5 Let s talk power... We, at Redmount, like to discuss motors, pumps, power-packs, etc. Why? Simply because we believe we have the best on the market. Soft start valve explained: The Bosch Rexroth power-pack is fitted with the ICME 2.2KW, 4 pole single phase motor. No centrifugal switch or starting capacitor is required. Less parts to fail. The 4.2cc pump is also fitted with a soft-start valve. This is the key to prolonging the life of your power-pack. When the Up button is pressed the soft start valve is open. The oil travels out of the reservoir, through the pump, and returns immediately back into the reservoir. No oil reaches the rams at this stage. As there is yet no load on the pump only a low current is required to turn the motor (motor torque is low). Motor Hydraulic Oil No oil flow to the Rams Once the oil flow rate increases to over 6 Litres per minute the soft start valve closes, and oil now begins to flow to the rams. All this takes less then a second or two from when the Up button is first depressed, but means that the motor has a chance to get to full speed before any meaningful load is put on the pump.
