1 EIB 97009; Denomination Conversion Engineering Information Bulletin EIB To: Distribution From: Engineering Date: 15 August 1997 Subject: Denomination Conversion Reference: None This EIB describes general procedures for denomination conversions. These procedures cover sigma slot models SG-32, SG- 50, PT-4, SG-150, SG-150, PT-4, and video models PT- 2, SG-112, and SG-112. This conversion includes altering the hopper, replacing candle (signal tower) filters, replacing denomination decals, denomination plexiglass, and reset denomination DIP switches, and/or replacing the denomination EPROM. all conversions require performing each procedure described in this kit. Verify all parts cataloged on the packing list are present. Identify the instruction procedures required to complete the conversion for the included parts before beginning. NOTE: The procedures described in this instruction set require mechanical aptitude and common sense. Overly simple or common sense steps maybe omitted (for example, opening the main door to access the hopper assembly). Only qualified technicians should attempt the procedures described in this kit. WARNING: Turn power off BEFORE attempting this conversion. Certain electrical components may contain residual electrical energy. Discharge body static electricity BEFORE touching PCBs to prevent damage to static sensitive parts. Denomination Plexiglass Upright Slot & Video Firmly grasp the denomination lamp snap socket. Rock sideto-side while pulling downward until the socket is free. Remove the plastic lamp shadow box and denomination plexiglass. Install the replacement denomination plexiglass. Hand tighten the mounting hardware. Verify correct denomination plexiglass alignment (as seen from the front of the door). Do not over tighten mounting hardware. Denomination Plexiglass Slant Top Locate and remove the denomination fluorescent lamp shadow box and denomination plexiglass. Install the replacement denomination plexiglass. Hand tighten the mounting hardware. Verify correct denomination plexiglass alignment (as seen from the top of the door). Do not over tighten mounting hardware. Decals Denomination Plexiglass Fluorescent Lamp Locate and remove denomination decals. Carefully clean decal area with an organic solvent (like isopropyl alcohol) to remove dirt and glue residue. Wipe dry with a lint free cloth. Remove the protective backing from replacement decal. Carefully apply from the center out, smoothing away air bubbles. Candle (Signal Tower) Remove the acorn nut from the top of the candle. Gently grasp the first tier, and slide it up and off the threaded rod. Repeat with second tier. Remove the colored filter inserts. Install replacement inserts. Replace candle body. The Candle Parts Table (page 5) lists available candle styles and filter colors South Amigo St. Las Vegas, NV of

2 Verify replacement parts cataloged on the packing list against the Parts Table (next page). Identify parts from the illustrations below. Remove parts for replacement. Install replacement parts. Perform a hopper diagnostic test (see your Operator Instructions Manual). 4 START CPU Denomination Settings All Except SG-150 & PT-4 Denomination settings are made by hard-wire jumpers on the solder side of the CPU PCB. ON switch posts are soldered closed, while OFF switch posts are left open. Switch posts, eight, nine, and ten at CPU PCB location SW1 determine slot denomination. Switch posts one, two, and three at CPU PCB location SW2 determine video denomination. Use the table below to determine the correct switch settings for a desired denomination setting. Entry Verify replacement parts cataloged on the packing list against the Entry Parts Table (next page). Identify parts from the illustrations below. Remove parts for replacement. Install replacement parts. Verify alignment of coin entry components to prevent coin jams. Turn off machine power. Using a EPROM removal tool, locate and remove the denomination EPROM. Insert the replacement denomination EPROM. Turn on machine power. The message RAM DATA IS WRONG TURN ON-OFF RESET SW displays on the VFD. Actuate the Reset Keyswitch. The machine performs a self test while initializing. Access the Software Settings menu to verify the denomination setting (see Verifying Machine Options, in your Operator Instructions Manual).
