All persons who operate the equipment must be trained in the safe, efficient operation of all system components as well as the proper handling of the spray unit. This compressed air powered unit will dispense RAC or ZTF liquid at pressures ranging from 3.4 to 7.6 bar (50 to 110 psi). 3. Must read and understand Safety Data Sheets before use. 4. During application of the product, misting can occur. Inhalation of such aerosols must be avoided. Use only with adequate ventilation when required. Wearing a disposable filtering half mask (EN 149, filter class FFP1 or higher in EU, or N95 particle respirator for North America) is required. Wear vented safety goggles or face shield for eye protection. Gloves for hand protection are recommended. (e.g. disposable latex gloves). Requirements: Chemical requirements: follow all instructions from product label of chemical manufacturer. 5. Avoid contact of product or applied coating/layer with skin and eyes. If contact occurs, consult Material Safety Data Sheet for further first aid measures. 6. Never point the discharge wand at any personnel. 7. After relieving the pressure from the unit, store the unit with the ball valve on the outside of the control box in the closed position. Avoid Equipment Damage 1. Only use clean, dry air. Air must be filtered and free of moisture or pump life will be diminished. If needed, install air dryer before air is supply to SI-RTU-ECO-E unit. 2. Do not locate an air lubricator on air line before air supply to the unit. 3. Be sure to flush the unit with 5 gallons (20 litres) of fresh water before storing unit, or when switching between RAC and ZTF 4. Do not exceed a fluid temperature of 104oF (40oC). 3 INITIAL SETUP Operator Orientation: All persons who operate the SI-RTU-ECO-E equipment (Figure 1) must be trained in the safe, efficient operation of all system components as well as the proper handling of RAC or ZTF. Consult the table of Operating Parameters and Fluid Delivery for settings and/or output ranges for the particular product. Work Area and Equipment: Ensure that you have an adequate compressed air supply. (Refer to table of Operating Parameters and Fluid Delivery for air pressure ranges). Inadequate air pressure will not yield optimum results because the pressure drop through the air hose leaves insufficient energy to properly atomize the viscous RAC or ZTF at the gun tip. Air Pressure Conversion Chart bar psi The pump air pressure gauge (Figure 4) is an adjustable screw gauge that controls air pressure to the pump and to the diaphragm. Note that once the gun is triggered there will be a 20% loss (or more) in air pressure through the line, with the drop proportional to hose length and the hose s inside diameter. Adjust the incoming pressure to be as high as possible. The suction hose and tube allow the small black diaphragm pump to draw fluid from the jerry can. A screw cap is fitted to the hose, minimizing the chance of spills when moving the two wheeled cart. The strainer at the end of the suction tube prevents large particles from entering the pump. The spray gun (Figure 2) dispenses the fluid. The gun houses the spray tip and air cap(figure 3) which are selected for rates of flow and spray patterns of the atomized RAC or ZTF. The spray gun includes a 0.5 or 1 meter (19.68 or inch) length extension and a 45 degree angle elbow to which the spray tip and air cap combination are housed. The red hose supplies fluid to the gun, while the green hose supplies the compressed air. Figure 1. SI-RTU-ECO-E: Complete unit Install an air line filter and a moisture trap and drain valve to help remove moisture and contaminants from the compressed air supply. Keep the site clear of any obstacles or debris that could interfere with the operator s movement. Bring a compressed air supply hose line from the air compressor to the SI-RTU- ECO-E unit location. Be sure all air hoses are free of cracks, and are properly sized, and pressure-rated for your system. The air hose should have a 3/8 npsm (10 mm) thread. A quick connect adapter fitting will be required on the incoming compressed air hose at the connection to the SI-RTU-ECO-E air inlet. Have an empty pail available for use when priming or flushing the system. A clean rag and a second container holding water is useful; may be used to wipe the depressurized gun tip to dissolve/remove any dried RAC or ZTF material after extended use. 4 Figure 4 Control Box Components OPERATIONS Diaphragm Pump to Move Fluid Incoming Air Pressure Gauge Air Control Needle Valve Compressed Air Inlet & Valve Fluid Control Needle Valve Prime the Pump and Adjust Flow Rate: See Figures 1 & 4 for reference to the following instructions. 1. Secure the container to the cart. Place the pump suction tube into the fluid supply container. 2. Ensure the air regulator valve at the wall or air supply source is OFF (closed). 3. Connect the quick connect air line hose to the air inlet at the side of the gray control box, ensuring that this inlet valve is OFF (perpendicular). 4. Turn ON (open) the air regulator valve on the wall to as high as possible. Turn the lever on the side of the box from OFF (perpendicular to inlet hose) to ON (parallel to inlet hose). 5. Open the (top black) AIR CONTROL needle valve near the incoming air pressure gauge. Adjust the air pressure via the blue knob on the gauge to the highest value it will attain. 6. Point the gun into an empty pail and depress the RED (fluid) button to open (ON). 7. Run the pump slowly until all air is pushed out and the pump and hose are fully primed with product. 