Without Export equipment, excluding sea transport. Dry and temperate premises, the storage limit is determined by the internal components. The corrosion protection is guaranteed by a heat sealing wrapping, resistant to considerable difference in temperature and the addition of dessicant bags. The number of these bags is calculated by the subcontractor and depends on the storage time. Sea transport or equipment with prolonged storage. Outside, a maximum of 6 months, except for specific request.

6 UPS/INF LI/PDSUPS - page 5/ Battery packing Batteries are delivered on pallets, in box-pallets or mounted in cabinets. DO NOT pile pallets. Avoid striking battery cells and connection terminals. 4. BATTERY STORAGE CONDITIONS 4.1. Lead batteries The storage time is included in the lifetime of the batteries, except for charged dry batteries. If the required storage time exceeds the time limit specified in table 5.4., seek advice from the battery or the UPS manufacturer Nickel Cadnium batteries The storage time has no effect on the lifetime of the batteries. NOTE : Ask the supplier about the deadline making a recharge of the stored batteries necessary. 5. PRECAUTIONS TO TAKE WHEN RECHARGING STORED BATTERIES 5.1. Gas recombination batteries When reaching the storage time limits specified in table 5.4., it is necessary to recharge the batteries. Follow the instructions of the manufacturer (for example, 96 hours under 2,3V/cell). Perform this operation on homogeneous batches with identical storage conditions (time, temperature...). In the event of a prolonged storage, it is advisable to discharge a battery that has just been recharged before charging it once again Open lead batteries Important! When recharging an open lead battery, the density of the electrolyte has to be equal to the density specified by the manufacturer Nickel-Cadmium batteries For a storage exceeding one year and if the cells are delivered void of electrolyte, keep them as they are ; if not, you may also keep them as they are, but it is preferable to remove the electrolyte.

8 UPS/INF LI/PDSUPS - page 7/31 6. GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR INSTALLATION 6.1. Premises The UPS must be placed in a clean and dust-free room (a dust preventing paint covering is required in a cement room). It must be large enough, dry, free of flammable vapour or corrosive smoke. The ventilation should be sufficient to ensure a constant temperature to the UPS and to the batteries. The recommended ambient temperature is between 15 C and 25 C Location of the cabinets To ensure the proper ventilation, do always leave a clear distance of minimum : - 0,15 m between the right side of the UPS and the wall - 0,15 m between the rear side of the cabinet and the wall - 0,40 m between the top of the cabinet and the ceiling of the room - 1 m. clearance ahead of the cabinet. The whole system is designed to be installed on a flat floor -fixed with pegs- or on HALFEN bars (installation principle on request). 0,15m 0,4 m FRONT FACE 0,15m 1 m Min. Installation on a false floor 6.3. Installation on a false floor : - make sure that the floor will support the weight of the inverters and the batteries, - inject fresh air under the cabinets, - provide cut-outs to inject air behind the cabinets. Dimensions of the cut-outs : - length of inverter cabinet - width : 0,15 m minimum 0,10m FRONT FACE FRESH AI FLOW

9 UPS/INF LI/PDSUPS - page 8/ 'Back-to-back' installation (with air guide for UPS 250 to 400 kva) UPS can be placed back-to-back. If so, leave a clear distance of 300 mm to ensure the proper ventilation of the cabinet. Regarding UPS from 250 to 400kVA, an air guide is necessary to prevent air recycling Front face UPS UPS Front face 6.5. Ventilation WRONG RIGHT WARM AIR WARM AIR COLD AIR COLD AIR 6.6. 10 UPS/INF LI/PDSUPS - page 9/ Assembling cabinets BETWEEN EACH OTHERS Use tensilock screws - supplied by the manufacturer - to assemble the different cabinets. These are 'welded structure-type cabinets', meeting all requirements as for electromagnetic compatibility. The tensilock screws bite into the paint and guarantee electric between the frame and the different cabinets. They also guarantee equipotential grounds. NOTE : if cabinets are placed at 0,15cm from the wall, assembling screws located on the rear are hardly accessible, the screw on the top of the rear panel will be the only one to be fixed. ON FALSE FLOOR Each cabinet has to be linked up to the metallic mesh network and connected by using short links : length 0,3 m max. and section 35 mm 2. Use braidings to connect all the metallic feet of the false floor and guarantee equipotential cabling. SEPARATE CABINETS Avoid spaces between cabinets. Connect the cabinets with each other by using a conductor with a section 35 mm 2 and not exceeding 20-meter length. An accessible and earthed metallic mesh network is a solution if every cabinet is connected to this network (see previous ).

11 UPS/INF LI/PDSUPS - page 10/31 UPS CABINETS AND 800kVA A 10 centimer-wide metallic cover for connections is used to assemble UPS cabinets of kva. Connections for direct commun busbar, 3 phases and neutral of inverter output, as well as the control system are located at the back of this cover Batteries cabinets ELECTRICAL SAFETY MECHANICAL SAFETY For safety reasons during transports and handlings, the built-in batteries are disconnected on every rack (or by sections not exceeding 150 V). Take all necessary precautions when reconnecting the cables. For built-in batteries, cabinet must be fixed to the ground to prevent it from falling over. The cabinet is fitted with pre-drilled feet. Dimensions are as follows : - diameter 13mm, - length 15mm General rules relating to the track of the cables Power cables Divide the power cables into strands, according to the different links : - mains input, - battery input, - common cabinet + each module - load output. Gather all poles of a power link in the same strand : - poles + and - for the battery, - 3 phases + PE for a three-phase distribution (rectifier supply), - 3 phases + neutral + PE for the by-pass supply, or distribution, - 3 phases + PE for the by-pass supply through an isolation transformer. CAUTION : CORRECT INSTALLATION WITH PARTITIONING ADMISSIBLE INSTALLATION WITHOUT PARTITIONING Risk of electromagnetic disturbances between battery and load cables 10 cm mini. WRONG 10 cm mini. ALL METALLIC CABLE THROUGHS, EITHER AERIAL OR IN A FALSE FLOOR, MUST IMPERATIVELY BE EARTHED.

