5 Gas Operated Pumps For Bag-in-Box (Vacuum) Systems The SHURflo gas (CO 2 /air) driven diaphragm pump is designed for the dispensing of BIB syrups, wines, teas and juices. It utilises a technically proven twin chamber, positive displacement, straight through design to maximise performance by minimising pressure drop. The pump features automatic demand and automatic sold-out vacuum shut-off for ease of operation. The SHURflo gas pump is approved for use by all the leading soft drink manufacturers and is NSF and SK approved for water, beverages, (including alcohol, and non-alcoholic beverages.) 7 Positive Inlet Pressure (PIP) Gas Operated Pumps These pumps are designed for carbonated beer, and branded Beer-Ace. They are also ideal for pressurised premix systems. They are used to drive product from container to the dispense tap without increasing the top pressure above the minimum to hold the CO 2 in solution. Products then have a longer shelf life with less fobbing when the container empties. PIP pumps are also suitable for boosting mains water pressure on beverage dispense systems. 8 Brix Proportioning Pumps The Brix pump is a proportioning device which pumps two liquids (e.g. water and concentrate) in an exact ratio. The particular ratio is determined by the pump design, and is thereby maintained precisely, independent of system flow or pressure changes, with no need to regularly re adjust brix at the dispensing valve. The Brix pump operates on the incoming city mains water pressure, which then becomes part of the finished drink, eliminating the need for CO 2 or electric power. The Brix pump is ideally suited to premium juice applications, and incorporates a valve design suitable for use with syrups containing stringy pulp. 10 Electric Beverage Pumps The 8000 Series are high pressure, low flow, low power draw pumps ideally suited for beverage applications such as wine dispense, mains-fed carbonated water dispensers, portable cart water delivery, batch transfer of product etc. These pumps can be mounted in any position, are compact and available in a variety of configurations and voltages series pumps are also ideal for boosting water pressure. 14 System Accessories All the following accessories are intended to allow fine tuning of your dispense systems and to ensure the quality products you have chosen give you the optimum performance. Please consult your SHURflo technical advisor should you require more information on their use. Automatic Sold Out Switches The Automatic Electric Sold-Out Switch (SOS) senses the pressure drop caused by an empty Bag-In-Box and automatically shuts off the flow in the water lines to prevent the serving of unflavoured carbonated water. The SOS can only be used with electric solenoid operated dispensing valves. This feature is particularly useful for clear syrups where a supply-out condition cannot be visually detected. The SOS automatically resets itself with the installation of a new BIB. 15 System Accessories continued Reverse Flow Inhibitors The RFI prevents backflow and is for Brix pumps serving premix taps. It operates as a non-return valve. Reference Description Use with Packed as RFI 3/8 (10mm) Barb inlet & outlet Brix pumps Single Automatic Bag Selector Valves The Automatic Selector Valve (ASV) allows two or more Bag-in-Box containers to be connected in parallel to a single pump. When vacuum build up indicates the online box is empty, the ASV automatically switches over to the second box, eliminating the need to change boxes during peak business periods. New boxes can then be hooked up at a suitable time to ensure continuous supply. Further benefits of the ASV are with clear syrups where it gives operators the opportunity to keep a constant supply of syrup thereby avoiding dispensing a spoiled drink. 16 System Accessories continued Vacuum Regulator A Vacuum Regulator used on the product inlet side within 18 (0.5 metre) of the Brix pump permits the pumping of product from remote storage locations to the pump. Please consult your SHURflo technical advisor for specific system recommendations. Proper system maintenance is essential to assure peak performance of all dispensing equipment, the 3-way valve can be installed so that dispense heads can be flushed without the need to clean the complete system. 21 Midi Water Boost System The SHURflo Midi Water Boost System consists of a SHURflo 8000 Series electric pump coupled to a 7.5 litre Accumulator and associated brass fittings. The system is capable of serving two high flow soft drink valves simultaneously while providing enough residual capacity for other back-room appliances. The SHURflo Water Boost System can be wall or shelf mounted and is plumbed inline before all appliances. The pump increases city water pressure and flow to the accumulator. The accumulator holds 3.7 litres of water under pressure with a tank pre-charge of 2.75 bar. Total capacity of the tank, air and liquid is 7.5 litres.
