Problem When the machine has finished printing\copying the fuser continues to rotate due to the induction heating system. If it didn t rotate for a period of time the heating roller Ni layer would end up with irregular properties. Because this happens any noise can be detected by the customer when the machine has finished printing. Action The noises are generated when a nylon roller is rotating on a metal shaft and there is no lubricant. So the information below details all the areas that have been identified by engineers in the field that can cause squeaking. It is important to strip, clean and lubricate all the items detailed below in order to prevent a re-call. This should take no longer than 30 mins. 2 The following lubricant is recommended to be used for all areas deatailed in this guide, It is advised that no other lubricant is to be used in the fusing unit! Part Number is : 9960PA0P dry surf lubricant each Dry surf is applied as a liquid, but after a short time the alcohol component evaporates and leaves a dry lubricant coating. Carefully drip the liquid on all items detailed, taking care to coat all areas. The liquid should be shaken before use as the 2 parts can separate if left stationary for a long period.

3 1:Remove the fuser and right hand end panel. Remove idler gear plate assembly. Apply grease to all idler gear shafts as shown. One in blue is behind plate 2: Machines with new type fusing units will need grease applying to the nylon cam and shaft area Apply the same to the old type fuser. Be careful NOT to apply the grease to the sponge washer

4 3:Remove cover (1 screw) and apply lubricant to the cleaner roller shaft holders and tension springs 4:Drop down the right hand door and remove the upper half of the exit guide assembly

5 4:cont Remove the shaft/clean and apply lubricant. Apply lubricant to the idler gear and also the shaft where the blue support is in contact with it. (Blue support is only on the C451/C550/C650)

6 5:Remove the cover to the exit drive assembly and remove the drive unit (3 screws & belt) Apply lubricant to idler gear shafts and bushes. Check for excess play of gear (blue arrow) on shaft and replace if necessary

7 6: Apply lubricant to exit unit drive shaft/bushing and check for wear/play. You will need to apply it also from the motor side. This can be accessed when the panels are removed (see section 8) 7:Remove the roller rotation sensor assembly. Apply lubricant to the shaft/spring area. Rotation senson Assy.

8 8:Remove side panels x 2 to reveal fuser drive. Spin the fuser drive input gear and check for noise from dry idler shafts (more apparent on older models). Apply lubricant to shafts x 2 (can be awkward to get to rear one). It is important to complete all areas detailed as a squeak can be intermittent and can be generated from more than one location.
