION. DO NOT USE PIPES, EXTENSION BARS OR CHEATER BARS ON AUSBINBER HANDLE. DO NOT USE AUSBINDER IF SHOW SIGNS OF FLAWS OR DAMAGED IN ANYWAY. DO NOT USE AUSBINDER TO SECURE REAR LOWLOADER RAMPS OR TAILGATES. ALWAYS STOW HANDLE UPRIGHT WHEN NOT USING THE AUSBINDER.
