Select the coupling type 2. Select the driven machine service factor S FA from table 1 and for the driving machine S FD from table 2. The summation of the service factors S FA and S FD are S F. 3

4 3. Calculate the selection torque by the formula: T KNerf (): minimum required selection torque P AN (KW): nominal input power at operation speed n An (1/min): operating speed 4. The coupling selected must have an equal or greater rated torque capability than the selection torque calculated in step 3. Check the peak or starting torque capability of the selected coupling. For system where frequently utilized the peak torque of the power source, verify that magnitude of the peak torque does not exceed the rated nominal torque of the selected coupling. The nominal torque mentioned in the catalogs refer to a hub with cylindrical bore and key-way. For other shaft hub joint, please contact us. 5. Check the maximum hub bores, speed, so as to ensure if it could transmit required torque. 6. Check if the axial, angular and radial misalignment meets the permissible value in this book. The permissible vale of the axial misalignment and torque are obtained by the angular misalignment of figure 1 and figure 2. It is suggested to make the misalignment within 20% of the permissible misalignment. 4