CAUTION : THE USE OF STRAPS IS PROHIBITED IN ANY CASE 7.3. Handling from underneath PYRAMID-EX 80 and 200kVA Handling : You can use pallet trucks or lifting trucks. In such a case, remove the grids on the front and rear face of the cabinet and introduce the forks from the front. Lateral handling is also possible, provided that the side panel is unscrewed. REMOVABLE GRIDS FRONT AND REAR FACE

15 UPS/INF LI/PDSUPS - page 14/31 PYRAMID-EX 250 to 400kVA Handling : There are two possible solutions : - Solution A, introduce the pallet truck in front of the cabinet as close as possible to the central foot (first, remove the grids on the front and rear face), - Solution B, introduce the pallet truck on the rightside pannel of the cabinet (first, remove the right-side panel). NOTE : Handlings on the left-side pannel of the cabinet are prohibited. SOLUTION : A REMOVABLE RIGHT- SIDE PANEL SOLUTION : B 7.4. Handling from above PYRAMID-EX 80 to 200kVA Handling : You can use slings, provided that these slings are at least one and a half as long as the widest cabinet side. The eye screws (inside diameter 30 mm) are supplied on request. If the height under the hook does not allow the use of slings, it is preferable to use a lifting beam and shorter slings. 1,5 x the widest side INSIDE DIAMETER OF THE EYE SCREWS : 30 L l PYRAMID-EX 250 to 400kVA Handling : In view of the weight of the cabinets for this power range, the handling from above imperatively requires a lifting beam and six slings. NOTE : beyond 200 kva, cabinets are separate (see table 8.1.). Handling from above or underneath is still possible.

16 UPS/INF LI/PDSUPS - page 15/31 8. INSTALLATION 8.1. Cabinet assembling General explanations To make transport and handlings easier, the installation is separated into cabinets (or cabinet groups). The 'X' symbol on the front face indicates the separation points between the cabinets. Note : do imperatively refer to the technical file of the corresponding installation. When assembling the cabinets, the ' ' symbols mentioned on principle diagrams indicate the power connections to be achieved. Note : do imperatively refer to the technical file of the installation. They add up in the neutral cable. For this reason, the r.m.s. current in this conductor might exceed the nominal current in one phase, with a frequency 3 times higher than the inverter frequency, leading to important losses in this conductor.

22 UPS/INF LI/PDSUPS - page 21/31 Therefore, it is necessary to check : - the section of the neutral cable, the minimum section being equal to a phase section. The ESD operation must : - stop the load - prevent the UPS from operating on back-up time -disconnect all the supply mains As the UPS is installed on the site, all the means enabling the ESD to operate must be put in place Multi by-pass installations EMERGENCY STOP OF THE UNITS The loop closing on terminals 3-4, connector XJ5, board 'Alarms transfer' NW630 entails : - the unit uncoupling - the rectifier and inverter stop while the battery remains connected. NOTE: the battery connection can be made open on request, through the addition of a Mx coil, directly controlled by the emergency stop.

25 UPS/INF LI/PDSUPS - page 24/31 EMERGENCY STOP OF THE MONITORING CABINET The loop closing on terminals 3 and 4, connector XJ5 of the Alarm Transfer PCB NW630, induces the uncoupling of all the operating units. EMERGENCY STOP OF THE BY-PASS CABINETS The loop closing on terminals 7 and 8, connector XJ10 of the so called 'NORMAL' Alarm Transfer PCB NW640, entails the cut-off of the load supply. As a consequence, the emergency stop requires an independent action on each unit as well as on each by-pass cabinets. A common emergency stop to the installation can be designed through parallel loops. 11. EMERGENCY SET SINGLE AND PARALLEL UPS s An information (closing of loop on PCB NW 630 'Alarms transfer' of the common cabinet - connector XJ5 terminals 1-2) called EMERGENCY SET allows the UPS to operate with the emergency set. Four conditions are settable by the Service Department : a.- output voltage of rectifiers adjusted to the off-load voltage of the batteries, b.- desynchronisation of the operating inverters, c.- conditions 'a' and 'b' d.- no action on the UPS when the emergency set is operating. Without any specific customer's request, the 'd' condition is set on the UPS ex works. MULTI BY-PASS INSTALLATIONS The MONITORING cabinet is fitted with the Alarm Transfer PCB, identified NW630. According to the settings, the loop closing on terminals 1 and 2, connector XJ5 enables : - either to adjust the rectifiers voltage to the batteries off-load voltage, - or to desynchronise the inverters on the emergency mains (all by-passes are then locked), - or eventually to perform both above mentioned operations.

FLOATING CORRECTION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TEMPERATURE Principle To optimise the lifetime of the batteries, the floating voltage can be adjusted to three level of temperature : - temperature level T1 < 22 C - temperature level T2 between 22 C and 28 C - temperature level T3 > 28 C. Floating values are adapted according to the data provided by the battery manufacturer Connections Two thermostats (located in the UPS premises or in the battery cabinet) can be connected to the PCB NW630, connector XJ5 : - terminals 7 and 8 (make ) for thermostat T1 - terminals 5 and 6 (make ) for thermostat T3 NOTA : Ex-works, in the absence of connections, the floating is set in accordance with the temperature level T2. If thermostats happen to be faulty, or if loops 7-8 and 5-6 are closed simultaneously, the floating voltage is also adjusted to temperature level T2.
