2 The following list provides information about long-term durability of properly manufactured glass fibre reinforced unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester composite parts exposed to a broad range of chemical environments and at different temperatures. The information summarizes the results of long-term industrial users experiences and extensive laboratory testing. The recommendations given in the guide are based on the data obtained from extensive exposure tests in accordance with the ASTM C /DIN 53393/DIN test standards or EC design standard for GRP tanks and vessels for above ground, EN part 1 and 2 (see page 4), in combination with proven practical cases. The laboratory tests have been conducted on wellprepared and fully cured test samples. For each chemical environment listed, a suitable chemically resistant unsaturated polyester and/or vinyl ester resin is specified, with limits of temperature ( C) and concentrations. 3 The Corrosion Resistant Product Range When choosing resins for corrosion resistant applications, it is important to select products that give the right performance and are fit for the job in question. In this guide we describe the key properties of our high performance, chemical resistant resins. We have also listed the maximum temperatures at which laminates, based on these unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins, have demonstrated a good service life and/or shown positive test results in accordance with the test methods mentioned. Below is a brief description of the key properties for each of our corrosion resistant resin types. * According to Commission Regulation (EU) No , and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) Commission Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006. Specific information on compliance to food contact regulations is available on request via the regulatory data sheet. FC (Food Contact) versions have the suffix FC and behave exactly the same as none FC versions. High-end orthophthalic Unsaturated Polyester resin. Suitable for low temperature aqueous media. This product is manufactured according to GMP *. Isophthalic Unsaturated Polyester resin based on Neopentyl Glycol. Suitable for medium temperature aqueous media and medium temperature acidic media. Resin gives good adhesion between PVC liners and GRP. This product is also available as a FC (Food Contact) grade manufactured according to EU food contact law *. Epoxy Bisphenol A vinyl ester resin specifically formulated for food contact and potable water applications. Suitable in applications for a wide range of corrosive environments. This product is also available as a FC (Food Contact) grade manufactured according to EU food contact law *. Isophthalic Unsaturated Polyester resin with standard glycols. Suitable for medium temperature aqueous media. Low peak exotherm allows the manufacture of thick laminates. Isophthalic Unsaturated Polyester resin with pure propylene glycol. Suitable for medium temperature aqueous media and low temperature acidic media. Flexible Bisphenol A Unsaturated Polyester resin. Flexibilised, suitable for chemical linings. Bisphenol A Unsaturated Polyester resin. Suitable for high temperature water, acid and salt solutions and medium temperature alkali solutions. Bisphenol A urethane resin. Suitable for high temperature water, acid and salt solutions. Low peak exotherm allows the manufacture of thick laminates. Standard Bisphenol A vinyl ester resin. Provides resistance to a wide range of acids, alkali, and bleaches for the use in corrosive environments in the chemical processing industry. The favorable combination of thermal resistance and elongation makes this resin suitable for applications exposed to intermittent temperatures. Flexible Urethane Epoxy Bisphenol vinyl ester. Provides improved resistance to a wide range of acids, alkali, bleaches and solvents for the use in corrosive environments in the chemical processing industry. The favorable combination of thermal resistance and elongation also makes this resin suitable for applications exposed to intermittent temperatures. 4 is designed to combine the easy processing of a polyester with the chemical resistance of a vinyl ester: A low peak exotherm allows the manufacturing of thick laminates like flanges. Low foam curing is possible with standard MEKP peroxides and compared to traditional vinyl ester resins it shows excellent fibre wetting. This product is also available as a FC (Food Contact) grade manufactured according to EU food contact law. Epoxy Novolac vinyl ester. Provides excellent thermal and chemical resistance against solvents, acids and oxidizing media like chlorine. The resin offers high retention of strength at elevated temperatures. Epoxy Bisphenol A Urethane vinyl ester. Provides the same excellent thermal and chemical resistance against solvents, acids, and oxidizing media as also offers resistance against alkalis. The E-Nova technology combines the easy processing of polyester with the chemical resistance of vinyl ester.
