17 17 ASHLAND TECHNOLOGY ROBOTIC WELDING Many of the parts found on an Ashland scraper are built using our in-house robots. With unparalleled precision, maximum reliability and predictability the robot ensures that every weld is consistent and meets or exceeds tolerances and standards. Increased weld quality and strength help ensure that your Ashland scraper works harder and stays in service longer. SIMULATION AND TORTURE TESTING We break it before you buy it. Ashland engineers utilize cutting edge motion simulation software to optimize product design before a model makes it to the manufacturing floor. Every assembly undergoes scrutiny through comprehensive fatigue and structural analysis. Each part is then optimized to withstand maximum loading cycles and product life. CYLINDERS Most Ashland cylinders start with friction welding to create an airtight, 100% full-surface weld that is 4x stronger than previous cylinder rods. The barrels are manufactured using a Skive process for a geometrically true round bore. Next, end caps are welded using a submerged arc process to ensure strong, sound welds with deep penetration and adherence. Finally, every cylinder is tested to a minimum 6000 psi operating pressure at up to 40 gpm. Dye based hydraulic oil is cycled under UV light to detect the smallest of leaks. INDUSTRIAL GRADE PAINT Your jobsites can be brutal. That s why Ashland scrapers are protected by a 2-part urethane primer and 2-part urethane top coat that rivals that of big heavy equipment manufacturers. It provides excellent rust, chip and chemical resistance, as well as excellent gloss retention. Our paint has been tested for over 500 hours in salt and chemical sprays, diesel fuel and motor oil baths with no signs of corrosion or blistering occurring.
