3 Page 3 of Introduction The management of the Sentinel 5P power bus is ensured by the PCDU which interconnects the Solar array and the Battery to a central point called STAR POINT This document is based on the AS250 PCDU specification [AD-04] and defines the modifications which shall be considered for Sentinel 5 Precursor. 2.2 Scope The present specification only provides the differences from the AS250 PCDU specification [AD-04]. Three cases are considered: when AS250 PCDU requirements are applicable, they are not repeated within this specification. when a requirement or complete section of the AS250 specification are not applicable, they are declared as Not Applicable. [777] when a requirement of the AS250 specification is modified (customised), they are identified by a specific requirement number and associated to the original AS250 requirement number as explained below. 2.3 Guidelines [778] The Doors requirement Number is presented under the following format -PCDU-yyy/ /a,b/ where: yyy is the requirement number from the original requirement in the AS250 PCDU specification [AD-04] (if any), a,b are the intended verification methods. 3 APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS [779] [AD-04] DIV-SP T-ASTR (Issue3 September 2010) AS250 Generic Power Conditioning and Distribution Unit (PCDU) Requirement Specification 4.1 General description [25] The Power Conditioning and Distribution Unit (PCDU) is in charge of the following activities: conditioning of primary power source from SA and battery, Battery charge control by hardware control loop implementation of the power distribution star point and filtering, distribution of protected and unregulated voltage outlets towards users. Voltage range between 26V and 33.6V during nominal operational mode and between 22V and 33.6V during acquisition and safe modes. distribution of switched, protected and unregulated power lines towards heaters Bus undervoltage protection Battery connection/disconnection to the primary bus Battery modules coupling actuation of release initiators On-ground operability communication with the on-board computer interfacing a redunded MIL-Std-1553 bus [6] [774] [775] [776]
