2 Welcome Here at Just Kampers we are celebrating our 2th Birthday! When Kerry and I started Just Kampers on 1st September 1989, it was only supposed to be for a couple of months. Twenty five years later, it s grown into a family business with son Josh and daughter Megan also involved, along with a team of over 40 friendly expert staff. It had an astronomical mileage and had got to the stage where everything started to go wrong. When it broke down for the fourth time, and the same AA man came to my rescue, I decided enough was enough and got him to drop me off at Colbornes Van Centre so I could buy a new van. I bought a black with no rear window; I think it was a cancelled order that was going to be a private ambulance! I had a series of s from there on which included a 97 Friesian Green van, another black one in 99, a dark blue 9 van with over 20,000 miles on the clock that shuddered every time I unlocked it, and then my favourite one of all, The Sunny Bus. This was a 2002 Caravelle in Sari Yellow with a dark blue interior which was again supplied by Colbornes. As a family we travelled for a month around Europe in the summer of 2003 in the Sunny Bus. I have many fond memories of it and often wonder where it is today. Having had so many s myself, I have made sure Just Kampers carries the largest parts range to help you keep your in tip-top order. This was a completely new model which incorporated modern ideas, many taken from the Golf and Passat range. It was a complete departure from the previous Transporters as it was front engined, front wheel drive and had a monocoque construction. Volkswagen had been working on the idea of moving to a front engined format since the late Seventies. The predecessor to the, the T3 or T2 as it was known in the U.K. was the first Transporter to be offered with water-cooled petrol or diesel engines, but these were rear mounted. As with Transporters from 196 onwards, the new was built at the dedicated Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle factory in Hanover, Germany.