8. Use the FLUID CONTROL needle valve to adjust the quantity of fluid that will be introduced to the gun as follows: ensure that this needle valve is fully CLOSED by turning it clockwise to the end. Then turn it in the counter clockwise direction between two and three FULL 360 degree revolutions open to adjust the proper amount. The RAC or ZTF liquid temperature will affect the viscosity and flow rate. 9. For RAC application ONLY: Recommended step for accuracy of RAC delivery: Measure fluid delivery with the aid of a graduated cup and a stopwatch: point the gun into the cup, depress the RED button full on and simultaneously activate the stop watch. Measure the volume of RAC released into the cup in 15 seconds and calculate the flow rate per minute. For example, a value of 110 ml in 15 seconds equals 440 ml/ minute. Preferred flow rate range is ml/ minute, but no higher than 470 ml/ minute. Adjust the needle valve accordingly. 10. For ZTF application ONLY: Recommended step for accuracy of ZTF delivery: Measure fluid delivery with the aid of a graduated cup and a stopwatch: point the gun into the cup, depress the RED button full on and simultaneously activate the stop watch. Measure the volume of ZTF released into the cup in 15 seconds and calculate the flow rate per minute. For Example, a value of 400 ml in 15 seconds equals 1600 ml/ minute. Preferred flow rate range is mL/minute, but no higher than 1650mL/ minute. Adjust the needle valve accordingly. Test the Spray Pattern: Once the fluid delivery has been established, leave the atomizing air ON so that the RAC or ZTF fluid can now be sprayed. Use the highest possible input air pressure from the table of Operating Parameters and Fluid Delivery to properly atomize the RAC or ZTF. Use two hands to hold the gun and extension at right angle to the target surface: a) about 35 centimetres (14 inches) away for RAC b) about 80 centimetres (31 inches) away for ZTF Press BLUE (air) button and hold open. Start spraying RAC or ZTF by pressing RED (fluid) button while moving the spray gun in a straight stroke; do not swing the gun in an arc. A static fan pattern of approximately 30 centimetres (12 inches) may be expected. Note For RAC application ONLY: Practice to find the best length and speed of stroke. A speed of about 0.5 metre/ second (~ 1.5 feet/ second) should provide sufficient coverage and give 6-10 microns of RAC coating after drying is complete. Initial pattern will appear speckled. Overlap the spray pattern Page 4 of

5 by no more than 10% over the previous stroke. Avoid the temptation to spray slowly or have excessive overlap of subsequent strokes. Some sagging on the vertical surfaces is natural and usually fills in light areas. On porous surfaces such as concrete, it is recommended to apply two coats, using a grid pattern (vertical and horizontal stroke). This will ensure a complete coverage of the surface. For good antimicrobial efficacy, it is critical that all surfaces are properly coated. Untreated areas may be difficult to identify, when the colorless coating is applied in poorly lit areas. However, a pocket lamp or torch can help solve this problem. RAC coated surfaces are shiny under the light of a lamp whereas uncoated surfaces look matte/dull. Pressure Relief Procedure: 1. Release the RED and BLUE buttons on the gun handle. 2. Release the pressure to the system by turning the lever on the side of the controls box to OFF (perpendicular). 3. Aim the gun to the middle of an empty pail, and depress the BLUE button to relieve air pressure from within the pump and hoses. Flow should stop immediately. 4. Relieve pressure after each use. MAINTENANCE Preventive Maintenance Schedule and Cleaning: To ensure that your sprayer operates properly, the system requires effective cleaning to prevent deposits inside the pump and to avoid plugging of the orifice or air cap on the end of the spray gun. Flush the pump: When changing RAC products, rinse with water first until the flushed water is no longer colored (not necessary if you are using another container of the same RAC or ZTF product). At the completion of the RAC or ZTF coating job where pump will be stored for subsequent use, flush with WATER only (preferably warm water), a volume of 20 litres (5 U.S. gallons) minimum. Maximum water temperature is 400C. When the RAC or ZTF has been pumped out of the sprayer and before RAC or ZTF fluid can dry out in a dormant pump (rare if room humidity is high). 1. Leave the tip and air cap on the gun. Some RAC or ZTF may be reclaimed by running the pump for approximately 30 seconds to purge ml of (reusable) RAC or ZTF. This volume reclaimed will depend on the length of hose used in the operation. 2. Place the suction tube in a container of clean potable WATER. 3. Aim the gun into a pail at a distance of 30 to 50 centimetres (12 to 15 inches). 4. Start the SI-RTU-ECO-E sprayer as per OPERATIONS, steps 1 to 9 or Depress the red and blue buttons on the gun to full open. 6. Flush the system until clear water flows from the gun, and the liquid collected is no longer sticky to the gloved fingers. 7. Release the triggered and BLUE buttons to shut off the gun. Relieve the pressure by shutting off the valve at the air supply source. 8. Spray Tip Maintenance: Carefully remove the spray tip and air cap from the spray gun. Take care not to lose the gasket that fits between the adaptor body and the fluid cap. Clean the air cap and spray tip separately in warm water. Hold the tip and cap up to a source of light. If the tip orifice or air ports on the air cap are not visually clear, clean with a cotton swab or tooth brush and water. Then reinstall them. Refer to Figure 3. Page 5 of
