6 EP-1 PUMP CONTROLLERS The EP-1 is available without a timer, or with three different integrated timer options. The timers are extremely rugged and waterproof. Designed for rugged operating conditions the timers are 10vdc to 60vdc rated and are extremely resistant to vibration and water entry. EP-tronic is the full function controller with four plugs for low level switch, high pressure switch and divider proximity switch and collective error output. The EP-tronic is fully configurable via Beka Disys software on a laptop PC and also includes data logging of all errors, alarms and changes to settings. These error events can be downloaded as required. The EP-tronic is ideal for hire machines. Beka Disys Beka Disys software allows the settings parameters of the Beka tronix1 and EP-tronic controllers to be changed according to the lubrication requirements. This gives the controllers a lot more flexibility so that the smallest or the largest jobs are able to be catered for. The Disys software also gives the ability to read the operational data stored in the EP-tronic controller data logger. GIGA construction and materials are similar to the EP-1 the body is die cast aluminium. The reservoir is UV polycarbonate. The core of a progressive system is the divider valve which accurately measures and dispenses lubricant to each point. Lubricant cannot bypass a blocked point or take the path of least resistance. Each outlet must deliver its measured quantity in turn (progressively) for the next outlet to be activated. A blockage in the system is automatically detected by the pressure rise it causes. Proximity switches and performance indicators can be installed to provide monitoring of lubricant flow in the system. 15 BEKA HAMAX2 AUTOMATIC HAMMER LUBE SYSTEMS Hydraulic Hammers (rock breakers) need constant greasing to lubricate and clear debris from the tool bushing area. Typically, greasing the tool and bushing must be performed at startup and after every one or two hours. If not lubricated sufficiently frequently, expensive tool and bushing wear occurs. The Hamax2 mounts directly on the hammer and provides a rugged and reliable grease supply to protect the hammer whenever it operates. The Hammer hydraulic system provides the power for the HAMAX2 pump to deliver a small volume of chisel paste into the bush continuously during hammer operation. HAMAX2 tees into the main hydraulic pressure and return lines and operates each time the hammer is used. A flow control valve allows for grease volume adjustment for different size hammers. 16 BEKA-MAX IN ACTION - TRANSPORT Road transport today is extremely competitive with trucks commonly travelling 6,000km to 7,000km per week or more. Finding time to do essential maintenance is becoming increasingly difficult and labour is expensive. The Beka-Max grease system greases key components every hour, automatically, while the truck is driving. 17 BEKA-MAX - AGRICULTURE AROUND THE CLOCK Agriculture today is a 24 hour a day business. A huge investment in seeders, sprayers, harvesters and other machines is required to be competitive and to get the crops planted and harvested at the optimum times. Beka-Max automatic greasing systems play an important role. Many agricultural machines have 50 to 100 grease points and work in very dusty, wet, rough conditions. Often there is tremendous time pressure to get the work done and doesn t allow for unproductive downtime. Automatic Greasing Systems The Beka Max automatic greasing system allows important maintenance work to be done while the machine is working. Additionally, working in such harsh conditions, contamination is a major problem and bearings block and pins fail quickly if contamination entry is not controlled. By supplying fresh #2 grade grease to the bearings every half hour or hour, a protective barrier around all the pins is maintained to stop soil, dust and water getting in and eventually causing failures. Farmers can sew and harvest around the clock knowing that their machines vital pins and bushes are being cared for as they work. Breakdowns are reduced and crops are grown and harvested more efficiently. 17

18 FLUILUB ONBOARD WHEEL FLANGE LUBRICATION Huge savings in wheel and rail wear can be made by efficient lubrication of the wheel flange/rail contact point. The Beka FLUILUB system is a unique rail wheel flange lubrication system which travels with the locomotive and applies lubricant throughout the working life of the loco, controlled by a timer or by a sophisticated combination of gyroscopic sensor and timer to apply more lubricant during curves (Curve Control). Depending on the programming, the air supply s solenoid valve opens for a set period or distance for a certain spray duration. This means that the piston pump conveys a precisely set quantity of lubricant ( cm / stroke) into the spray air current. The material is conveyed by the air current as described above. The exact distribution and sub-distribution of the lubricant volume to several spray points is effected by the new type of FLUILUB distributor. A nozzle is located at the end of the pipe. The lubricant is atomised and continuously sprayed on to the wheel flange. Because the wheel makes several revolutions during this time, the wheel flange is moistened slightly. A very thin highly adhesive film of lubrication is created, which cannot be thrown off even at very high wheel speeds in excess of 250 kph. Subsequently, the lubricant is transferred to the following wheel sets through contact with the rail flanks. Particularly in conjunction with modern wheel flange lubricants possessing a high proportion of solids, a constant lubrication at low dosage can be maintained over a long period, even in the event of extreme pressure and temperatures. This has been demonstrated in many practical applications and different tests.

