STRuTS / FRAME SYSTEM When designing the current-generation Lazer Z, the goal wasn t simply to reduce parts. We also wanted to improve what we kept, like the deck struts. So they now use automotive-style, maintenance-free, greaseless bushings for longer life. unibody FRAME Our uni (as in one-piece) body frame. It s a classic case of less is more. Because fewer parts equal more strength. And more durability. So, in the interest of accuracy, the Lazer Z s unibody frame is actually a case of less is way more. HYDRO Drive SYSTEM UpgRADES While working on ways to improve the already robust Lazer Z drive system, our engineers actually devised a way to keep hoses from leaking. Eliminate them. However, being engineers, they did add a few things, like tougher bearings, an improved cooling system and increased oil capacity. FEWER Grease Points With just six grease points that only need annual greasing, the Lazer Z delivers maximum performance with minimum maintenance. Traction and HaNDling We improved both by improving balance. A well-balanced mower is more responsive, easier to operate and ultimately more productive. And, frankly, we know of no mower that s better balanced than the Lazer Z. That didn t happen by accident. It happened by designing a frame that lowers the machine s center of gravity for improved stability and handling. We continued by strategically locating parts, especially the heavier components, as low and near the center of the frame as possible. And last but not least, we even relocated the seat to use the operator s weight to improve traction. Rollover Protection-Plus First and foremost, the Lazer Z s Rollover Protection System (ROPS) is a safety feature. It s also a heavy component that elevates the center of gravity. To help counteract that, we mounted the ROPS on the frame where it would improve balance while optimizing the Lazer Z s weight and profile. Its rearward-sloping design also helps divert low-hanging branches away from the operator. A Fuel System Designed to Do More Opportunities often present themselves in unusual ways. Take the redesign of the Lazer Z fuel system. We wanted to combine the two side tanks into one, with a single fill location for greater efficiency. This redesign also created the opportunity to locate the new tank under the seat. This places the weight of the fuel low and in the center of the machine, which improves overall balance. And handling. High-Performance, Vertical-Shaft Engine Engine performance is traditionally measured in horsepower and torque. To that, we d like to add position. Because, like its other heavier components, the Lazer Z s vertical shaft engine is positioned low in the frame to improve handling performance.
