2 Technology PowerGen Series Designed for rugged and remote operation, Qnergy s PowerGen Series Remote Power Generator provides reliable electrical power supply to the most demanding and mission-critical loads. Based on Qnergy s no-maintenance and highly reliable PCK series Stirling engines, the generator package can work seamlessly with a variety of fuel supplies, including: natural gas, propane, ethane, biogas, and multiple associated gas streams. By means of its flexible and modular design, this generator package can be tailored to provide a broad range of power output architectures (AC & DC) to meet the electrical requirements of each specific site load. Assembled using lean manufacturing processes, the PowerGen is built to meet strict quality standards. The integrated components and controls are all designed to maximize the customer s ability to control and monitor their power-generation asset while minimizing servicing of any kind. How It Works? Qnergy s Free-Piston Stirling Engine (FPSE) generator can transform virtually any heat source into electricity. Once heat is applied to the FPSE the heat exchangers maintain a temperature differential across the engine causing the helium to shuttle back-and-forth inside the engine, expanding and contracting. The oscillating helium drives the linear reciprocating motion of the piston, which by means of an integral linear alternator, directly converts the reciprocating motion of the piston into electrical power. The Qnergy engine has fewer moving parts than traditional kinematic Stirling engines, and no direct-contact points that cause wear and require lubrication. The Qnergy engine is truly a maintenance-free technology that offers long-life performance, two key features that make it an ideal power source. 2

3 Applications Railroads Oil & Gas Telecom Diesel/gas generators are widely used for power generation for oil & gas, telecom and railroad wayside applications due to their high power, mass market availability and low initial cost. What s often overlooked is the on-going maintenance needs and associated expenses to keep diesel/gas generators operational. You have to change the oil every few hundred hours, rebuild the engine or even replace the generator entirely after just a few years. Diesel/gas generators can have much higher operational costs over the life of the system compared to Qnergy s PowerGen Stirling Engines Railroads Qnergy s PowerGen solution can provide continuous prime and/or backup power for railroad wayside signaling and communications applications and is particularly well-suited for mid-to-high power wayside applications like control points and telecom base stations, among others. The PowerGen can also be easily integrated into new or existing solar/wind systems to improve overall system reliability. Oil & Gas Qnergy s PowerGen solution can provide continuous prime and/or backup power for the demanding requirements of oil & gas upstream, midstream and downstream applications with remote power needs. The PowerGen can power remotely located equipment at the wellhead, SCADA equipment, remote telemetry and monitoring (RTU) systems, cathodic protection, and much more! Telecom Qnergy s PowerGen solution can provide continuous prime and/or backup power for remotely located telecommunication sites in lieu of inefficient diesel/gas generators including base transmission stations, microwave repeater sites, VSATS, telephone exchanges, critical network infrastructure and much more! 3