19 BEKA-MAX IN ACTION - QUARRY & CONSTRUCTION Wheel loaders, excavators and other machines in the quarry and contruction sector work hard and long hours in arduous conditions. They need frequent greasing to keep running smoothly and to stop contaminants such as dirt, sand, dust or water from entering bearings and causing wear on pins and bushes. Beka-Max lubrication systems grease key points every 30 minutes ensuring that machines are properly greased and that damaging contamination is constantly flushed out of pins and bushes. The Beka-Max progressive system ensures that points cannot block without you knowing, and for hire machines, the optional EP-tronic controller offers full flow monitoring and data logging of all system operations and faults. Construction Machines Managing the time and resources to properly maintain contruction machines can be very difficult and expensive. Machines working in aggressive environments need greasing at least once or twice every day. Often, production, safety and access issues make this essential maintenance task both costly and disruptive. Lost production time and labour costs quickly add-up and additionally, when a machine is stopped for greasing, other processes around it often also have to stop - such as wheel loaders loading trucks. Also if critical production machines suffer downtime due to bearing failure, the costs of replacing the machine with a machine from somewhere else in the operation, or a temporary hire machine, can be very high. The compact high performance Beka-Max systems are ideal for hire companies. Machines are greased on a 30 minute basis so wear and tear on pins and bushes is minimised. For dry hire applications the EP-tronic controller can be wired into the machine telementry system so that faults can be instantly communicated to hire company personnel. 26 BEKA-MAX IN ACTION - WASTE MANAGEMENT Waste management vehicles, both domestic and industrial work extremely hard. The chassis carries heavy loads under arduous stop/start conditions and the trucks work long hours. Maintenance time is precious and keeping up with performing planned maintenance of a large fleet is made much more difficult when hand greasing and repairing worn components is constantly interrupting schedules. 27 CONVEYOR & FIXED PLANT LUBRICATION SYSTEMS Automatic lubrication systems can assist greatly in increasing plant reliability and reducing the amount of labour tied up in routine maintenance. At one Queensland coal mine Alemlube was asked to design automatic greasing systems which would ensure that all conveyor grease points were automatically greased and that the labyrinths were kept topped up several times a day. Lubrication Solutions It was thought that bearing life could be greatly improved and that maintenance resources could then be redirected to other pressing tasks. Additionally, the automatic greasing system was to be completely remotely monitored and be able to detect blocked bearings and stiff bearings thus providing early warning of problem bearings and allowing corrective action on or before the next shutdown occurred. The systems were designed using progressive dividers which are the only way to accurately monitor lubricant volumes to large numbers of grease points. All drives, drive pulleys, bend pulleys and GTUs are connected to the systems. In addition, counterweight pulleys and winches are also included. 20kg pneumatic drum pumps were chosen to fit in with maintenance operations. Drums are renewed easily by hand as required. Great care was taken to exclude coal dust from the systems and to that end, all systems are housed in custom built stainless steel sheds which are internally pressurised by the pump exhaust, keeping all dust out. The progressive divider circuits are designed to allow the systems to continue operating even when a bearing is blocked. The blockage is detected and an alarm is activated in the maintenance office. Locating the blocked bearing is a simple procedure. As a result of these systems, the conveyors operate more reliably now than ever, allowing record production to reach the stockpile. 27

39 WARRANTY POLICY Your Alemlube product is warranted to the original user against defects in workmanship or materials under normal use for a period of twenty four months* after purchase date unless stated otherwise. Any product which is determined to be defective in material and workmanship and returned to Alemlube P/L, shipping costs prepaid, will be repaired or replaced at Alemlube s option. This warranty also covers parts that are subject to wear such as O rings, packings, seals, springs, electronic and even electrical components. The warranty does not cover damage or failure which in the judgement of Alemlube arises from misuse, abrasion, corrosion, negligence, accidental damage, faulty installation or tampering. If Alemlube inspection discloses no defect in material or workmanship, repair or replacement and return will be made at customary charges. Alemlube has made a diligent effort to accurately illustrate and describe its product in all its literature. However, such illustrations and descriptions are not a warranty. The above express warranty is in lieu of and excludes all other warranties, express or implied, including, without limitation, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. The purchaser shall give written notice of any claim to Alemlube within ten days after discovery of any alleged defect. Alemlube shall not be liable for consequential damages, losses, delays, labour costs or any other expense directly or indirectly arising from use of the product, its liability being expressly limited to the replacement or repair of any defective product or an allowance of credit therefore.
