Installation and operation must comply with local regulations and accepted codes of good practice. 2. General description Sololift+ C-3 is a small, compact, automatic lifting station for domestic use. Sololift+ C-3 is used for pumping wastewater from places where it cannot be led directly to the sewer by means of a natural downward slope. 2.1 Applications Sololift+ C-3 is typically used for: cabinet showers, washbasins, bath tubs, washing machines and dishwashers in basements below sewer level and cabinet showers, washbasins, bath tubs, washing machines and dishwashers installed in connection with the renovation or modernisation of existing buildings, where the location may be remote from the main soil pipe so that a natural slope cannot be established. Sololift+ C-3 is suitable for installation under a washbasin or in a closet. 2.2 Pumped liquids Grey wastewater. Liquid temperature: Maximum 70 C for up to two minutes. Ordinary liquids for cleaning of the units connected. ph-value: Caution Sololift+ C-3 must not pump strong chemicals or solvents. Warning The use of this product requires experience with and knowledge of the product. Persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities must not use this product, unless they are under supervision or have been instructed in the use of the product by a person responsible for their safety. 7 3. Product description The Sololift+ C-3 tank is made of light plastic material with an easy-to-clean surface. Installed correctly, the Sololift+ C-3 is maintenance-free. Sololift+ C-3 has three connections. Sololift+ C-3 is equipped with a level switch for automatic start and stop of the pump. See start and stop levels in section 9. Technical data. 8 3.1 Accessories included The following parts are supplied with Sololift+ C-3 for the installation. The letters will be used when describing the installation. 9 4. Installation Carry out the installation according to local regulations and directives. ø23/ø32 Note All Sololift+ models must be accessible for maintenance and repair. Engineers will not be able to carry out service or repair of the unit without easy access. 4.1 Electrical installation The electrical installation must only be carried out by trained personnel. Connect Sololift+ C-3 to a voltage supply according to the nameplate. Fig. 5 Siphoning Application sketch ø40/ø50 TM The installation must include an earth leakage circuit breaker for protection against earth fault currents. This ensures protection when using a Schuko plug or another alternative to a plug with earth pin. Connect Sololift+ C-3 to a mains switch with a minimum contact gap of 3 mm in all poles. Cut the edges at right angles to the hole to ensure a good fastening of sleeve A. Remove rough edges. Fig. 4 Wiring diagram Motor protection In case of overtemperature, a thermal overload switch cuts out the motor and cuts it in when the motor has cooled sufficiently. 4.2 Mechanical installation Fit the floor fittings F to prevent uplift in case the room is flooded. Install Sololift+ C-3 with adequate access for maintenance Siphoning If the connection to the sewer is below the bottom of the lifting station, it is advisable to install a vent valve to prevent siphonage. If the last pipe section after a horizontal discharge pipe is vertical, it must be two sizes bigger than the horizontal pipe. If the horizontal pipe is 23, the vertical pipe should be 40. If the horizontal pipe is 32, the vertical pipe should be 50. See fig. 5. Fig. 7 Connection in top cover Secure sleeve A by means of the metal clip B. TM

10 4.4 Side connection Remove the union nut and the blanking plate. Fit the union nut and the gasket ring on the pipe. Insert the pipe end into the tank and tighten the union nut. Make sure that the entire circumference of the gasket is in the connection. Tighten the union nut to obtain tightness Connection of cabinet shower Caution Fit the inlet pipe from the cabinet shower to one of the side connections. It is advisable to install a strainer in the outlet grating of the cabinet shower for collection of hair Connection of washing machine Connect the discharge hose of the washing machine to the top cover. If side connections are used, use a vertical pipe with a larger inside diameter than the outside diameter of the discharge hose. Push the discharge hose into the vertical pipe to allow the discharge hose to breathe, and thus prevent it from acting as a siphon. Fig. 8 The top of the water trap of the cabinet shower must be at least 150 mm above the bottom of the Sololift+ C-3 tank. Connection of washing machine 4.5 Connection of discharge pipe The discharge pipe must be of a material suitable for grey wastewater and have an external diameter of 23, 25, 28 or 32 mm. The non-return valve in the tank prevents backflow from the discharge pipe. It is advisable to use a minimum 25 discharge pipe. Fit the discharge elbow C using clip B. Adapt the discharge pipe, if necessary, using reducer D. It is advisable to fit a drain plug at the bottom of the vertical pipe section for use in case of repair of the discharge pipe. TM Pipework Figure 9 shows the maximum length of vertical and horizontal discharge pipes. It is recommended that the first part of the discharge pipe is vertical. All horizontal pipes must have a fall: Discharge pipe: Minimum 1 %. Inlet pipes: Minimum 3 %. If the discharge pipe is more than 10 metres long, a pipe one size bigger must be used after 10 metres, for instance a 28 pipe for the first 10 metres and then m 3 m 2 m 1 m Fig. 9 Pipework The discharge pipe must be taken above the backflow level (i.e. main sewer level). The pipework from this point must be made with pipe sizes of at least Start-up max 10m 1. Check that the installation is correct. 2. Switch on the electricity supply. 3. Turn on the tap or shower and check that the pump starts and stops correctly. If the pump starts, Sololift+ C-3 is ready for use. If the pump does not start, see section 7. Fault finding chart. 4. 11 6. Maintenance Sololift+ C-3 is practically maintenance-free. However, regular use and cleaning will ensure faultless operation and a long operating life. To prevent unnecessary pumping, it should be checked that possible water taps are tight. Before starting work on the pump, make sure that the fuse has been removed, the plug has been pulled out of the socket or the electricity supply has been switched off. Make sure that the electricity supply cannot be accidentally switched on. All rotating parts must have stopped moving. Any repairs to the motor and electric components must only be performed by trained service personnel. Cleaning the Sololift+ C-3 Sololift+ C-3 is normally kept clean through regular use. For systems which are used rarely, occasional internal cleaning is recommended which is performed as follows: 1. Switch off the electricity supply. 2. Put detergent into the washbasin or cabinet shower, turn on the water and fill the Sololift+ C Let the detergent work for approx. five minutes. 4. Switch on the electricity supply and turn on the water until Sololift+ C-3 has pumped twice. Cleaning the cabinet shower and washbasin After cleaning the units connected, turn on the tap or shower until Sololift+ C-3 pumps. Periods of non-use If the Sololift+ C-3 is not going to be used for a long period, it is recommended to turn on the tap or shower until Sololift+ C-3 has pumped twice, and then turn off the water supply to all units connected. Frost protection It is advisable to make the lifting station frost-proof if there is a risk of frost, e.g. in a weekend cottage during the winter. Empty the tank, see Periods of non-use or add antifreeze. 11

Motor hums, but does not operate. 3. Motor operates continuously or at regular intervals. a) Electrical supply failure. Check electrical supply. b) Fuse blown. If new fuse blows at once, either cable or motor is faulty. c) Obstruction; thermal overload switch tripped. Replace fuse. Measure cable and motor. If cable or motor is defective, replace the lifting station. Remove obstruction and wait 3-5 minutes until thermal overload switch has reset. d) Level switch defective. Replace the lifting station. a) Impeller obstructed. Remove obstruction and check for free rotation. b) Motor/capacitor defective. Rattling noise from Sololift+, but waste is cleared. c) Discharge pipe work inserted too far into discharge elbow. d) Discharge pipe is too long or has an excessive number of bends. Reduce length of discharge pipe inserted into discharge elbow. Increase discharge pipe size (maximum 32 mm). Change pipework to reduce number of bends.
