3 Who are UK Carline? We have been leasing cars for over 16 years, and between us have over 150 years experience in the automotive industry. Our goal is to be your first choice for car and commercial vehicle leasing, and to exceed your expectations for service, quality, and value. We like to build trust, understanding, and strong relationships not only with our customers, but with our funders, partners, suppliers, and manufacturers. Why Should I Lease? 1. No major upfront costs. There is no need for a major outlay to acquire your new vehicle. A small initial rental is usually all that is required. This is usually equal to 3 or 6 times the monthly rental. The majority of capital asset acquisitions are for one of two business purposes: to gain the use of the item leased or to save money. Small upfront costrs with a lease means the business can obtain the vehicle and then experience the benefits of use in order to gain additional profits to fund future leases. 2. Fixed outgoings All of our leases are on a fixed interest basis, and will remain constant irrespective of what happens to bank base rates, which enables you to maintain accurate budgeting. 3. Tax deductible All of the rentals paid under a lease agreement are treated as an operating cost, and therefore can reduce the taxable profit on the business by as much as 100% of the total rental payable. 4. Alternative funding source In using a lease to acquire a vehicle, customers protect their other lines of credit, such as loans or overdraft facilities and conserve any available capital, thereby matching the funding to the working life environment. 5. Ability to have the best product available The cheapest option is rarely the best option in the long term. With business equipment it is often imperative that the very best machine with the latest technology is obtained by the client. This often applies with company vehicles. In using leasing rather than outright purchase, it is easier to rationalise the more expensive product than the quick fix. 6. Reduced administration On a fully maintained lease, there is an option for fixed-cost funder maintenance - which pays for all servicing, parts, labour etc. for the duration of your contract. 7. No disposal worries Whether you are leasing personally or through the business, this is a worry we can eliminate. All the residual risk is taken by the funder. There would be charges if there is damage over and above fair wear and tear or if the mileage allowance is exceeded. These costs are all controlled and monitored to ensure the individual or business is protected from over charging. 2

4 Benefit in Kind Benefits in Kind (BIK) are benefits which directors or employees recieve from employment which are not included in their salary or wages. Sometimes these are also called perks or fringe benefits. A company car is seen as a major perk by the Taxman, and as soon as you use it for a personal reason (including commuting), it is viewed as a taxable payment. 5 Carbon Offset Scheme Ever since 2009, we have offered clients the chance to lease vehicles on a green leasing, green driving or carbon neutral basis. We have calculated the CO2 output that our cars or vans will produce during the period of the contract, and by investing in ethical and credible carbon reduction projects around the world we will offset the carbon produced. This is a bold statement, not only of our commitment to the environment, but also as a commitment to our customers to help them achieve their own specific carbon neutral or reduction targets. What is Carbon Offsetting? You or your business every day actions consume energy and produce carbon emissions: driving, flying, heating your building(s) etc. Carbon offsetting compensates for your emissions by funding essential renewable energy, forestry and resource conservation projects around the world which generate reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. Why Should I Carbon Offset? Many companies are looking for ways to reduce their CO2 emissions as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, and fleets running on petrol and diesel can produce upwards of 20% of a company s total CO2 output. Running a greener fleet not only reduces your carbon footprint, but when tendering for new business gives reassurance that you are committed to both your Corporate Social Responsibility and the environment. Many companies support and give preference to suppliers, contractors, and partners who are able to demonstrate their commitment with a recognisable carbon reduction scheme, especially those certified by a third party. For many businesses and private individuals, internally reducing carbon emissions can have a negative impact on performance, or can carry a heavy financial burden: a carbon offset programme can deliver greater returns, enabling businesses to meet reduction targets quickly and compensate for environmental impact. How Can I Carbon Offset? Just ask our team. When you enquire, tell your account manager you are interested in our carbon offset scheme and they will build the funding into your lease deal. 19 Choosing the Right Van Choosing the right van for the right job is key, but with so many different options available it can be a challenging task. Choosing the wrong vehicle can have a negative effect, for example choosing a van that s too small could impact vehicle and driver performance - the vehicle could be overloaded, or the driver could have to make too many trips. Choosing a vehicle that s to big can have a direct impact on the cost of your operation - larger vehicles are more expensive and less economical. It s important that you have a good idea of what you want the vehicle to do and what you re going to be carrying. Our team of experts recommend the following: How do you calculate load length? Consider the following: Quantity of cargo Size of cargo Load Length What is the largest thing you re going to be transporting? E.g. a Euro pallet is 1200mm x 800mm. How often is the largest thing going to be transported? Is it only required once a week, so could be more cost effective to be delivered by courier? How do you calculate load height? Consider the following: Load Height How an operator is expected to interact with the vehicle Where the vehicle is expected to operate The size & quantity of the cargo Does the operator need to carry out work within the vehicle? The internal height should allow the operator to work comfortably for a long time. Is roof access required? Will the vehicle be likely to operate in areas with height restrictions? 20 Payload As a van operator, it s essential you are aware of the vehicle s maximum weight limits. It can be a confusing area, with some people mistaking the gross vehicle weight for how much the vehicle can carry. The gross vehicle weight is the maximum total weight of the vehicle: which includes driver, any passengers, fuel, the vehicle itself, and any cargo.
