2 CHARM CITY CIRCULATOR SHEILA DIXON MAYOR We are pleased to announce that Baltimore City will welcome a fleet of FREE, eco-friendly Circulator buses to its streets. The fleet will be comprised of 21 hybrid electric vehicles and according to the manufacturer, the first fleet of this type in a major metropolitan area. This new service is just one part of Mayor Sheila Dixon s vision of a Cleaner, Greener Baltimore. The fleet will help relieve congestion, limit air pollution, connect growing communities, bring more consumers into the city and free up downtown parking spaces. The Charm City Circulator will run seven days a week and incorporate three different routes. It will connect major hubs like Amtrak, MARC, Light Rail and the Metro Subway stops as well as less expensive parking outside the downtown area. Riders will include Baltimore City residents, downtown business employees, tourists, visitors and students. We d like to offer you the opportunity to reach this audience at a low introductory rate by advertising your business and services in the Charm City Circulator Guide. Your advertisement will be featured in approximately 200,000 printed brochures/schedules for a six- to 12-month period and make an estimated 3.7 million impressions per month almost 44 million impressions per year! 8 Contract for Purchase and Payment of Advertising Space in the Charm City Circulator Guide 2010 Billing Information Cancellation: This contract is non-cancelable after execution. I agree to pay Mjach Designs Limited all payments as outlined above unless Mjach releases me in writing from all or partial payments. Mjach Designs Limited makes no guarantees, written or implied, regarding effectiveness of advertising. Any cancellation is at the sole discretion of Mjach and must be in writing. I understand that Advertiser and agency are jointly and severally liable for payment of invoices for advertising published hereunder. All advertisers must provide a credit card to be held on file for any payment plan option selected. A 2% Finance Charge will be added to my invoice on any outstanding balances after due date. Enforcement: In the event of default in the performance of this contract, the non-defaulting party shall have the right to recover all costs of collection, including, but not limited to, attorney s fees and full amount of the contract fee. The publisher shall publish the work except in case of delay caused by acts of God such as fires or floods or other circumstances beyond its control. 9 A Cleaner, Greener Ride YOUR NEW RIDE SHEILA DIXON MAYOR THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE ECOSAVER IV Smooth... The EcoSaver IV utilizes highly efficient electric motors to smoothly propel it. The jerking and growling of a large transmission is completely absent in the EcoSaver IV, because there is no transmission. The EcoSaver IV utilizes highly efficient electric motors that smoothly propel it throughout its complete range of acceleration and deceleration without a shift or sound. Quiet... The quiet ride of the EcoSaver IV electric bus has been repeatedly described as like being inside of a library. Even with the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) running, there is almost no discernible engine noise inside the cabin. Green... The DesignLine system utilizes a clean burning turbine, or the smallest combustion engine on the market. The body design reduces vehicle weight by up to 3 tons over other systems, resulting in approximately 2.25 tons less greenhouse gases a year. What is it and how does it work? The EcoSaver IV greatly reduces a fleet s greenhouse gas emissions. The fleet s emissions are cut in half, by burning only half its fuel when the bus is operating. The EcoSaver IV also emits far less emissions than a conventional bus by spending a significant portion of the operating day in zero emission mode, running on pure battery power. Electricity is provided by an on-board Auxiliary Power Unit (APU). The APU is not a drive motor, but an electrical generator, providing up to 30 kw of electrical energy to the batteries. A second source of the electricity is the bus s regenerative braking system, which taps the energy generated by coasting and braking. Coupling the lower fuel and lower maintenance cost has proven the technology to be a sustainable energy efficient form of transportation.
