4 INTRODUCTION At Red Rooster we design and manufacture a range of tensile digital load cells and load shackles up to 500 tonne and compressive load cells up to 1500 tonne. The load cells can be supplied with various types of displays self indicating, cabled and telemetry indicating (wireless display). Options available include printer modules, large displays for cranes, PC interfaces and data logging to a spreadsheet with time and date. The Red Rooster range of ATEX / IECEx wireless load cells have been developed to meet the requirements of our customers in hazardous industries where explosive gases or dusts may be present, such as the offshore industry, engineering and chemical industries, or wherever accurate measurement is required in a hazardous area. Other types of load cells we offer include load pins, digital crane scales, hydrostatic crane scales and running line monitors. With our inhouse design and manufacturing we can offer special units, such as weighing systems, weigh platforms, torque cells and much more please contact us if you have a special requirement for a load measuring device. Our test rigs allow us to calibrate up to 400 tonne in Aberdeen / 50 tonne in West Bromwich. They are fully calibrated and UKAS (NAMAS) traceable. Our qualified technicians can repair and calibrate most other manufacturer s load cells at our works. After inspection, a report and quotation is issued to enable the customer to decide on the viability of the repair. Once authorised by the customer, the repair is dealt with promptly and efficiently, to ensure a speedy return. At Red Rooster, we also have a comprehensive range of load cells, load shackles, compression load cells and running line monitors available for hire, which are supplied fully calibrated and are available at short notice. 5 LOAD CELLS RRI-S RRI-C RRI-T RRI-S SERIES ( 5 tonne - 25 tonne ) Our RRI-S range of self-indicating load cells has been developed from our well proven SWL range to meet the ever increasing requirements of our customers. The cells range in capacity from 5 tonne to 25 tonne, and are manufactured from low weight, high strength duralloy. All load cells are proof loaded to 150% of the rated capacity and have a safety factor of 5:1 (minimum) and IP65 ingress protection. RRI-C SERIES ( 5 tonne tonne ) Our RRI-C range of cabled load cells has been developed from our well proven SWLD range to meet the ever increasing requirements of our customers. The cells are available across the full range in capacity from 5 tonne to 500 tonne, and are manufactured from low weight, high strength duralloy. All load cells are proof loaded to 150% of the rated capacity and have a safety factor of 5:1 (minimum) and IP68 ingress protection. The ergonomically designed handset, with tactile switch membrane, allows one handed operation and is environmentally sealed against water and dust to IP65. An easily accessible battery compartment allows the three AA batteries to be changed quickly. The cells range in capacity from 5 tonne to 500 tonne, and are manufactured from low weight, high strength duralloy. 13 ATEX / IECEx WIRELESS LOAD CELL RRI-T-ATEX The Red Rooster range of ATEX / IECEx wireless load cells have been developed to meet the requirements of our customers in hazardous industries where explosive gases or dusts may be present, such as the offshore industry, engineering and chemical industries, or wherever accurate measurement is required in a hazardous area. Working with Sira Certification we have developed a range of load cells from 5 to 500 Tonne with ATEX and IECEx certification for use in Zones 1 & 2. The testing and audits were in accordance with Directive 2014/34/ EU and the IECEx Scheme rules for equipment with Intrinsic Safety protection. With ATEX certification being accepted throughout Europe and the IECEx certification is accepted in most other parts of the world, the range of wireless load cells can be used for force measurement, load monitoring and weighing across the world. MARKINGS ATEX - Ex II 2 GD IECEx - Ex ib IIC T4 Gb Ex ib IIIC T135 C Db ZONES Gas Zones 1 & 2 Dust Zones 21 & 22 The RRI-T-ATEX load cells are manufactured from a high strength low weight Duralloy with a factor of safety of 7:1 on the smaller cells and 5:1 on the larger cells with all being proof loaded to 150% of the rated capacity. Our Wireless Load Cells come fully certified for use in hazardous areas, are environmentally sealed, come with advanced technology and are easy to operate. See the product data sheet for a full specification. The handset is easily operated with one hand with a tactile switch membrane and is sealed to IP67. The easily accessible battery compartments in the hand set and the load link allows the Energiser L91 Lithium AA batteries to be easily changed in a safe area. 13

17 LOAD SHACKLES RR-SC RR-ST RR-SM RR-SC / RR-ST SERIES Produced in capacities from 25 tonne to 500 tonne. The shackle body is manufactured from galvanised alloy steel. The shackle pin (nickel steel up to 35 tonne, alloy steel on larger capacities) is retained in the shackle body by means of a nut and split pin, and an anti-rotation device is incorporated in the pin to ensure correct alignment. The pin itself is through bored and strain gauges are internally resin bonded at both shear planes. A close fitting tapered steel bobbin is included to ensure that the load is applied through the midline of the shackle pin. Load cell shackles are available in both cabled (RR-SC) and radio telemetry (RR-ST) versions. Up to 50 tonne capacity accuracy is better than 0.5% F.S.D. over 50 tonne accuracy is better that 1.0% F.S.D. RR-SM SERIES Produced in capacities from 50 tonne to 500 tonne. The shackle body is manufactured of galvanised alloy steel. The shackle pin is made from stainless steel and is retained in the shackle body by means of a nut and split pin. 24 RUNNING LINE MONITOR RLM RLM Produced to accept cable diameters from 13mm to 88mm, the Red Rooster RLM system electronically monitors the load on a running line (winch, crane, etc.) and is displayed digitally. It can optionally monitor the length of the line out and speed (including direction) in any engineering units. The TEO crane scale uses proven technology (hydrostatic, bourdon tube) and incorporates it in to a simple, functional and reliable weighing device. Current health and safety legislation requires companies to have knowledge of the loads being handled regardless of the industry. 28 REPAIR AND CALIBRATION LOAD CELL REPAIR Our team of electronic technicians have a vast knowledge of manufacturing Red Rooster load measuring equipment and the repair of other manufacturer's equipment. From standard units to the most complex weighing systems we can trace the defective component before repair and calibration. CALIBRATION We can calibrate up to 400 tonne in tension and up to 100 tonne in compression using our in-house calibration machines. All our calibration equipment is checked annually and is calibrated in accordance with BS :2004. CERTIFICATION Along with the calibration certificate you will also get a 'Certificate of Thorough Examination' as a load cell is seen as a piece of lifting gear by LEEA. 28
