1 Water Irrigation Products A Complete Product Range for Irrigation Applications w w w. i t r o n. c o m Water resource is more and more sollicited by increased withdrawals of many origins, especially for irrigation purpose. It is now more and more vital to better manage this resource in order to preserve it for the future. Better management means accurate metering of withdrawals in agriculture and how they are shared in order to increase their efficiency. Itron offer to the irrigation scheme managers consists in a full range of metering instruments and regulation devices, all adapted for raw irrigation water types. This range covers needs for equipment of under pressure collective irrigation networks (hydrants) as well as equipments for individual pumpings (meters and accessories). The range comprises: Irrigation Hydrants Hydrants (type A, A, B, B) are giving access to an irrigation network under pressure. They allow to share the resource by individual consumptions metering and by controlling key contractual parameters such as pressure and flow-rate. An irrigation hydrant is a compact and modular device including the following functionalities: connection to the collective network, valve closing apparatus, fitting of to outlets allowing individual metering, pressure regulation and flow-rate limitation. Pressure Regulating Devices Pressure regulators are spring cartridge type, they reduce and control network pressure in order to protect end user installations from downstream pressure variations. Flow Limiters Flow limiters are rubber ring deforming type. They limit water withdrawals to a pre-set contractual flow-rate in order to equilibrate the network, whatever the upstream/downstream pressure variations. Meters Irrimag is a proportional mechanical meter ideally suited for abrasive meters met in irrigation applications. Irrimag is pre-equipped for communication. Various modules can be fitted to it in order to remote read the index by Radio Frequency, give access to pulses allowing flow-rate calculation for display or integration in remote control chains. For raw water applications involving low flow-rates (gardening, micro-irrigation, ), we complement our offer with turbine type meters (multi-jets) or propeller type meters (Woltmann).

3 Irrigation Hydrants Itron hydrants allow an efficient sharing of the water resource in pressurized collective irrigation network. > Valve closing system Each hydrant allows: > Connection of individual user to the collective network, > Simultaneous water consumption by many users thanks to the various outlets, > A set of regulation functions in order to share the resource among the simultaneous users. An hydrant is made of a body, comprising a valve closing apparatus, and provisions for outlet connections. Outlets are featuring metering, pressure regulation, flow limitation, quick coupling functionalities. Detailed Functionalities > Hydrant meter Nominal Diameter : 5 and 00 mm Max. flow: 0 to 80 m 3 /h - Connection In certain areas, it might be needed to bury the collective network deeper to prevent frost damages. Itron hydrants are offered in two height variants through additionnal sleeve length in order to match the depth of installation. - Valve Closure Device The valve closing system opens backflow, network pressure is then naturally closing the valve in absence of command. This allows maintenance on the head of the hydrant without closing and purging the whole network. Maintenance on the field is significantly eased (). The valve closing system is designed in such a way as to avoid water hammers. It is fully made of brass to ensure corrosion-free durable tightness. The large handwheel and specific design of the valve base are easing manual operation. Meter is pre-equipped as standard with Cyble technology. Cyble modules such as Cyble RF or Cyble pulser allow to remote read the index through Radio Frequency or to get access to flow-rate processing through pulse output. - Pressure Regulator Pressure regulator is spring cartridge type. It reduces network pressure for the end user and protects it from downstream pressure variations. 5 - Flow-rate Limiter Flow limiter is rubber ring deforming type. 4 Water > Hydrant type A Hydrant range characteristics are summarized in the table below. Hydrant type A and B Hydrant A and B are able to receive many outlets in DN5 or DN00 according type. They are then adapted for irrigation of multiple areas from the same point. They are made of a modular body with various base connections, optionnal anti-frost height. The body receives one to four compact outlets featuring metering, pressure regulation, flow limitation functionalities. 5 Irrimag () > Irrimag The Irrimag is a measuring element with > free flow in the main body > no gearing in the metered water > by-pass meter protected by deflector > low headloss The turbine type meter is connected in by-pass to the main body. The flow in the body generates a pressure difference derivating part of water into the by-pass meter that operates by proportional measurement. Irrimag is standard pre-equipped with Cyble technology. Various communication modules can be fitted to the meter without dismounting any part and breaking any seal. The communication modules allow remote read of the volume index in difficult-to-access locations, flow-rate calculation, or integration in remote control chains. The rubber ring deforms under the action of downstream pressure and reduces the bore hole section. 6 Water Hydrant Type A and B > Modular design of hydrant bodies > Backflow valve closing operation > Large choice of outlets designed for various applications > Hydrant A The Itron range of hydrants has a modular design to offer a large choice of inlet/outlet combinaisons with a wide range of operating flow-rates, while limiting the number of spare parts for maintenance to the minimum. Modular design The A and B hydrant types share common base and valve closing system. The hydrant base is available with various diameters for easy connection to the collective network. The body could optionally include an antifrost sleeve length for connection to deep buried networks, it is prepared for automatic purge valve fitting (supplied as an option). The choice between A or B types will depends on the number of end-users connected to the hydrant as well as on the maximum flow-rate required for each of them. > the A type has outlets 5mm allowing connection of to end-users with individual flow-rates up to 0 m 3 /h > the B type has outlets 00mm allowing connection of to end-user with individual flow-rates from 0 to 80 m3/h. Hydrant Outlets The outlets are compact and modular assemblies of devices that can be mounted on hydrant heads to compose complete hydrant product.
